The Captain’s Log
Ahoy Palencia passengers and crew,
Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!! We have had a very successful first couple of days and we are off to a great start of the school year! However, there is one
tradition that I would like to break. Every year, so far, PES has had a rainy day dismissal on the first day of school. Even if this does become tradition, it is evident by
how patient and helpful everyone was that we can deal with some rain. Thank you
again for your patience. As a reminder, Friday is the first day that all the Kindergarten students will be here. This will again cause the parent pick up and drop off line to
run a bit slower. In addition, we will have a PSA helping with traffic this Friday morning.
NO SCHOOL
Attention parents of Bikers and Walkers: We will no longer be using the Alert Now
phone messaging system to alert you of dismissal changes on rainy days. Beginning
next week, rainy day dismissals will be announced via text message. In order to receive this message, please text ‘@pesbi’ to 904-201-3382. You will get a return
message asking for your name. Please enter your child’s first name and grade.

I still have some exciting news to share with you, but I think I will save some for future
editions. Please be sure to read the newsletter each week. Last year we alternated
weeks with the PTO eBlast, but this year we will send out a combined newsletter. So
keep an eye out for the Pirate’s Post each week!

Music notes
Hey, Pirate Parents! As summer
winds down, I know you are
wondering what to do with all those
pool noodles cluttering up your
home… and the answer is, donate
them to PES’s music department!
Yes, I am serious! Pool noodles
make great rhythm tools and we
could sure use a set of them… so if
you have any spares, please send
them in to the music room.
Thank you!
