Greetings from YOUR
Now that the summer months have flown by and the fall leaves have dropped, we can turn our attention to the
upcoming winter months. The winter weather offers various types of outdoor recreation, as well as a boatload of indoor
activities presented by your Park District Recreational Department.
Your Park District has focused on a new “theme” for recreational fun, which is “LIVE, LEARN, & PLAY”! Your Park District
feels that recreational activity should be a part of everyone’s life, and it also should be fun while you’re learning a new
activity to participate in. Here are a few programs that we would like to highlight:
•
•
•
•
Amazing Race Challenge
Piyo® Live
Ceramic Painting
Jewelry 101
Our Winter/Spring Catalog is full of programs you and your family can get involved in. Please take the time and sign up
for any program that sparks your interest.
Your Park District Commissioners and Staff would like to recognize and thank all the businesses and local volunteer
groups that helped make this past summer’s “Proud American Days” a huge success. Starting on Thursday, July 23 with
the opening of the amusement rides and entertainment tent, continuing on through Sunday with the Military Tribute and
Car Show, and all the other attractions and events in between, this year’s P.A.D. showcased the true spirit of the “Home
of Proud Americans”. This four-day event is not possible without the cooperation of all local government entities, our
area volunteer groups, our supportive business community, and of course, the blessing of Mother Nature. Thank you to
all of you who came out and enjoyed this year’s event and we hope to see you next year.
As I am writing this letter, your Park District office on South Cedar Road, aka “The Lions Den”, has outlived its useful life
and is being torn down. Your Board of Commissioners and Staff are working on possible ideas for what we can put in its
place, but of course, with the uncertainty of what is happening in Springfield regarding the possibility of a property tax
freeze as well as the current shutdown of all state grant programs, any decision that is made will be prioritized, together
with all capital projects we have within our District. However, rest assured, any and all decisions
will be based on providing the best recreational programs possible, while being good stewards
of your tax dollars.
Remember…Be Active and Stay Healthy!
Sincerely,
Brian Fischer

one or to commemorate a Special Event?
Once again, your park district will be offering a live Christmas tree
disposal program for residents. These donated trees will be used

ensure that all donated trees are free from all decorations.
The New Lenox Community Park District’s Commemorative

or placement of a bench in honor of a loved one, organization,
or to celebrate your special occasion. There is a variety of
trees that can be purchased and planted. Please keep in mind
that trees may be purchased at any time, but are only planted
in the spring and fall and benches would be installed weather

be designated with a plaque honoring your request. For further

What is the S.T.O.P. PROGRAM?
S.T.O.P. stands for Stop Trashing Our Parks and represented by

one paw and cash in the other paw. Cash rewards will be paid
for information leading to the apprehension of park vandals.
Individuals providing information are not required to identify
themselves.
Reminder to Pet Owners
When visiting local parks with your pet, please remember that
the Park District and Village ordinances require dogs to be
leashed at all times. Owners are responsible for cleaning up any
animal excrement from public property.

Come and meet the teachers and see what we are all about!
Children ages 3-4 (as of 9/1/16) are eligible for this program.

