Go to Punta Galera to enjoy the amazing
sunset, laying on one of those huge flat rocks,
where you can also can get “homemade” sea
salt from Alex, the friendly cave man who is
living from donations from the visitors.
Drive past the airport to Cala Sa Caleta, park
at the restaurant and have a little walk along
the coast towards the old ruins to enjoy the
amazing view. After that get one of Ibizas best
paellas and try the “Cafe Caleta” at the traditional ibizenco restaurant down by the beach!

Visit the probably biggest accessible cave on
the island near Cala Comte beach. To get there, turn left right before the beach at the bus
top and follow the dust road till the very end.
You will be surprised how beautiful it can be to
watch the sea through a giant hole while you
are sitting almost in the dark.
Check out the 3D art installation close to Boutique Hostal Salinas in the big old salt storage.
The entry is free all summer, it takes 20 minutes
of your time and is definitely worth the visit!
Put some trainers on and park at the Salinas
beach parking, follow the dusty path into the
pine woods which will lead you to some small
private coves where nudists like to sunbath.
At the very end you will find a pirate
tower which is the closest geographical point to Formentera
from Ibiza.
When was the last time
you did something for the
first time? At the end of Talamanca beach, after Sa
Punta restaurant, is
one of the most
amazing spots
for cliff jumping.
From 2 to 12 metres everybody
can set new goals
and let some fears go!
Have a proper Sunday in
the North of the island, starting
with Cala Lenya flea market, followed by the San Juan arts and craft
market with live music, and then
enjoy some sunset drumming at Cala
Benirras. After these activities you will definitely
feel that Ibiza has become a part of you forever!
Try one of Ibizas famous villa parties. Most
incredible locations with good vibe people
are waiting for you and you are tasting the
latest trends from the island. Try to make
friends with some season workers! It’s hard
to get your name on the lists, but NOTHING
IS IMPOSSIBLE! Spend at least one whole afternoon on a boat, sailing on the blue waters
and watching the island from a different perspective! Whether on a private charter, excursion or even a boat party - being on board is
priceless and unforgettable!
Don‘ts
Don,t just party all day and night and get lost in
clubs. The island has so much more to offer, especially in the country-side where you will find
the most interesting sights to discover.
Don,t take a plastic bag for everything you buy
in the supermarkets, please! They tend to give
you bags for every little item, not being aware
of of how terribly this affects the island and all
the marine eco system. Be smart and use one
of those cool Ibiza baskets or a cotton bag!
Don,t only spend time at the same bach club
infront of your hotel, as the island has so many
amazing spots to offer which often are not advertised but can be found by asking the locals.
Don‘t eat the usual dishes you know from
home! Ibiza is an international place where so
many cultures meet. Try to eat something you
have never tried before and get some new
cooking ideas as a souvenir.
Don,t bring huge speakers to the calm
beaches as many locals go there to get away
from the loud environment. Always respect
others and you will be respected ;-)
Don,t be rude to Spanish people when they
don‘t speak English fluently and maybe have a
hard time understanding you because of your
dialect. Instead try to learn some words Spanish! You’ll need them one day, trust me!
Don,t carry your most important belongings
to the crowded nightclubs like ID and all credit cards, as unfortunately especially in high
season there are many pickpockets around.

Let’s just go
Insane have been seriously changing the
game of partying in Ibiza. Traditionally,
every weekly night on the island has a
resident headliner – or, sometimes, more
than one. Still, every clubnight brand is
strongly associated with certain DJs
who invest a lot of time and effort in
building this very brand, attracting
the loyal crowd and keeping the
dancefloor packed every week.
Insane, although, chose an alternative
way: this event series keeps inviting
several artists on rotation, distributing
the dates among some very
prominent musicians that have
been enjoying a huge support
on the island in the
last few years.
Theoretically, that could have been a risky
affair – but for Insane it was just the perfect
choice and it’s really working wonders.
Insane is taking place at Pacha every Friday
till October 7th. It’s an impressively long
season, and every single date is absolutely
worth it. Launched not that long ago, in
2013, this in-house brand of the club has
built a strong reputation for itself and
managed to become one of the most
popular and exciting nights of the venue.
This year, Insane is featuring four events
on rotation, each one headlined
by one of the most beloved and
talented DJs of the island’s dance
circuit: “Knee Deep in Ibiza by
Hot Since 82”, “Area 10 by MK”,
“Vagabundos by Luciano” and
“We Are The Night by Nic
Fanciulli”.
Potentially, each one of them could have
been a huge night in its own right, and some
even were: Luciano’s Vagabundos were
enjoying mind-blowing success years before
here in Pacha and in other locations as well.
Nic Fanciulli together with Joris Voorn used
to be hosting highly acclaimed La Familia
party at Ushuaïa. But it can’t be denied that
Insane now, due to the synergy effect, is
performing wonderful, gathering all of these
impressive talents under one roof.
Sometimes an unusual and unorthodox
approach unexpectedly turns out to be the

most efficient
one, and that’s
exactly the case with
Insane. The line-ups for
the two remaining months
of the season are very strong
and competitive. There is one last
Knee Deep in Ibiza date ahead, which is
August 5th. On that night, Hot Since 82 will
be spinning alongside Dennis Ferrer, Cristoph
and Guti (live). Vagabundos have secured
three nights for themselves: on August 12th
Luciano will be joined by Livio & Roby, Ezikiel

back-to-back with Ryan Crosson,
Mirko Loko and Gianni Sabato on
the bill.

