Series History
This is the first meeting between the two teams. The squads have one common opponent this season in Salisbury with both teams winning in thrilling fashion. Wesley
defeated the Sea Gulls in the closing seconds on a Hail Mary toss to Jeremiah
Howe while the Bombers defeated Salisbury, 24-23 in overtime.
Last Time Out
Wesley advanced to its ninth-straight NCAA Second Round with a 29-24 win at #8
Johns Hopkins last Saturday. After allowing a touchdown with 50 seconds left, Joe
Callahan drove the Wolverines 82 yards on just 5 plays in 38 seconds. Callahan hit
Steve Koudossou (11 catches, 132 yards, 3 TDs) on a post pattern for a 33-yard TD
with 12.8 seconds left. Malik jones recorded a sack on the game’s final play. Callahan threw for 244 yards and 4 TDs on 27-of-43 passing. Sosthene Kapepula and
Derrick Bender each had 2 TFLs while Jordan Wescott and Luke Maginnins had ten
tackles each.
Scouting the Bombers
Ithaca excels on the defensive side of the ball, allowing just 15.3 points per game
and just 303.2 yards per game. Five times, the Bombers held their opponents to
under ten points with the most they allowed being 28, in a regular season loss to
Cortland State. Will Carter leads the team with 92 tackles along with 8.5 TFLs and
six sacks. Brian Hardenberg, who has recovered a team-high four fumbles, is
right behind with 71 tackles while his 10.5 TFLs are second on the squad to Jake
Santora’s 11.5. Santora has missed the last three games with an injury and is not
expected to play. Dan and Mike Sheldon are bookends of a 3-4 Front and have
combined for 13.5 TFLs and 65 tackles. In the secondary, Brian Garvey and Mike
Vulcano each have four interceptions. Sam Carney is a playmaker all over the field
with two interceptions, two forced fumbles and 32 tackles while averaging 28 yards
per kick return and 16.3 yards a punt return.
Offensively, the Bombers have battled injury at running back as Evan Skea was
well on his way to a 1,000 yard season before getting hurt. Healthy now, Skea has
rushed for 384 yards and a TD, ranking second to Rakim Jones’ 494 yards and five
touchdowns. Tommy Padula is also expected to carry the load, rushing for 253
yards on 79 carries.
Tom Dempsey is slated to start at QB and has completed 61.1% of his passes for
1,454 yards and 13 TDs to just 7 interceptions. Phil Neumann has also got substantial time under center with 753 yards and 4 passing touchdowns.
Graduate Assistants: Jessica Barranco & Jared Prugar and Vito Boffoli have 42 and 41 catches, respectively, but Prugar has
Johnathan Taylor
748 yards and 6 Tds to just 400 yards and 3 scores for Boffoli. Joel Lynch is a great

third threat with 37 catches for 495 yards and six TDs. Chris Bauer (19-204) and
Steve DelMoro (17-185) should also be targeted.
head coach mike drass
Wesley head coach Mike Drass has continued the Wolverines’ winning tradition since
taking over as head coach in 1993. Now in his 21st season as head coach, and his
25th overall with the program, Drass is fifth among active Division III coaches with a
.783 winning percentage and 186 wins. Among coaches at the three four-year football
programs in Delaware, Drass ranks second all-time to former Delaware head coach
Tubby Raymond. Raymond won 300 contests, but Drass’ 78.3% winning percentage
is the best all-time of any coach while at Wesley, Delaware or Delaware State. The
Wolverines have finished .500 or better in all of Coach Drass’ 21 seasons at the helm,
with 13 seasons with at least eight wins and seven with at least ten wins.
Callahan Cruises In First Career Start
Redshirt sophomore Joe Callahan had the best game for a quarterback in
Wesley College history in a 33-21 victory over #20 Widner in the season
opener. Callahan set school-records for completions (37) and passing yards
(510) and did not throw an interception. The 510 yards is the most passing
yards at any NCAA level for a quarterback in their first career start.

Koudossou Rapidly Climbing Up Wesley Receiving Charts
In the season opener against #20 Widener, junior wide receiver Steve Koudossou recorded a school-record 266 receiving yards. In just two full seasons and
through just two games this year, Koudossou is already on several of Wesley’s
all-time top ten lists. His 30 receiving touchdowns are second all-time for the
Wolverines, and when you add his five rushing scores, he is fifth all-time with
34 touchdowns. A native of Waldorf, Md., Koudossou has caught 136 passes
(2nd all-time) for 2,179 yards (5th all-time).

Success Against The Best
Wesley has not shied away from playing teams at the Division I or Division II
levels and have had success. With a win at Charlotte on November 9, who
Wesley will also take on in 2014, the Wolverines have now won three-straight
games against Division I squads (Charleston Southern in 2011) and Iona in
2008).
The Wolverines also have been known to schedule the toughest that Division
III has to offer and have by far the toughest-ranked schedule in the Nation.

Four Players Named Preseason All-Americans
Seniors Jared Morris (FS), Leon Jones (CB) and Sean Hopkins (PR) as well
as junior linebacker Sosthene Kapepula were all named Preseason All-Americans by various publications prior to the 2013 season.
Morris: a First Team All-American in 2012 after leading the Wolverines with
six interceptions. Transitioning from the offensive to defensive side of the ball,
Morris finished the season ranked third on the team in tackles (76) and tackles
for loss (8.0) while also returning a kickoff for a touchdown against Mount Ida
in the Playoffs. In the season opener at East Texas Baptist, Morris’ first game
as a defensive player, he picked off a Wesley single-game record four passes
in a 34-14 victory.
Jones: One of the premier corners in small college football, Jones was a
BSN All-American in 2011 after picking off six passes, including a memorable
99-yard return for a touchdown in a comeback win over Linfield in the NCAA
Playoffs. The native of Lindenwold, N.J., followed that up with two more interceptions at Mount Union in the NCAA Semifinals before recording three picks
and 25 tackles in 2012.
Hopkins: 2012 BSN All-American after leading all of NCAA Division III with an
impressive 18.6 yards per punt return average in 2012. Hailing from nearby
Georgetown, Del., Hopkins had eight returns of over 20 yards and five over
forty, including a season-long 49 yard return for a touchdown at Huntingdon.
Kapepula: Had one of the best seasons in Wolverines history as a sophomore
and earned Second Team All-America and ECAC Defensive Player of the Year
honors. Finishing the season with 13.0 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles
and a nation-leading four fumble recoveries, the team captain from Olney, Md.,
made 120 tackles, the most by a Wolverine since Rocky Myers recorded 124
stops in 2004. Kapepula closed out the season with a career-high 18 tackles
at Mary Hardin-Baylor in the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Rocky Myers Now A Namesake
USA College Football, a Division of USA Football Network, Inc. has announced that the Division III Defensive Back of the Year Trophy will now be
known as the Myers Trophy, named after former Wesley College football
standout Rocky Myers. Myers is still the only defensive player to ever win the
Gagliardi Trophy, which is widely recognized as the premier individual award
in Division III football, honoring excellence in athletics, academics and community service.
