at Brookwood Camps
Meet the Directors
Jay Fiedler arrived as a full-time director in the summer of 2013 but has spent a lifetime around both
traditional summer camps and sports camps. Jay has been an integral part of Brookwood
Camps since the Fiedler family acquired the property in 1986. Growing up in the camp’s
Jay had a stellar athletic career at Dartmouth College in football and track and field while
earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Engineering Sciences. Jay then went on to play 10
years as an NFL quarterback, including five seasons as a starter with the Miami Dolphins.
idenced by his rise from undrafted free agent to starting quarterback and captain of his
the camp has been run annually since 1999. Over the years, Jay has been able to attract
several professional athletes, coaches and teammates as guest coaches and instructors for
his Prime Time Football Camps. His relationships with many
pro athletes and coaches in a variety of sports allow him to
recruit the brightest and most accomplished instructors. As a co-director he will
head Brookwood Camps’ new Sports Academy. “I’ve spent a lot of time as a
camper myself, both as a summer camper and a sports camper,” Jay says, “and I
believe that experience is invaluable in creating a healthy and productive environment. “I’m really looking forward to working with our campers, helping them
grow physically, intellectually, emotion ally and socially.”
Scott Fiedler became a staff member at Brookwood Camps in 1986 after spending most of his life as a
camper and an acclaimed basketball player. “Camping and sports are in my
blood,” Scott says.
Scott is a graduate of Washington University in St. Louis, where he received
a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics and was captain of
a top-notch varsity basketball team. His teams won over 80
games, and he was a recipient of the Pierce Memorial
Award, an athletic achievement award for supreme effort
and commitment to team play. After his playing career,
Scott became one of the youngest head coaches in the
country at Suffolk County Community College; he then continued to coach NCAA Division
I teams. Scott’s playing and coaching experience provide Brookwood Camps with
another layer of credibility. He brings to campers lessons learned from his own life and the
challenges of the sports world. He is a major component of the staff, keeping a watchful
eye on campers, while mentoring and coaching them. He also is the founder of the Prime
Time Sports Camps, which offers week-long programs that focus on specific sports.
Scott’s wife, Pam, and their two children, Tyler and Morgan, also spend their summers at
Brookwood Camps. Pam, a former Division I college lacrosse player who now is a high
school coach, teaches the sport to campers.
Ken & Donna Fiedler purchased Brookwood Camps in 1986 after having served as co-directors at
Camp Lenni-Len-a-Pe since 1973. Through Ken’s vision and the experiences of his
son, Scott, Brookwood Camps has undergone tremendous facility expansion and
increased program development.
Ken is mindful of the needs of each individual camper and strives to keep
Brookwood Camps among the premier camp facilities in the country.
His true passion for sports led him to a career in physical education. He has
a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from SUNY Cortland and a
Master of Science degree in Physical Education and Administration from Ithaca
College.
Ken coached basketball for a quarter-century at Springfield Gardens High
School in Queens, where his teams won two city championships. He coached former New York Knicks player An
thony Mason and former St. John’s University head coach Norm Roberts. Both credit Ken for helping them reach
the pinnacles of their basketball professions.
Ken is a recipient of the National Pro Am Achievement Award and the Jewish Sports Hall of Fame Good Guy
Award.
Donna began camping at age 5 and has been passionate about outdoors and camp living ever since. She is
Brookwood Camps director and is responsible for the camp’s highly acclaimed arts program. She has a Bachelor
of Arts degree in Art from Hofstra and is a retired arts teacher from the New York City public school system.
WORLD CLASS INSTRUCTION IN A
TRADITIONAL ENVIRONMENT
The Sports Academy at Brookwood Camps combines the best of sports camps with the best
of a traditional camp into one comprehensive experience. Utilizing their more than 75 years
of combined experience as owners and operators of both traditional summer camps and
sports camps, the Fiedler Family has created a summer program which gives children of
varying interests and abilities a chance to thrive at their own pace within a secure, fun-filled,
family atmosphere. Campers will have the choice of participating in fully immersed weekly
programs in various sports and activities led by World Class professional instructors who have
reached the pinnacle of their field, or they can choose to maintain a broad based program
in all activities while still receiving access to the top level instruction offered by our specialists. We want all of our campers to elevate their athletic skills by learning new techniques
and improving upon fundamental basics in their favorite sports and activities. We also want
our campers to enjoy and learn from experiences off the fields and courts. Our goal is for
The Sports Academy at Brookwood Camps to provide a well rounded experience that will
give our campers the tools and guidance to grow athletically, socially, and emotionally.

Scott Brunner (Football)
Following a decorated college career at the University of Delaware where he earned first
team All-American honors and led the Blue Hens to the Division II national championship,
Scott Brunner went on to play 6 season in the NFL as a quarterback. His first stop was
with the New York Giants where he was selected as their sixth round pick in the 1980 Draft.
Brunner helped lead the Giants to their first playoff appearance in
18 years when he replaced an injured Phil Simms as the starter in
1981 going 4-1 down the stretch. He continued to start many games
over the next two seasons with the Giants and was chosen as the
opening day starter for the first game of Bill Parcells’ Hall of Fame
head coaching career in 1983.
Brunner has had much success in his post NFL careers as well. He has become a respected private quarterback coach and earned a great reputation by helping to prepare Joe
Flacco for the 2008 NFL Draft, where he was selected 18th overall by the Ravens. Brunner
has continued to mentor many high school and college quarterbacks since who have gone
on to great success in college and the pros. He is currently the executive vice president of
Chris Chambers (Football)
Chambers played 10 seasons in the NFL as a wide receiver for the Miami Dolphins, San Diego Chargers, and Kansas City Chiefs. The 2005 Pro Bowl selection finished his career with
58 touchdown receptions and over 7,600 yards receiving. He was known for his game breaking speed (he ran a 4.33 at the NFL Combine) and flair
for making acrobatic catches. Chambers was selected
in the second round of the NFL Draft in 2001 out of the
University of Wisconsin impressing scouts with his size
and speed even though he played in a predominantly
run oriented offense for the Badgers.
Chambers currently lives in South Florida where he opened up a training center
for athletes called “The Chamber.” He trains many top youth and professional

Gary Lewis (Soccer)
Gary started his soccer career as an 8 year old boy at his home town club of Manchester
United and spent the next 9 years there as a schoolboy and youth trainee player, playing
with some of the worlds most established soccer players in the game. He then signed a
contract with Stockport county who were then in the English championship and stayed there
for a further 4 years as a professional before a serious knee injury finished what was potentially a promising career.
Having spent time with sports brand adidas, he then travelled to the USA to gain experience
as a coach and subsequently started working with Oldham Athletic in the English football
league. He has spent the past 13 years developing young talent at the club producing a
high rate of players capable of playing for the first team as well as players for the English
premier league.
His experience has seen him work closely with Manchester United on recruitment and talent
identification around the world and has provided opportunities for American based players
to train with Manchester United. He also has a network of global soccer organizations and
professional teams and continues to provide opportunities for players from around the world in helping them gain professional
contracts wherever that may be.
He is in partnership with PSA of Long Island and together they provide quality coaching from recreation to elite level from Long
Island, New York to Toronto. The experience of both Gary and PSA has seen major development in many academies across the
mentioned regions and has helped many players achieve college recognition and higher in terms of professional contracts abroad.