planned. Funky Room is a true hidden gem
of Pacha, and once it’s discovered, it will
be appreciated and remembered by every
clubber forever.
Honestly, Insane is one of the most attractive
options for a Friday night in Ibiza and a
big hit of Pacha weekly programming.
The music is absolutely top-notch, being
not mainstream yet not the wildest
underground. The public is classy
and beautiful, maintaining the
highest standards of Pacha
Ibiza. The ambiance is
fantastic and making
every guest want to come back many times
again. The very name of Insane is a fabulous
choice: being here, you completely lose
connection with the outside world and get
transported into an alternative reality based
on cutting-edge beats and the incomparable
vibes of Pacha. This season the club has
found a perfect balance between more
mainstream events and the ones featuring
more underground music,
and
Insane
have
been undeniably
instrumental in
that process.
As for the infamous Funky Room of Pacha,
it will be soundtracked every night by the
long-standing residents of DJ Pippi and
Willie Graff. Please do make sure you pay a
visit to that small and charismatic dancefloor
upstairs! Sometimes it happens so that
punters firmly believe they need to stay on
the lower floor, where the biggest headliners
are spinning, and pop in Funky Room just
by chance. However, this lovely dancefloor
never fails to deliver, and it often happens
so that occasional passers-by stay here for
many hours, which was not quite initially

If there ever was a mascot of the international techno scene, it is him: Carl Cox. Amiable, good
humoured teddy bear, the always smiling party animal, who, while over 50 himself, still boasts
the stamina to outlast even the most strong-willed twenty-something on the dancefloor.

Halfway
through
the season we can
already confirm that this
“last chapter“ of the Carl Cox
story at Space is surpassing our wildest
expectations. With almost every night a sell
out, Tuesdays draw a wild crowd of island
faces as well as tourists flying in from all over
the world, just to feel it once again: The force
that is Carl Cox in the most awarded club of
the world that will close its doors forever. It‘s
the perfect melodrama that could‘ve come
directly out of Hollywood, if it weren‘t the
rather sad reality.
But let‘s not get carried away and save
ourselves the tears for the closing party.
Because until then there are still some
parties to be celebrated, with a line-up that
is rather mouth-watering than eye-watering.
Cox made sure to invite some of his most
faithful and talented companions
over the years, and the amount of
legends coming down to Space once
again is stunning. Sasha and Fatboy Slim in
early August for instance, two of the British
veterans that have shaped the party scene of
this island immensely and are still very much
in demand DJs with a full tour calendar.
August 16th sees an American takeover of
Music is Revolution, with the two innovators
Kerri Chandler and Josh Wink working
their magic. With a combined fifty years
experience on the dancefloor and together
over 200 ground breaking releases, this night
is promising to offer something for the most
sophisticated music-heads.
Not less historical will be the only Ibiza
appearance of Masters at Work for August

23rd. The Grammy awarded house duo
of Little Louie Vega and Kenny Dope
Gonzales always brings a touch of retrobling from the disco era, which will go down
a treat on our beloved Space terrace. Bring
your hats, we‘re sure Louie Vega will bring
one of his rather extensive collection.
Oh, and the same date also sees the return of
German techno-Meister and Hyte headliner
Loco Dice! Don‘t we all remember at least
one of the many closing parties of the last
seasons when Loco played, often b2b with
Carl? We hate to say it, but August 23rd is the
very last chance where this could happen at
Space. Keeping our fingers crossed...
Finally, in September, there are three more
Music is Revolution dates and in the month
that sees the return of many experienced
music lovers to the island, Cox keeps the
legends coming. What about the pioneer
of the British party scene in Ibiza – John
Digweed on September 13th? With Marco
Carola also on the line-up, this night will
undoubtedly sell-out, so don‘t say we

haven‘t warned you to come early.
Cox himself will play the Discoteca every
Tuesday, except on August 30th (when
Adam Beyer will step in for the man of the
house). Furthermore, there will be one more
special set on the Sunset Terrace: For the
penultimate party, on September 13th, Cox
will play a special early house set at around
11pm.
Don’t forget: For the emotional closing party
on September 20th Cox will play a long
overdue all night long set, ending a 15 year
era at Space with a fitting 8hours+ set and
lots of tears.
Every good fairy tale ends with the phrase
“and they lived happily ever after“. And Space
too will live happily ever after, if only in our
vivid memories that can never be stained by
grim reality. To quote Ozzy Osbourne: “I‘m
just a dreamer, I dream my life away...“

producer Timo Maas has
crafted himself into quite
the underground techno talent
since then. Still managing to secure
mainstream plaudits in the shape of high
profile pop artist remix duties as well as
crafting his less high profile guise has
enabled Mr Maas to lead a somewhat
double life. Here‘s what he had to say
when we caught up with him recently!

