jInternship.ThisuniqueandinnovativeprogramisahybridofJewishlearningand
professionaldevelopment.ItmimicstheJewishidealofplacingimportanceonbothTorah
learningandusingJewishvaluestosucceedinthemarketplace.Intheprogram’sfourmonthformat,you’llhavetheopportunitytolearnaboutJudaismfromsomeoftheworld’s
topJewisheducatorsatMidreshetRachelv’Chayaaswellastoworkalongsidesuccessful
professionalsinyourindustryofinterest.

Sincemoststudentswillworkfordifferenthostcompanies,itisnotinthescopeofthis
Guidebooktodiscussspecificrequirementsfortimespentatyourprofessionalinternship.
Ingeneral,youshoulddiscusstherequirementsfortheinternshipwithyoursupervisorand
ourInternshipCoordinator,BashiRosen.UponarrivalinIsrael,theywillsupplyyouwitha
packetthatincludesinformationsuchasthecontactinformationofyoursupervisor,
directionstoyourinternship,busroutes,properattire,anoverviewoftheworkculturein
Israel,etc.Makesureyouunderstandclearlywhattheirexpectationsareforyou.Itis
equallyimportantthatyoumakecleartothemwhatyouhopetoaccomplishduringthe
internship.
Ifyouhaveanyproblemswithyourinternship,youshouldimmediatelybeintouchwith

3. CollegeCredits
ThejInternshipprogramisnotcurrentlyaccreditedforcollegecredits.However,many
universitieswilloffercreditsforinternshipsdonethroughnon-accreditedprogramssolong
astheinternshipissupervised.Severalpastparticipantshavesuccessfullydonethis.The
jInternshipteamishappytoworktogetherwithyourhost-company’ssupervisortoassist
youinreceivingcollegecreditsforyourexperience.PleasetellBashiRosenorJeffSurowitz
beforetheprogramstartsifyouareinterestedinthisarrangement.Moreimportantly,
makesureyoucontacttheappropriatedepartmentatyouruniversityandthatyou
understandallofthenecessaryrequirementsinordertoreceivecollegecredits.

Studentsareadvisedtoarriveforinternationalflightsfourhourspriortodeparture.
Airlinesveryoftenoverbookandalatearrivalwillsometimesforfeitone'splacedespite
priorreservation.
PleasecheckASAPthatyourtraveldocumentsareaccessibleandhavenotexpired.New
regulationsrequirethatallpassportsarevalidforatleastsixmonthsafteryourtravel
dates.Pleasemakesurethatyourpassportisacceptable.
Inaddition,pleasebeadvisedthatstudentsforwhomjInternshiphasbookedflightswillbe
responsibleforanycostsassociatedwithlatearrivalattheairportdepartureterminalor

Afterclaimingyourbaggage,exitthisareathroughthegreenexit.Oncethroughthe
receptionarea,continueoutsidetothesidewalkandthenturnright.Followsigns(in
English)for,"SheiruttoJerusalem."Fromthereyoucantakeasharedvanwitharound12
passengersallgoingtoJerusalem.Thisisthemosteconomicalwaytotraveltothe
apartments.Thecostshouldbearound$17.Aprivatecabwillcostabout$90.Rachelfrom
PathwaysPluswillhaveemailedyoutheexactaddressofwheretogoandthemadrichato
callonarrival.

PATHWAYSPLUSforWomenisaprogramwithinMidreshetRachelv’Chaya.

CalendarofEventsandLearningProgram
We have not yet finalized the Calendar of Events. The Pathways Plus
team will send it to you in an email. We have a wonderful 4 month
schedule, which includes fabulous guest speakers, exciting
Shabbatonim, and social events and activities such as a singing kumzit
and sushi making. As you are aware, we have classes for 2 days per
week and internships for 3 days. While we have some evening classes,
and some extra classes the first and last week, we will be mainly
following a particular model. We will also send this to you in a separate
email. Topics covered include The Jewish Woman, Jewish Philosophy,
The Development of Jewish Law, Relationships, and other interesting
