Team USA Results: 6th Place Team
Team USA top placers: Women: Mikaela Lee (48 kg), Christina Roman (70 kg),
Men: Tom Shih (Men's 65 kg). All were able to secure 4th place in their individual weight categories.
Indiya Bush Long (Women's 52 kg) placed fifth, while Ivana Chang (Women's 48 kg), Maisie Lee (Women's 52 kg), Elizabeth
Chang (Women's 56 kg), and Ryan Chen (60 kg) placed sixth. Alva Ervin (Women's 82 kg), Taiyo Marang (Men's 60 kg) and
Emmanuel Khangah (Men's 75 kg) did an excellent job fighting for the sixth place, and Joseph Harrison (Men's 75 kg) and Vincent Lai (Men's 90 kg) finished in the top eight.
In 2015, Team USA traveled to Wenzhou, China, to compete in the first ever international tournament which awarded prize
money for the top eight finishers. The total number of competitors had increased compared to previous years; due to the monetary prizes and continued growth of shuaijiao around the world. The tournament stadium was energized by local fans cheering,
buzzing media, and many government officials. The city greeted the tournament with large banners placed along the road leading to the tournament grounds. There was an abundance of Chinese and Mongolian fighters who represented two full teams
each. Additionally, there were also two strong Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macau teams stacked with experienced fighters, and
from the equally tough European nations were teams from Russia, Italy, and Spain. The environment was intense for the threeday tournament. Despite the heavy competition, Team USA (which brought 20 competitors and 23 coaches, trainers, doctors,
and fans) put up a good showing against the international shuaijiao competition by walking away with an overall 6th place team
trophy.
Congratulations to all the members of Team USA for their hard work and effort. This rare moment was an experience of a lifetime. The joyous moments of team spirit and national pride were something special to be a part of.

Team USA visits Central Police University in Taiwan
Last year’s 2015 Team USA traveled to Wenzhou, China, to compete and also to visit the teaching grounds of Grandmaster Chang
Tung Sheng and Dr. Weng at Central Police University in Taiwan.
The first stop across the Pacific was the famous Central Police University in Taipei. After a brief video overview of the deep history of the University, team members warmed up and sparred with the cadets as part of their regular university shuaijiao class.
Over 100 students participated as our team members had a chance to compete in over 30 matches in less than 2 hours! The practice served as a warm-up to beat the jet lag from the long US flight and a great chance to experience how the police cadets train in
their curriculum courses. After the workout, Team USA was treated to a scrumptious lunch in the University President’s private
dining room and received gifts from the Vice-President of the University.