There is always one, for sure! For example
the Red Hot Chili Peppers, or Tito & Tarantula.

Can you please tell us a little bit about
how you became involved with Sir Paul

McCartney on your new single ‚Nineteen
Hundred and Eighty Five‘?
It`s actually a long, ongoing story. I heard
the original song for the first time about 7
years ago. I was able to get the multiparts
for it via some very good contacts and tried
a few times to re-interpretate it. It never really
worked out until I got back to it last year with
my partner James Teej. Very happy with our
results we sent it to Sir Paul but without any
expectations really. Our dream was some
general feedback from but he came back to
us because he loved it and gave us permission
for a release. Here we go!
How did you feel when you met Paul
McCartney in person?
For someone like me from the small town
in the countryside, loving music and being
a DJ for nearly 35 years it was supercool and
very surreal, too. But let’s say that, he is a very
nice man and we had a short but also very
intense chat. And the best: I hugged a Beatle,
hahahahaha!
What exactly was your part in this
project?
I had the idea to give this oustanding original
song a modern touch, a re-interpretation,
that somehow fits into the modern world,
without being cheesy or predictable but most
essentially cool and in favour and respect to
the original song and artist. James and I never
really thought that this going to be released or
anything. We did this for fun, for challenging
ourselves to see how far we can go in our
friendship and collaboration.

You are also involved in another
interesting collaboration with Loco Dice
and Martin Buttrich. What is it all about?
Some while ago after not working together
for 7-8 years I did a new song with Martin.
We met in the studio and immediatly got
creative together. I love to work with him,
he is an outstandingly amazing producer,
sound designer and engineer. Now this track
is gonna be out end of August on a 12“ with
another collab song of Martin with Loco Dice.
So somehow the old rat pack is back!
Sounds like a busy time for you! What
else is in your production pipeline right
now?
Plenty of things! I’m about to release a new
EP on Sasha’s Last Night on Earth, just
did a remix with Teej for the Black
Butter label in the UK, and got
some more original tracks and
collaborations coming up.

You are playing on the island a
couple of times this season. What
characterizes your bond with Ibiza?
Coming since 2000 I have seen the island
changing in every direction. I have been always
involved in some very cool parties at DC10, for
Ants, etc. I love it for what it is - the centre of
electronic music, although it had “cooler“ times.
But without a shadow of a doubt, it still is the
world’s epicentre of electronic music.

You are viewed as someone
who pushes the boundaries
musically. How do you constantly find
motivation to be inspired?
I am a very restless person and I have always
been. When something works for me, I change
it. If good or bad, but that drives me. My life is
so full of inspiration and I’m always trying to
channel it into my music. I’m very grateful to
be in the position I am, and I hope this is going
to go on in the future, too.
What’s the difference between playing,
let’s say, Ushuaia sunset and the DC10
main room?
It’s a completely different thing obviously, but
both of them are great venues and parties on
their own. I enjoy the darkness and underground
feeling at DC10 as much as I like the laid-back
and groovy vibes playing a sunset set at Ushuaia.
I enjoy both and I think both are in their fields
some very good and cool places to play.
What in your eyes are the current pitfalls
amongst the current young generation of
DJs and producers?
The whole scene is an ongoing competiton but
not essentially between old and young. More
importantly, it’s about relevance and reputation.
What is your fondest memory of your
time in Ibiza over the years?
Thank you very much!
If you could be the king of the world,
what would you implement first?
Peace and getting rid of religion in general.

In love with
trippy nomads
Bedouin
Ibiza parties are retrieving their spirituality.
While thousands of punters are still stomping
their feet eagerly to the sounds of big room
music, more experienced and discerned
clubbers are impatiently looking out for
something more elaborate and charismatic.
If you are hungry for events with tailor-made
concepts and intricate tunes, try to catch
Bedouin playing in Ibiza.
Bedouin is the guise of two off-the-hook
Brooklyners of Middle Eastern origin, Rami
Abousabe and Tamer Malki. Their sets are
trippy and idiosyncratic – the kind of music you
would expect to hear at Burning Man (where
they did play, in fact). Their own productions
are just as mesmerizing. So far they have been
going at a speed of one EP per year, releasing
them on Supernature, Kindisch and Cityfox,
adding to that masterly crafted remixes for the
likes of Dance Spirit, WhoMadeWho and LUM.
So far, there are three dates confirmed on the
island for the duo. The first one is August 7th at
Beachouse in Playa d’en Bossa, the other ones
on August 17th and September 16th for the
new WooMoon open air at Cova Santa – an
event of incredible artistic input, where music
is blended together with theater and art.

