Lowan came out victorious with a winning margin of 74 points over Kowree, finishing with 356 points and Kowree 282 points. P R I N C I P A L ‘ S R E P O R T We are over half way through the term and I hope that all our students have found a good study and homework routine to build on what they are learning in school. Most importantly, our Primary students are making sure they are reading at home on as many days as possible. We really need parent help with this. Parent teacher interviews will be held on the 22nd of March so that you can catch up with your child’s teachers. Make sure that you put that date into your diary. Of course, if you would like to see one of our teachers before then please give them a call at school to make an appointment. Congratulations to Lowan for their winning efforts on Friday. It was a great team effort. Overall, I felt all the students participated with enthusiasm both in and out of the pool. Well done to both teams. Our Secondary students will be going to Dimboola on Tuesday to compete in the Little Desert competition. The Kowree swimming sports for Grades 3-6 students will be here on Thursday. We wish all our swimmers the best of luck. If you get a chance to cheer them on at either event I know they would love to see you there. A big thank you to David Keating and Steve Charlton who organized the Swimming sports and the parents and friends who were there for support and to cook the BBQ. Once again, a big thank you to the pool committee for running the canteen, providing a lifeguard to watch the children in the little pool and for having the 25m pool ready for our use. Congratulations to Jordan who has been accepted in to the Bangarra Dance Theatre’s youth program being offered in Horsham. The ‘Rekindling’ program is designed to inspire and develop the next generation of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander story -tellers by using dance to connect with their rich cultural heritage. Jordan went to Horsham last week to participate in a workshop and was selected during their audition process. The experience ends with a performance in the Horsham town hall. We will have more details about the performance leading up to it. On the weekend, was the Snowy River visiting weekend. From all reports Carl, Sophie, Brandy-Lea, Hayley and Kira are having a terrific time. Although, they were really pleased to see their families and to be able to spend some time with them. They are back on campus and already working on their Community Learning project, which they are presenting on the 11th of March. I will be meeting up with them via video conference. Please don’t forget that we have our Working Bee this Friday starting at 3.30pm. There are some bigger jobs such as putting out top soil in front of the remaining primary building and bark chips under the playground. However, there are also some smaller jobs as well. There will be something to keep everyone busy. The school will provide refreshments. Hopefully, you can all spend a bit of time here helping out. Finally, well done to all those students who’ve experienced success with their Summer sports. We have a few trophy and grand final winners amongst our students. Check out the local papers to see if you can find any familiar faces.
