WWW.KENCHERTOW.COM | 814-466-3466 TEAM AND DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE FOR ALL FOR CAMPS TEAM ANDGROUP GROUP DISCOUNTS AVAILABLE ALL CAMPS SUPER GOLD MEDAL TRAINING CAMP 2, 3, or 4+ Week Options This intensive learning and training camp entails a unique blend of comprehensive technical instruction and structured drill sessions with lots of live wrestling. You will learn how to develop the mental toughness and confidence that you need to excel at the highest levels of competition. You will come to understand the technique, concentration, intensity, and commitment required to become a Champion. Super Gold Medal Training Camp is a unique opportunity for the experienced teenage wrestler who is determined to excel at the highest levels of competition. To reach your fullest potential, more than just physical training is required. Our Sports Science Staff and I will conduct seminars on important areas including strength training, nutrition, goal setting, and mental preparation. You will receive personalized coaching and feedback from our staff of superstar clinicians in small, instructional groups, and have the opportunity to participate in an intense, supervised strength training program with expert strength training coaches. Super Gold Medal Training Camp is not like traditional intensive camps where you rise every morning at dawn to run and/or lift and become too exhausted to retain technique and wrestle intensely. The emphasis is on learning and wrestling and you will do plenty of both. There will be some mandatory running and lifting sessions but most will be optional. Super Gold Medal Training Camp will be a valuable investment in your future. It is a special opportunity for the experienced wrestler who has college scholarship aspirations and wants to make a big commitment this summer. We customize Super Gold Medal Curriculum to meet the needs of individual wrestlers! Gold Medal Training Camp (GM) ATTENTION COACHES: Unique Team Camp Format 4 to 6 Day Options This incredible camp involves a unique blend of technical instruction, intense drilling, live wrestling, and review sessions. Technique is emphasized and reinforced, not neglected as it is at many other intensive camps. You will be taught by many of our superstar clinicians and will learn far more than you would at a shorter camp. The live wrestling sessions are very intense and competitive. During the past six seasons, Gold Medal Campers have won an impressive 450+ State Championships, while over 750 campers have placed in the 1998-2007 State Tournaments. This does not include all the future stars still in junior high school. Many of our campers use Gold Medal Camp to train for USA Wrestling, NHSCA and AAU Nationals, so we have special instructional and training groups for those interested in freestyle and Greco-Roman training. If you want to test yourself against the best in the nation, Gold Medal Training Camp is the place to do it. While traditional team camps provide for only one or two matches daily, Gold Medal Team Camp offers every member of your team an entire daily session dedicated to live wrestling, intense drilling and serious training. Instead of wrestling a short match and then sitting around for the duration of the session like most team camps, Gold Medal Team Camp provides each wrestler continuous wrestling with multiple quality partners. By forgoing the typical dual meet format we are able to provide our campers with the opportunity to wrestle numerous matches of varying lengths while also including many “live situations”. This variety helps maintain a high level of intensity while reinforcing and perfecting the techniques presented in our instructional sessions. Coaches who bring their teams to our innovative camp consistently remark how much more productive and beneficial the sessions are than typical camps. Personalized Technique Camp (Tech) 4 or 5 Day Options Our Personalized Technique Camp is specifically designed for wrestlers with little to moderate experience, as well as for experienced wrestlers who want to refine and expand their current repertoire. Our technique curriculum is carefully structured to present the most effective scoring techniques from all three positions in a systematic fashion to maximize retention. Personalized Technique Camp students will get to choose specific areas in which to receive advanced instruction. Although live wrestling is not a core component of the technique camp as it is with the Gold Medal Training Camp, participants will have the opportunity to participate in live wrestling during select sessions. YOUTH DEVELOPMENTAL TRAINING CAMPS Undoubtedly, the Best Youth Camps in the Nation!!! Our Kids Training and Future Champions Camps have been carefully designed so that the wrestlers have a positive experience in a closely supervised environment. Parents, we take our responsibility to teach, motivate and supervise your child very seriously. Wrestlers are not allowed to leave the hotel or campus premises, and our coaching staff and I are available to help the kids throughout the day both on and off the mats. Youth Developmental Camps are specifically designed for wrestlers ages 6-12. Future champions Camp (FC, grades 1 - 3) Kids Training Camp (KT, grades 3 - 7) 4 Days Designed for wrestlers grades 1–3 who have varying degrees 4 to 6 Day Options A variation of the Gold Medal Training Camp that of skill, experience, and attention span. We cater to the needs of both novice and advanced wrestlers, providing small group, personalized instruction. The Future Champions Camp motto is “Work Hard and Have Fun on Your Way to #1,” and the kids do just that. They learn the importance of hard work and aggressiveness while having fun and striving to be winners in all aspects of their lives. is designed for serious students entering grades 3-7. This is a step up from the Future Champions Camp for the hard core young wrestler. While many other camps conduct youth camps as an afterthought, we take great pride in our Kids Training Camps and the success of our students. We specialize in training youth wrestlers far better than any other camp in the nation, and elementary school wrestlers from across the country come to train at Kids Training Camp. Father/Son Camp Options Parents, you are welcome to attend either the Kids Training Camp or the Future Champions Camp with your son. This is a unique opportunity to learn and bond together in a world class wrestling environment that also stresses fun, fitness, and fundamentals. We encourage you to attend sessions, take notes, video tape the instructional presentations, and/or assist your son. We offer a variety of housing and meal options to meet the needs and budget of your family. Please refer to the application page at the back of this brochure and/or contact us today to learn more. Policy # ***Please enroll me in: Check Camp of choice on reverse side of this page.