A BRIEF HISTORY
Fr. Agnel Ashram was founded on June 9, 1957 in
Bandra, Mumbai on a piece of land known as
“Land's End” with the aim of fostering, through
Educational and Charitable Institutions, love and
understanding amongst the people of various
communities of India and contributing towards
India's development and self-reliance. It was named
after the Ven. Fr. Agnelo D'Souza, a Goan Priest who died in odour of Sanctity in 1927.
Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues College of Engineering (Fr. CRCE) was established in
Fr. Agnelo de Souza
1984 as part of Agnel Technical Education Complex at Bandra, Mumbai by the Society
of St. Francis Xavier Pilar, a Public and Charitable Trust.
The College of Engineering is named after the founder of the Ashram, the late Rev. Fr. Conceicao
Rodrigues who was a rare visionary and freedom fighter possessed with unbounded
energy and resoluteness of purpose. Under the inspiration of this charismatic
founder, the Agnel Fathers realized that their contribution to the process of nation
building would be through the spread of facilities for Technical Education. The Agnel
Fathers accordingly acquired experience in providing technical education facilities
through the establishment of Agnel Technical Education Complexes in different
parts of the country namely Bandra (Mumbai), Vashi (Navi Mumbai), Verna (Goa),
and New Delhi (Noida). Each unit imparts Technical Education at various levels viz.
Skilled Trades, Technicians and Engineers.
Fr. Agnel Ashram at Bandra, Mumbai, started with Fr. Agnel BalBhavan, an
Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues Orphanage and a Technical school in carpentry in 1957. It has today grown into a
full-fledged Technical Education Complex with Industrial Training Institute, Polytechnic and
Engineering College, along with a School (KG to Junior College).
Though Fr. Conceicao Rodrigues did not live long enough to see his dream come true in the form of the
College of Engineering at Bandra, the clearance for this college was obtained due to his untiring efforts
just a day before his sudden demise in 1984. The college today proudly bears his name as a fitting
tribute to his impassioned faith in well qualified and fully trained engineers and technicians in the
service of the nation. The visionary principles on which the institution was founded have been nurtured
and fostered in succeeding years and continue to guide the functioning of the college even today.
Fr. CRCE, came into existence with only one course in Production Engineering with an intake capacity
of 60 students. As on today, the Institute offers four Undergraduate Programmes, and two Postgraduate Programmes and one Ph. D. Programme with a total strength of over 1100 students.

TRAINING & PLACEMENT CELL
We, at Fr. CRCE, strive hard to provide our students with the best avenues to utilize their skills by
helping them find gainful employment with the best of the Engineering firms. In order to cater for
Training & Placement needs of the students, we have set up a separate Training & Placement Cell, which
is constantly in touch with prospective employers to ensure that they consider Fr. CRCE students
whenever there are job opportunities.
9
The major companies who offer placement to our students are shown below :
10
As a result of highly focussed and continuous efforts of Training & Placement Cell, every year 90 to
100% of eligible students are placed, some of whom also fetch multiple placements.
This reinforces the belief that Fr. CRCE is on the right track and is true to its Vision “Moulding
Engineers who can build the Nation”.
INDUSTRY ACADEMIA LINKAGES
Fr. CRCE has carved a niche for itself in Engineering Education. Better interaction between
Engineering Institutes and Industry is the need of the hour. There is an urgent need to prepare
engineering students to take up the challenges of the industry by exposing them to state-of-the-art
technologies and engineering methodologies. These objectives can be achieved well by bridging the gap
between industry and the academic institute. To facilitate the same, Fr. CRCE has taken the following
initiatives towards Industry-Academia Interaction.
 TCS Academic Interface Programme
We share a MoU with TCS as a part of their Academic Interface Programme which offers a platform
to our students and faculty members to undergo Faculty Development Programmes and student
internships at TCS. TCS also offers Best Student Award, Best Student Project Awards and Student
Internship Programmes.
 Academic alliances with Microsoft and EMC
This facilitates technical collaboration with those esteemed organizations for the use of their
products.
 Campus Connect Programmes by Godrej, Accenture, L&T and TCS.
 IBM Centre of Excellence
All updated IBM Softwares are available in this Centre. The two main activities under the Centre are
the national level project competition TGMC ( The - Great Mind Challenge ) and Certificate oriented
training programmes.
 Embedded Systems on Chip, Design Centre in association with Eduvance.
 Bluestar Foundation scholarship with fee support, industry mentoring and internship for
selected students
 Training on Cisco Technologies, facilitating CCNA Certification.
 Research
11
There is a dedicated research center with necessary hardware and software facilities. Faculty and
students regularly publish/present papers in international and national level journals and
conferences.
We organize a regular biennial International Conference on Advances in Computing,
Communication and Control (ICAC3) to promote research activities in India and abroad. The Fourth
International Conference on Advances in Computing, Communication and Control ICAC3 was held
in April 2015 in our campus. The proceedings of the conferences held have been published by
Springer in ‘Communications in Computer and Information Technology (CCIS) series. The selected
papers have also been uploaded in the Springer Digital Library.
 Live Project
Students are encouraged and facilitated to do their final year projects from premier Institutes like
Bhaba Atomic Research Center (BARC), Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Tech
Mahindra, ICICI Bank, Society for Applied Microwave Electronics Engineering & Research
(SAMEER), etc. Most of the PG projects are with good research value, often in association with
Industries and Research Institutes.
 Inplant Training
Final Year Production Engineering students need to undergo one semester inplant training
programme, which is arranged with reputed Engineering companies like L & T Engineering,
Mahindra and Mahindra, Godrej and Boyce, Crompton Greaves, SIEMENS, TATA Motors, and many
other small scale Industries for providing students the industrial exposure before they take up their
professional responsibilities in the Corporate World.