MEET & GREET DAYS for registrants.
September 8 and 9
Classes begin the week of September 12, 2016 through
May 20, 2017.
What does Kiddie Kampus offer its participants?
26
Children learn many things before going to kindergarten. The
New Lenox Community Park District offers preschool classes
designed to develop social, emotional and physical skills to
ensure school readiness. A child’s separation from parents and
involvement with a non-family member is one of many major
steps towards his/her development. Kiddie Kampus provides
a safe and supportive environment for your child’s first school
experience while increasing his/her self-esteem and confidence
through age appropriate instruction. Covered during the year
are color, shape and number recognition, an introduction to
number concepts and letter recognition. Your child’s quest
for learning will be nurtured through creative play, building
friendships, working individually and cooperating as part of
a group. These activities promote patience, sharing and the
awareness that there is a whole world of people surrounding
and supporting them. Songs, stories, activities and games are
used for reinforcement and fun.
ACTV#
Due to priority
registration of
current 3 year-old
Kiddie Kampus
participants, there
are limited spots
available in the
4-year-old Kiddie
Kampus program.
AGE
What requirements are necessary for Kiddie Kampus
registration?
1. A copy of your child’s birth certificate MUST be provided at
registration. A child must be four (three for the 3-year old
program), on or before Sept. 1, 2016 and must be able to
handle bathroom hygiene independently (potty trained, no
diapers). It is very helpful if the child is able to zip/button
independently.
2. A $50 non-refundable registration fee, first month’s tuition,
along with a T-shirt fee of $10 (if needed) will be collected
beginning March 19 from 8:00am-11:00am while preregistering your child. The remainder of the fees are then
divided into eight equal monthly payments. All payments
are due on the 15th of the month, beginning September
15th. A late fee of $25 will be assessed to any account that is
delinquent.
3. If you pay your full tuition payment at time of registration, the
$50 non-refundable registration fee will be waived.
4. A voter’s card or tax bill is required at registration for
verification of residency. Our Kiddie Kampus follows New
Lenox School District #122’s calendar year for all full days off
except for our Winter Break.

This program provides a secure and caring environment that
fosters growth in verbal development, small/large motor skills

counterparts in a two-day school week. See chart on previous
page for pricing details.

All children must be the correct age by 9/1/15.
Musikgarten
Program Requirements
• Children must be the correct age by 9/1/15, unless
otherwise specified. In order to provide your child
with the best possible recreational and/or learning
experience, all of our programs are planned according
to the ages listed in our brochure.
• Although your child may turn the correct age during
a second session of a program, our age requirement
date coincides with the school district’s date to assist
with the fundamental growth of the child in the age
appropriate programs and therefore would not be
eligible for registration.
• Classes are for child attending only, except for
classes with an adult. Parents should not remain in
the classroom or gymnasium after dropping off their
child. This is in the child’s best interest, as continual
interruptions tend to affect participant’s attention span
and inhibit the establishment of peer relationships.
• All children must be potty-trained, unless they are
attending a class where an adult stays with them or
otherwise stated in the class description. Diapers are
not permitted in independent classes unless stated in
the class description.
• Please do not bring food to any class, unless previously
arranged.
• For your children’s safety, all children enrolled in
preschool-age programs must be picked up from the
specific classroom or program site by their parents or
designated guardian. No child will be released from the
classroom to anyone other than these individuals.
• A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure for all
participants is required for all Park District Programs.
Classes that require a parent and child
to attend are shown with this icon.
Ages 6 months-3 years
Instead of just another sing-a-long class, Musikgarten offers
your child music education at an early age. Your child will
bounce, wiggle, sing and dance while they learn rhythm
and other musical concepts through activities, games and
instruments. This is a wonderful way to bond while they
learn and have fun at the same time. All of our instructors are
Musikgarten certified. Don’t forget, Musikgarten is a 15 week
program!

Ages 3-5
Cherry Hill School Gymnasium
Catch on! Balloon Ball is played like soccer with kids being
allowed to pick up the ball and run with it, throw it or kick it in
one of the two goals for a score. The action is a bit faster, with
fewer rules than soccer so kids are not being corrected as much
in this new fast pace game. Kids will be taught coordination and
balance along with the importance of exercise. Kids just love this
new game that was created by Kids First.

Kids First Blast Ball
Ages 3-5
Cherry Hill School Gymnasium
Batter Up! Blast Ball is the introduction to baseball for 4-5 year
olds. The game is very safe, played with a soft bat and ball,
no glove is needed. Each player bats once an inning and no
scores are kept. Blast Ball consists of one base and it makes a
“honking” noise when a player steps on it. Major League Baseball
recognized Blast Ball as part of its campaign to promote the
resurgence of baseball at the grass-roots level. Kids love it!