The Queen of Deep
As a DJ often you’ll be defined on where
you are playing. The credibility to play a set
at Ibizas underground-shaping Circoloco
party at DC10, for instance, is not to be
underestimated. Francesca Lombardo’s
several DC10 appearances have given her
more of a push towards a bigger and more
in-the-know audience than any other gig
could have.
This summer with several sets at Ushuaia
for Ants, the Italian born and London based
DJ is taking a logical next step, without
ever compromising her musical vision. The
classically trained musician is undoubtedly
walking her own path in electronic music,
including a live set which incorporates
instrumentals and her DJ gigs full of
captivating melodies and mesmerising
rhythms, are creating some rather dramatic
stories on the way.
Along with her Ants gigs Francesca is
currently applying the finishing touches on
her first album, the essence of what she’s all
about as an artist. Expect live instrumentals,
with Lombardo’s classical upbringing and
some rather grand orchestral compositions.
Since her first release on Crosstown Rebels
in 2012 Francesca has certainly come a long
way. You’d be a fool to miss out on her set
on August 20th.

The Black Madonna
The very name of The Black Madonna sounds
intriguing enough to make people want to
get to know who she is. And she is… well,
different!
She caused a sensation in 2012 when
appointed a new resident of Smart Bar,
the oldest independent venue in Chicago,
along with such heavyweights as Frankie
Knuckles and Derrick Carter. Fast forward a few
months, she was the creative director of the
venue which never ever had one all along its
impressive history. Reshuffling the residency
programme, she made a bold move of inviting
Honey Dijon, DVS1 and Honey Soundsystem
to perform regularly at the club.
Her own DJ style is embracing a broad
spectrum of genres from electro, techno to
disco and all the way through many shades
of house. She played Panorama Bar, at Sonar
festival and for Boiler Room, which seems to
tell a lot about a pedigree of a DJ.
So far, The Black Madonna hasn’t recorded
a full-fledged artist album but she created a
slew of EPs, released from 2012 till the current
moment on such labels as Stripped & Chewed,
Argot, The Night Owl Diner and Home Taping
Is Killing Music. Her remixes were featured
at Fabric mix series, her set was delivered on
Essential Mix and the massive pop star that is
Robyn is delighted by her danceable remixes.
Her Ibiza debut happened to be just a couple
of weeks ago when she was spinning along
with The Martinez Brothers, Kerri Chandler,
Tania Vulcano and D’Julz at Circoloco. Later on,
her next appearance at DC10 took place in July
which was Paradise night where she played
along with Jamie Jones and Guy Gerber.
Playing at Space on August 7th at “Sundays
at Space” and on Wednesday, September
7th, at DC10!

Project on August 27
Is there anything cooler to do in Ibiza than
listen to an impeccable set by a DJ based in
Ibiza? The residents of the island have to work
their way up to the top really hard – but it’s
every tune worth it. Welcome: Davina Moss!
On the production front, the last couple of
years have been very prolific for Davina. In 2015,
her music was out on such renowned imprints
as Hot Creations, Natural Rhythm, Upon.You
and Dragsonor. In 2016, her tracks have been
signed to Armada Deep, Form Music, Defined
Music and Kaluki, as well as Klaphouse and the
above mentioned Hot Creations. She spends
a day in the studio with Hector Moralez, you
can hear her music on Warriors Season 5
compilation by Mark Jenkyns and Leftwing &
Kody, while Hot Since 82, Matthias Tanzmann
and Mendo gladly include her tracks in their
charts.
This summer Davina is regularly performing
at the Zoo Project. The infamous open-air
festival prefers to keep their line-ups secret,
sticking to “unannounced surprise line-up
policy” - yet once you are there, don’t miss this
lady spinning. Her sets are always fascinating,
innovating and captivating. All in all, it’s not
by chance she was appointed one of the
winners of Break The Glass Ceiling competition
by Sankeys Ibiza, aimed at detecting the best
female resident DJs of the island.

Tasnadi
Part of Moon Harbour crew, Sven Tasnadi
is a household name for German clubbing
culture. However, his international gigs
are taking him also to Ibiza, playing on
September 17th at Sankeys, a club that
is first and foremost associated with
British crowd. Thus, it would be especially
interesting to introduce the artists to a that
particular audience – and gosh, many eager
visitors of Sankeys were born after Sven
tried his hand at djing for the first time,
which was in 1995.
Originally from Leipzig, he was part and
parcel of the local scene first as a clubber,
then as a DJ and then as a producer. His
first gig out of the town happened to
be in Tresor, lucky guy! The pivotal point
occurred in 2005, when Sven made good
friends with Matthias Tanzmann and
Daniel Stefanik. Since then he released 2
albums on Oh!Yeah! as well as in 2015 on
Moon Harbour, and numerous EPs on such
imprints as Cargo Edition, Moon Harbour,
Smallville, Pokerflat and Cocoon. His music
received full appreciation and approval
from his namesake Sven Väth – and that’s
quite a blessing for a German DJ.
In 2011 Tasnadi debuted as a live act
together with Juno6. His latest EP, Such
A Thing, created together with Matthias
Tanzmann, saw light in July on vinyl, and his
inspiration is endless.

