SAFETY: The accident at Walteria is a tragic reminder that we can never be too safe when it comes to driving, especially around children. Please remember to come to a full and complete stop before allowing your children to enter or exit the vehicle and wait until they are safe on the sidewalk before pulling away. If walking, cross only at the driveway entry and exit points and not through the middle of the parking lot. Children are often unaware of their surroundings and impulsive in their actions. Creating safe habits will help them avoid dangerous behaviors. VOTE: Seaside is a polling site on Tuesday, Nov. 4. The cafeteria will be used for voting. Remember to cast your ballot. Please consider carefully when making your choice on Measure T and U; our future is in your hands. The TUSD web page will provide you with information. http://tusd.org/InformationNews/MeasureTandU/tabid/3277/Default.aspx GATE Testing for Grades 4 and 5 All 4th and 5th grade students are being offered the opportunity to participate in GATE testing based on either teacher recommendation and/or parent request. If you would like to request testing, please ask your child’s teacher for an application. The deadline for returning your permission slip to your child’s teacher is December 16, 2014. GATE testing for fourth and fifth graders will take place on site during February and March. Statewide Shortage of Substitute Teachers: In California, and in Torrance, we need highly qualified substitute teachers. Look for milk that has been certified organic or carries the words "no artificial hormones." Conventional dairies inject cows with synthetic recombinant bovine growth hormone (rBGH), aka bovine somatotropin (rbST), to boost production. The practice has been implicated in udder infections, requiring more veterinary antibiotic use, and is banned in many countries. Some scientists worry the hormones may affect consumers.