*** CAMP DESIGN I have personally designed the Gold Medal Camp System so that you will learn and retain as much as possible. While college sponsored camps are often thrown together, Gold Medal Camp is very organized. Through a carefully planned sequence of instruction, unique drills, and review sessions, you will learn the techniques necessary to become a champion. I will be present at ALL camps. I design the curriculum for every session, personally instruct many sessions, and am available for personalized instruction. I have made a commitment to coordinating the finest camp system in the world. There are a variety of camps to choose from so you can pick the camp best suited to meet your individual needs. (See facing page for Camp options.) Wrestlers in each of the different camps will be divided into small groups based on skill level and experience so that you will receive the personalized instruction necessary to meet your individual needs. SYSTEMATIC APPROACH I have been an avid student of the sport since I was fourteen years old and made a commitment to becoming a State Champion. Since then I have trained year-round, experimenting with different techniques while drilling, wrestling, and coaching young wrestlers. While coaching at Penn State and Ohio State, I have had the privilege of working with some of the finest coaches and wrestlers in the nation. I have gone to training camps at the Olympic Training Center regularly since 1984. At these camps I trained with some of the best wrestlers in the world, expanding and polishing my repertoire daily. I also regularly analyze videotape of State, NCAA, and Olympic Championships. I know and understand what it takes to become a Champion and am eager to share it with you. I have carefully designed the entire technique curriculum so that everything you learn will be presented in an organized, systematic fashion. You will learn a system of wrestling—the same system that has made me and many other top wrestlers successful. You will leave my camp with a thorough understanding of all the techniques you are taught. You will learn not only how to execute them, but also when to hit them and why they work. You will repetition drill all the techniques during extensive, closelysupervised drill sessions. These daily drill sessions will help you perfect the techniques, remember them, and hit them instinctively in the heat of battle. TECHNIQUE CURRICULUM TAKEDOWNS - You will learn an array of set-up actions that will allow you to constantly pressure your opponent while always maintaining good position. Learn to change levels quickly so that you can explosively attack your opponent in a variety of fashions from all angles using the inside step, knee spin, knee bounce, double knee drop, and low ankle mechanics of penetration. Our staff will also detail a variety of leg attack finishes so you can quickly and effectively finish your leg attacks both from your feet and when you get stuck on your knees. If your opponent’s legs are back, you must work his head down. You will learn the snap, shuck, and ankle pick series, so that you can wear your opponent down, open up your leg attacks, and/or get his head underneath you to score. You will learn front headlock subtleties and cement series details, as well as essential spin behind techniques, including tricep pulls and back hands. Many other counterattacks will be taught including the chestlock, bundled arms, spladle, and funk rolls. We place much emphasis on High Percentage Offense. The finer points of the slide by series are carefully detailed, so you can quickly score on the opponent who hangs on your collar. We also teach an array of throw bys, arm drags, duck unders, and elbow shove high singles, so that you can effectively and safely clear arms and score. Advanced takedown techniques including throws, underhook attacks, two-on-one combinations, and low single attacks will also be covered. You will leave camp with a clear understanding of the takedowns you must master to excel and the work ethic necessary to perfect them. Although takedowns are the most important and difficult area of wrestling to master, mat wrestling will NOT be neglected as it is at many other camps. TOP POSITION - Emphasis will be on tilts, legs, turks, and cradles, the most effective ways to turn a good opponent. Important and unique breakdowns will be drilled along with essential double overtime rideout tactics including the side headlock and counters. You will learn to control and turn your toughest opponents. All nearfall techniques will be taught in extra small groups because the finer points are so important. BOTTOM POSITION - Chain wrestling from the bottom position will be drilled daily. You will learn the finer points of the stand-up that will help you explode and seal off with back pressure for a quick escape, and you will develop a variety of second moves that can be used depending on your opponent’s pressure. You will get to choose which reversal techniques you want expert instruction on and receive this instruction in extra small groups to learn the finer points. Special mat wrestling sessions are offered for wrestlers particularly interested in advanced instruction on parallel legs, cradles, turks, freestyle turns, Granbys, Petersons, wrist rolls, and counters to legs.