Do you like true, proper techno? If you do,
your Sunday night itinerary must include the
Materia party by Marco Bailey, taking place
at Privilege’s Vista Club weekly in August
(August 28th is the closing!). And if you are to
choose one particular date, may it be August
21st, when Marco will be playing a 6-hour
back-to-back set with Shlomi Aber.
If we speak about djing, Shlomi Aber has
been in the game for over two decades
already, and over 15 years if we speak about
producing. Ibiza has been going crazy over
the Israeli DJ for years, and in 2014 and 2015
his glory was solidified by the fact of winning
Sankeys Awards as the Best Techno DJ. His
tracks has been released on the labels every
artist of the genre is dreaming to be featured
on: Cocoon, Renaissance, Cadenza, Desolat,
Ovum and others. His own Be As One
imprint has been setting the benchmark
for the underground electronic sound ever
since its inception in 2007.
We had a chance to listen to Shlomi at the
Materia opening where he was playing right
before Marco Bailey. He was dark, crisp and
absolutely uncompromising – given that the
room’s panoramic windows were fully draped
in black, it was quite an epic experience. The
6-hour back-to-back, however, is promising to
be even more of a bomb!

Mathew Jonson
The name of Mathew Jonson rings a bell
with those who appreciate unorthodox
approaches to house and techno sound. He
is distinctive, he is recognizable, he is at the
forefront – which is no wonder given that his
father was working in sound technology.

As a kid Mathew joined the musical world
by playing jazz drums and piano, harnessed
synthesizer at the tender age of 9 and
got carried away by hip hop as a teen.
Originally from Canada, he couldn’t resist
the temptation to move to the European
clubbing Mecca that is Berlin and built a jawdroppingly equipped studio there.
As for the releases, Mathew went the unusual
way. Honing his skills, he recorded plenty of
tracks without releasing any of them – and
then, suddenly, they all saw light in a very
short period of time, catapulting their creator
to a big producer’s fame. Following 2001’s
debut, his numerous EPs and three albums
have been released on Perlon, Kompakt, M_
nus, Crosstown Rebels and his own Wagon
Repair and Itiswhatitis imprints.
He is also a part of Midnight Operator, Modern
Deep Left Quartet and Cobblestone Jazz
bands. Yet in Ibiza he is booked as Mathew
Jonson for the following dates: August 11th
for Solomun + Live at Destino, September
4th for Viva Warriors at Sankeys and
September 15th for Afterlife at Space.

The man with the red mask
REDSHAPE
Reshape is one of those mysterious artists who
don’t like to disclose their biography, details
of their private life or even their face. When
he performs, he always wears an enigmatic
red mask. His official site hardly tells anything
about him, except providing his discography
and allowing to listen to some music.
In one word, that’s a perfect DJ for Onyx, the
party that invites its guests to explore the
darker side of Mondays at Space. Redshape is
booked there for August 29th.
The only thing that his fans know of him more
or less for sure is that his name is Sebastian
Kramer, he is German and lives in Berlin. He
always plays spontaneous, never preparing
anything in advance. He has been actively
producing since 2006, releasing his creations
on such imprints as Delsin, Present, Music Man
or Styrax. Your can always feel direct Detroit
influences in his music – yet he takes it all much
further, developing his own unparalleled story.
Earlier in June it was announced that
Redshape starts a very special series of EPs
to commemorate the beginning of his live
performances, which was 10 years ago. The
EPs will be out on different labels (starting with
Running Back on August 5th), and each of
them will contain previously unreleased tracks
from his past lives.

You are lucky to be in Ibiza right now: this summer is the last one that Avicii keeps holding
his weekly residency at Ushuaïa. Moreover, next year he stops touring at all. He just stops,
and that’s it. One of the most brilliant musicians of nowadays has opted for a calmer life, and
we can’t but respect his choice. Also, it’s just fabulous that he warned millions of his fans in
advance, so that we know we shouldn’t miss a show of his.

his real name, as
written in the passport) will come back on
stage one day, and that will be a complete
sensation – at least, he is not giving up
producing and promises to stay always
connected with music.
Avicii has been a staple of Ushuaïa Ibiza
programme nearly since the inception of
the venue: Sundays used to belong to him
since 2012. Back then, during the debut
season, his line-ups were choke-full of the
artists who later on would establish their
own residencies on the island: Steve Aoki,
Martin Solveig, EDX… That was like a who-
is-who list of all names
meaningful within the
genre, and it went on to be like this during
all the next seasons. Avicii was instrumental
in bringing Ushuaïa to global fame. Along
with Axwell and Ingrosso, his was one of
the longest-running residencies in the
venue, and his name and face are strongly
associated with the beautiful party hotel.
His Sundays usually attract young and very
stylish crowd, that kind of folk who know
perfectly well what’s hot and what’s not in
the realm of dance music. In terms of age,
they are 20-something, in terms of style they
are at the forefront and absolutely cuttingedge. When heading to this event, you need
to dress up, spruce up and learn by heart the
lyrics of at least three big EDM hits of today.
The crowd will be singing along eagerly,
and you will definitely don’t want to be left
outside alone.