Hatha Yoga is used to create balance in the body and the mind.
This is accomplished by looking to the eight limbs of yoga
including asana (physical movement) and pranayama (breathing
exercises). During the course we will discover how the linking of
physical movement and breath work can begin to slow the mind
and release stress. This class is great for people who are looking
to decompress from their day, need low impact exercises that
still build strength. All levels of experience and flexibility are
welcome! For your comfort, please come to class on an empty
stomach (eat two hours before class) and wear loose fitting

PROGRAM CATALOG DISTRIBUTION
NO REFUNDS ARE GIVEN: (1) once a program begins unless a
replacement is found; (2) on material fees unless we cancel a
program; (3) on bus trips; or (4) for Special Events or one-day
programs. A full refund is issued if we cancel a program or trip.
Our seasonal catalogs are distributed as an insert in the New
Lenox Patriot Newspaper. For customers outside of New Lenox,
the Park District relies on the postal service for distribution
of our program catalogs. The Park District assumes no
responsibility for delivery. Please contact us at 815.485.3584 if
you do not receive your catalog.
• When a participant cancels out of a program, a full refund,
LESS a $5 Service Charge (per program); will be granted.
A $5 service charge will also be assessed on all program
transfers. These requests will only be honored if the request
is submitted THREE BUSINESS DAYS prior to the start of the
program or activity.
• All refunds less than $10 will be applied as a credit to the
customer’s account.
• A $30 NSF fee will be added for all returned checks.
• Every effort will be made to process refunds within 30 days,
but in some instances it may take longer.
• We are not able to credit back your charge card purchases.
CANCELLATION
Staff reserves the right to consolidate, postpone, reschedule
or cancel any program due to change in day, dates, times,
instructor, or insufficient enrollment.
For cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances (i.e.
inclement weather, facility emergencies or scheduling conflicts),
which are announced by the Lincoln-Way District #210 or
New Lenox School District #122 at facilities where Park District
programs are scheduled, Park District programming will be
cancelled as well. All attempts will be made to reschedule
cancelled classes. However, the New Lenox Community Park
District is sometimes unable to accommodate make-up classes
and will not refund money in such instances.
FOR YOUR SAFETY
A mandatory sign-in and sign-out procedure is required for all
participants enrolled in any Park District program. Children must
be accompanied by an adult when being escorted to and from
class.
LIABILITY
The New Lenox Community Park District is unable to assume
responsibility for injuries, accidents or loss of personal property
occurring during programs or activities, in parks or facilities.
Such insurance would make programs and user fees prohibitive.
It is recommended that participants make provisions to provide
this coverage through their family insurance program.
SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
If you are (1) a New Lenox resident and (2) cannot participate
for financial reasons, you may be eligible for financial aid.
Please contact the Park District’s Director of Recreation at
815.485.3584 for an interview. Please note that the maximum
household scholarship benefit is $1,000 per year.
MILITARY DISCOUNT
We are pleased to offer a military discount for those who qualify.
Please contact 815.485.3584 for further information and details.
PROGRAM BEHAVIOR POLICY
Participants are expected to exhibit appropriate behavior at
all times. The following guidelines have been developed to
help make Park District programs safe and enjoyable for all
participants. Additional rules may be developed for particular
programs and athletic leagues as deemed necessary by staff.
• Show respect to participants and staff; take direction from
staff.
www.newlenoxparks.org
• Refrain from using abusive or foul language, or from causing
bodily harm to self, other participants, or staff.
• Show respect to equipment, supplies, and facilities. The New

Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center among best
nationwide in patient outcomes.
Presence Saint Joseph Medical Center’s superior clinical quality has earned us a place on Healthgrades’
list of top 50 hospitals nationwide, one of only eight in Illinois, for our low mortality and complication rates.
Simply put, the distinction recognizes hospitals where patients have the best chance of surviving.
Our 480-bed hospital not only offers some of the most advanced technology and skilled medical experts,
but also unmatched amenities that create a more comfortable environment for patients and their families.
As a regional referral center, PSJMC provides such advanced care that other hospitals send their most
difficult cases to us. You have access to sophisticated treatment, such as 24/7 neurosurgery and stroke
coverage, a 52-bed ICU, da Vinci® robotic surgery and a world-class cardiology program, all without
traveling to a downtown university hospital.
