The winter weather offers various types of outdoor recreation, as well as a boatload of indoor activities presented by your Park District Recreational Department. Your Park District has focused on a new “theme” for recreational fun, which is “LIVE, LEARN, & PLAY”! Your Park District feels that recreational activity should be a part of everyone’s life, and it also should be fun while you’re learning a new activity to participate in. Here are a few programs that we would like to highlight: • • • • Amazing Race Challenge Piyo® Live Ceramic Painting Jewelry 101 Our Winter/Spring Catalog is full of programs you and your family can get involved in. Please take the time and sign up for any program that sparks your interest. Your Park District Commissioners and Staff would like to recognize and thank all the businesses and local volunteer groups that helped make this past summer’s “Proud American Days” a huge success. Starting on Thursday, July 23 with the opening of the amusement rides and entertainment tent, continuing on through Sunday with the Military Tribute and Car Show, and all the other attractions and events in between, this year’s P.A.D. showcased the true spirit of the “Home of Proud Americans”. This four-day event is not possible without the cooperation of all local government entities, our area volunteer groups, our supportive business community, and of course, the blessing of Mother Nature. Thank you to all of you who came out and enjoyed this year’s event and we hope to see you next year. As I am writing this letter, your Park District office on South Cedar Road, aka “The Lions Den”, has outlived its useful life and is being torn down. Your Board of Commissioners and Staff are working on possible ideas for what we can put in its place, but of course, with the uncertainty of what is happening in Springfield regarding the possibility of a property tax freeze as well as the current shutdown of all state grant programs, any decision that is made will be prioritized, together with all capital projects we have within our District. However, rest assured, any and all decisions will be based on providing the best recreational programs possible, while being good stewards of your tax dollars. Remember…Be Active and Stay Healthy! Sincerely, Brian Fischer Park Board President MENT y Park E T A T S N O nit MISSI ox Commu portunities p e New Len onal o n of th The missio provide safe recreati s and open space, to ilitie District is grams, fac vement of the ro p e rs e iv through d rall goal being impro e with the ov in our community. fe li quality of What’s my name? September 8 and 9 Classes begin the week of September 12, 2016 through May 20, 2017. What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants? 26 Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classes designed to develop social, emotional and physical skills to ensure school readiness. A child’s separation from parents and involvement with a non-family member is one of many major steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides a safe and supportive environment for your child’s first school experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidence through age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction to number concepts and letter recognition. Your child’s quest for learning will be nurtured through creative play, building friendships, working individually and cooperating as part of a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and the awareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games are used for reinforcement and fun. ACTV# Due to priority registration of current 3 year-old Kiddie Kampus participants, there are limited spots available in the 4-year-old Kiddie Kampus program. AGE What requirements are necessary for Kiddie Kampus registration? 1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate MUST be provided at registration. A child must be four (three for the 3-year old program), on or before Sept. 1, 2016 and must be able to handle bathroom hygiene independently (potty trained, no diapers). It is very helpful if the child is able to zip/button independently. 2. A $50 non-refundable registration fee, first month’s tuition, along with a T-shirt fee of $10 (if needed) will be collected beginning March 19 from 8:00am-11:00am while preregistering your child. The remainder of the fees are then divided into eight equal monthly payments. All payments are due on the 15th of the month, beginning September 15th. A late fee of $25 will be assessed to any account that is delinquent. 3. If you pay your full tuition payment at time of registration, the $50 non-refundable registration fee will be waived. 4. A voter’s card or tax bill is required at registration for verification of residency. Our Kiddie Kampus follows New Lenox School District #122’s calendar year for all full days off except for our Winter Break. Musikgarten Program Requirements • Children must be the correct age by 9/1/15, unless otherwise specified. In order to provide your child with the best possible recreational and/or learning experience, all of our programs are planned according to the ages listed in our brochure. • Although your child may turn the correct age during a second session of a program, our age requirement date coincides with the school district’s date to assist with the fundamental growth of the child in the age appropriate programs and therefore would not be eligible for registration. • Classes are for child attending only, except for classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their child. This is in the child’s best interest, as continual interruptions tend to affect participant’s attention span and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships. • All children must be potty-trained, unless they are attending a class where an adult stays with them or otherwise stated in the class description. Diapers are not permitted in independent classes unless stated in the class description. • Please do not bring food to any class, unless previously arranged. • For your children’s safety, all children enrolled in preschool-age programs must be picked up from the specific classroom or program site by their parents or designated guardian. No child will be released from the classroom to anyone other than these individuals. • A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure for all participants is required for all Park District Programs. Classes that require a parent and child to attend are shown with this icon. Ages 6 months-3 years Instead of just another sing-a-long class, Musikgarten offers your child music education at an early age. Your child will bounce, wiggle, sing and dance while they learn rhythm and other musical concepts through activities, games and instruments. This is a wonderful way to bond while they learn and have fun at the same time. All of our instructors are Musikgarten certified. Don’t forget, Musikgarten is a 15 week program!