Avicii has always been
on the crest of the wave,
spearheading, giving the guidelines and
setting the benchmark. If we speak in
terms of the whole EDM industry, he was
the one who helped to revolutionize it on
an international scale, turning a temporary
trend into a universal phenomenon.
Thousands of girls all over the world have
fallen in love with him which is no wonder
provided that the young Swede has a face
of an angel - just the right poster boy for the
genre. All in all, if his decision to retire will last
for good, his name will go down in history
anyway.
He is stepping back with quite an impressive
discography under his belt. So, being not
able to attend his gigs anymore, we can
at least re-listen to his productions. He has
managed to record two artist albums, True
and Stories, and an impressive slew of EPs
which saw light on such labels as PRMD,
Universal, Vicious Grooves and Capitol. His
own LE7ELS imprint, named after one of his
biggest hits, has released some prominent

tunes by the likes
of Nicky Romero,
Deorro, Lazy Rich,
Norman
Doray,
Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike. He was bold
enough to broaden the limits of the genre
by including country music into his sets
– indeed, the framework of the style badly
needed an injection of some fresh blood.
And that’s, basically, one of the traits that
distinguishes a successful DJ from an artist
of big talent: the audacity to break the rules
and go the less travelled path.
Soon, a documentary will be out on BBC
Worldwide: called Stories and directed by
Levan Tsikurishvili, it will be telling Avicii’s
story from the early days of his massive
career till the very moment he made a tough
decision to finish it. As the DJ explained, he
has always been quite an introverted person
– so it will be
very interesting
to see how this side of
his personality will be revealed in the piece.
At the same time, now that he confessed
it, fans can’t stop wondering: how could
this guy make huge crowds go complete
bananas for years? How much strength did
it take him? And it can’t be denied that his
charisma and appeal are just as great as his
musician’s talent.
There has been quite a lot of speculation
regarding Avicii stopping touring. Rumors
and gossip apart, we need to respect his
personal choice and let one of the most indemand DJs in the world enjoy his private
life. Still, there are enough dates ahead to
enjoy his music, when he will be performing
weekly, surrounded by the crème de la
crème of the electronic scene: on August
7th he will be joined on stage by Carnage,
Morten and Swanky Tunes, on August 14th
by Carnage, Tujamo and Pep & Rash. The lineup for August 21st will be featuring Zedd,
Lost Frequencies, Tobtok and Kimotion, and
August 28th will be soundtracked by KSHMR,
Seeb, Albin Myers and Mambo Brothers. No
matter which week you decide to come, the
music will be top-notch, consisting of the
most forward-thinking tunes in a most stylish
setting right at the peak of Ibiza season.

Line-ups to be announced? It speaks volumes for the trust an Ibizan party has gained
among its followers over the years when it can get away with not announcing any artist
beforehand and rely on the punters’ strong loyality towards this weekly festival!
In a clever move the creative team behind the Zoo Project chose to do exactly that for
their wild parties in San Antonio’s Benimussa Park this year. It is common island knowledge
anyways that Saturdays at the Zoo are guaranteed to be fun, musically sophisticated and
with just the right amount of mess, no matter which international artist is coming to play.

event
which celebrates it‘s
tenth anniversary on
the island this year with a
heavy mix of deep and classy
artists, with large nods given towards the
London and Berlin scenes. With the trusted
booking policy of the Zoo’s head honcho
Defex and his colleagues you can always
rely on interesting artists playing, also with
the odd heavy hitter making a surprise visit
to San Antonios hills. Ricardo Villalobos was
probably the biggest surprise of summer
2015, with his spontaneous set at the lavishly
decorated open air Tree House stage. Other
guest appearances of last summer included
Ilario Alicante or Monika Kruse.
Now already midway through
t h e
summer of 2016 we can already confirm
that the Zoo Project hasn’t faltered in this
season. Evan Baggs has stepped up and
played a number of stand out sets in the
Tree House. We still remember his extended
four hour set, after Ben UFO‘s flight to
Ibiza from Sonar was cancelled. The NYC
born Baggs is one to watch, gaining a fast
growing crowd.
Detroits Stacey Pullen also passed by and
treated the Seal Pit to a masterclass of
chunky, energetic house. Perlons very own
Binh returned and delivered an ambitious
collection of twisted grooves. Italian legend
DJ Ralf and long standing Fabric resident
Terry Francis both played in the unique
atmosphere of the Seal Pit and explored
the darker side of their craft.

Don’t forget Zoo Project favourite George
Fitzgerald‘s closing set in the Tree House at
the beginning of July, with his final track,
Blue Monday by New Order, driving the
costumed crowd crazy.
Of course London‘s Giles Smith and James
Priestley also returned to show their skills
that have kept them right at the top of this
scene, just when they celebrate 15 years of
their Secretsundaze parties.
But let’s look ahead to the next Saturdays,
as the Zoo is celebrating its tenth season
in Ibiza. In a scene where many parties
don’t make it to their third month this is
an impressive feat in itself. Rooted in its
history, the Zoo remains authentic as it
dances to its own beat and shines its own
disco light this year, with a wild, wondrous
adventure down the rabbit hole of the

serving you a selection
of musical mayhem and

performance acts, to witness the evolution
of this unparalleled experience.
An experience that still involves a majority
of clubbers dressing up and painting
themselves as their favourite animal. Don’t
be surprised to see lions, crocodiles, bears
or even dragons and Pokemon monsters
to dance in the sunshine around the pool.
And yes - this is the party where the pool is
not just a mere decoration but where the
promoters allow you to take a refreshing
swim in its waters. So, surrender to the
moment and share a decade of true Ibizan

you could ever get
If you ask a historian of dance music to compile a list of the most important parties in the
world, Sundays at Space will definitely be there. Now that Space Ibiza is 27 years old and is
celebrating its last season of existence, its most famous party deserves special reverence.
Just think of it: traditionally, the most in-demand clubbing nights have been Fridays and
Saturdays. Ok, maybe Thursdays as well, because Thursdays are the last but one working
day in the week – but Sundays are not so normally associated with partying hard. However,

is Ibiza,
and no one cares of
how times flies here.
And that’s how the
infamous Sundays were
conceived. Launched as
an innovative, daredevil
project,
they
quickly
turned into a staple of the
Balearic clubbing culture – all
thanks to the quality of music and
production, and of course to the crowd,
who were the most adventurous and the
most forward-thinking folk of the era.
Sundays at Space used to be afterhours.
People from all the island would come to
Space in the morning to carry on having
fun, and those were people of very different
walks of life and musical preferences – they
just finished partying at some other venue,
and then they would be
queuing at Space door for the
sake of going on for a few more hours.
Moreover, back then there was hardly any
dress code: people could easily come in
in swimwear, looking nearly naked and
wonderfully sexy. That was the golden
time of Sundays at Space, but for very
unfortunate technological reason they
were not too well documented – if you try
to search on YouTube on any other site for
additional memories from those years, you
will manage to find something, but that
would be scare.
Back in the day, it used to be a nearly
round-the-clock marathon, but now, due
to the more severe regulations of the
clubbing schedule, the promoters have to
squeeze all of their impressive line-ups in a
much tighter limit from 9pm till 6.30am. To
some extent, it does make sense: when the
party finishes early, the calm residents of
the island can enjoy their normal everyday
life. On the other hand, it’s not the best

idea ever: if a dance
event has to round off way to
early, it certainly looses some part of
its appeal and doesn’t allow the visitors
enjoy fully its magic and fabulousness.
But fortunately, Sundays at Space have
somehow managed to preserve all of its
beauty and wonderfulness all across the
time, no matter how the laws changed.
On August 7th the Terrace will be occupied
by the joined forced of Amp & Jackathon
projects, featuring Annie Mac, Heidi, Derrick
Carter, Dusky and Kim Ann Foxman, while
the Sunset Terrace, opening at 9pm, will be
ruled by Do Not Sleep concept by Darius
Syrossian, performing an extended set,
joined by Bones, Dazzla and the rest of the
crew. August 14th will be soundtracked by
John Digweed as the main headliner, as
well as 2manydjs, Anja Schneider, Claptone,
Dennis Ferrer, Nick Curly and many more.
August 21st will belong to Freemasons,
Dusky, Doorly, Mar-T, Cajmere, Green Velvet
and around a dozen of other artists. August

bill as Derrick Carter,
Darius
Syrossian,

other prominent Ibiza
resident DJs.
Then, September kicks in
and this is the final month
ever – ever! – that Sundays at Space are

Amp & Jackathon date, featuring Annie
Mac and Heidi as hosts and Daniel Avery,
Denis Sulta and Paranoid London (live)
as guests in the Terrace, while the Sunset
Terrace will belong to Do Not Sleep once
again, headed by Darius Syrossian, Bones
and Dave Chambers. September 11th will
belong to DJ Sneak, Chus & Ceballos, Carlo
Lio, Technasia,
UNER
and
Dave Seamann. On
September 18th you will
be dancing to the sounds
of Doorly, Nathan Barato and
Nick Curly. Finally, the closing
is scheduled for September 25th –
which is a very fine time.
In the last few years there has been a lot
of speculation regarding the extention of
Ibiza season, but, to be honest, the weather
doesn’t always permit it. If you finish the
party series in October, it might be a bit
too cold to have a swim in the sea or a
proper sunbathing session on the beach
– but in September it’s still very much
possible, that’s why
September 25th seems to be just the right
date to call it a day. That night, Josh Wink,
Steve Bug, Anja Schneider, Darius Syrossian
and many others will be performing on the
Terrace, while Ibiza Spotlight presenting
Hivern Discs showcase will be in charge of
El Salon, welcoming three names that are
new and fresh for it: Pional, Marc Piñol and
Daniel Baughman.
Space Ibiza is finishing its mind-blowing
lifestory with as much of a big blast as
possible! Every night of season 2016 is
being historical, and every artist playing
at this legendary dancefloor considers it a
milestone in his career.
So, if you happen to be in the island in this
unique and historical time, you know what
to do on Sunday!

Ibiza Paint party on Tuesdays
has been a true paradise for
those who like the night to be
as colourful as possible: the crowd is
dancing in euphoric abandon under the
clouds of paint to the sounds of cuttingedge EDM tunes. The line-ups aren’t
announced in advance, but you can fully
trust resident DJs DJ Juicy M and Luka Caro
playing every week till September 20th.
Party hard as long
as it’s summer!
The season has reached its climax and the clubs in Ibiza are working at full capacity. Privilege, the
largest of them all, keeps catering for a very diverse crowd, luring VIP clientele to Supermartxe,
techno aficionados to Materia, cheerful youngsters to UniversiParty and urban-style adherents to
I’m A Richbitch. In August it’s going to be busy every night, while September will be considerably
quieter due to the fact that some parties have opted for an early closing.
After a successful debut season, No Xcuses on Mondays will call it a day on August 29th. Before
that, EDX, Nora En Pure and Essigi will be playing weekly, joined each time by a different guest.

UniversiParty on Wednesdays, leaning
closer to pop music and welcoming all
sorts of interactive entertainment, will go
on till August 31st with the line-ups to be
announced – partying there is as intense as
cheer-leading!
Solid Grooves on Thursdays have been going
down a treat with underground devotees,
adding juicy diversity to the club’s weekly
programme. The line-ups for the remaining
dates feature Dense & Pika on August 4th,
Yousef on August 11th and Secondcity
on August 25th. August 18th will bring
in Lost Records Showcase with Cristoph
and Leftwing & Kody, and the closing on
September
1st will be ruled by the powerful tandem of
Anja Schneider, Robert Dietz and Audiojack.
I’m A Richbitch on Fridays is like a breath of
fresh air for those in search of top-quality
urban pop in Ibiza. Residents Jay Santos
and Ale Zuber will keep showcasing their
impressive collection of tunes till August 26th.
Supermartxe on Saturdays have raised the
technological bar immensely, covering all the
huge stage of Privilege with multiple hi-res
screens. As flawlessly as their own resident
DJs read the crowd, there will be some big
international headliners as well: Afrojack on
August 20th and Chuckie on August 27th,
September 10th and October 1st, which is
the closing.
Materia by Marco Bailey on Sundays has quickly
turned into a firm favourite of techno souls, never
compromising with the purity of the genre.
The closing on August 28th will be
soundtracked by Paul Ritch and Black
Asteroid (live), while August 21st will witness
the 6-hour back-to-back by Marco Bailey and
Shlomi Aber.

Welcome the
urban wave!
Ibiza traditionally has been associated with electronic dance music in all its shades
and facets: from house to techno, from EDM to trap, from disco to dubstep. Yet urban
beats keep making more and more waves on the island recently, soundtracking the
dancefloors both in Playa d’en Bossa and San Antonio.
The urban bug was caught quickly and rather unpredictably – but it’s definitely something
that the island needed badly for the sake of diversifying its musical offering and the palette
of its unforgettable vibes. The main haven of this sort of tunes is SWAG club, located bang in
the middle of Playa d’en Bossa, in the basement by the side of Garbi hotel. Many promoters
have tries to take care of this venue, yet no other project has quite succeeded – only SWAG,
that miraculously managed to indentify the needs of the crowd and occupy a spare niche in
the market.
One of the biggest highlights of its programme is Soul2Soul on Saturdays that is enjoying
great and well-deserved success. For the forthcoming weeks, its line-ups will be featuring
Anikdote every night, accompanied by the following guests: Danny D on August 6th, Pro Zeiko
on August 13th, DJ Reg on August 20th, DJ Rapture and DJ Clipse on August 27th, DJ Case
on September 3rd and a big and yet undisclosed line-up for the closing on September 10th.

EVO Klub and OMMS Ibiza are bringing the
best nu school hip hop with international
live acts and DJs such as DJ Change, DJ
H-Keem, Basic-D, DJ Wavy, DJ Maaleek and
many more to Ibiza. German residents DJ
Chico G and DJ Keey are showcasing their
skills weekly, turning the toughest day of the
week into a true hip hop celebration.
Moreover, there is another exciting event
of this style at SWAG which is Latin Beats.
Happening on Tuesdays, it has many cool
gigs in store: DJ Top Dan on August 2nd,

At first sight, it might seem that there are
quite a lot of boat parties in Ibiza. However,
something was definitely missing until recently
- namely, a quality boat with urban music and
world famous DJs on board. From now on, this
niche will be occupied by Dark Pearl, setting sail
weekly from June 23 till September 16.

or Jeremih, as well as BB1Xtra stars and many
other urban talents. At sunset, live performance
will take place, paying tribute to the old
Ibicenco tradition of seeing off the sun that

music showcase will occur with the help of
