The Skaneateles Y Before and After School Child Care
Program provides safe, affordable, quality child care
for youngsters during the hours when there may be no
adult supervision in the home.
The program is conducted and planned by YMCA staff
who are trained to meet the needs of children and provide positive adult models. It is not baby-sitting,
but a quality child care program designed with the working family in mind. Swimming, ice skating, games, snacks and fun. This is a NY State licensed program,
limited spaces available. Busing is provided to school in the morning and from
school to the Y in the afternoon. Breakfast is served in the morning and snacks
are served in the afternoon.
During school delays, our SACC program will remain open until pick up time if
school is delayed, There is no additional charge for this service.
The Skaneateles Y provides care during school closings, half days and snow days
at an additional charge.

Our snow day program offers safe, reliable childcare on the days that mother nature throws a crimp in your best made plans! Children participate in structured,
supervised activities such as swimming, ice skating, games and more… This program is licensed by NY State and as such has limited spaces available.
Registration forms must be completed prior to attendance. You may place a
deposit on your Skaneateles Y account to cover the cost of last minute snow day
surprises, then just give us a call the day of to
register!

Terrific Twos is a nine month early learning program that is offered mid-September
through mid-June. The class focuses on age appropriate skills, large motor development, songs, games, crafts, fun, fitness and kindergarten readiness! Our
dynamic, caring teachers bring their passion for working with the young child to
our program, which encourages growth and development of each child.

Y Pre-School is a nine month program.
Classes focus on age appropriate skills, large motor development, songs, games
and crafts. There will be fun, fitness and emphasis on kindergarten readiness in a
nurturing and safe environment! Our dynamic and caring teachers bring their passion for working with young children to our programs. We believe children learn
best through play and we strive to offer varied activities on a daily basis, including
enrichment such as learn to swim, learn to skate, dance, music and art. Teachers
are trained in CPR, First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention. Different levels of ability,
development and learning styles are expected, accepted and used to design appropriate experiences. Choose between morning and afternoon sessions
with two, three and five day a week programs.

SCS Laker Wrestling
Youth Wrestling Program
Boys and Girls Grades K-6
Begins in early December.
Program will run in the SCS Middle School Wrestling Room.
Sessions are on Tuesday and Thursday nights.
K-3rd Grade 4th-6th Grade

6:00 – 7:00 pm
Wrestlers are coached by several former high school and collegiate champions who
support youth wrestling. The program is scheduled to have several matches with
other programs and an end of season tournament.
Cost is $40.
Parental participation is welcome.

Our team will be led by Susan Benjamin. Sue worked for 7 years as a coach and
choreographer for the Marcellus Gymnastic Team. Sue choreographed dance routines for the team to perform during its competitions.
The Dance team will learn basic jazz and acro style numbers based on popular
music selected by the team members.
The team will seek to perform at local Skaneateles events.

Imaginations soar as children create and build simple and complex structures in
this Lego™ class. Building with blocks or Legos™ develops fine motor skills as well
as spatial reasoning and awareness of proportions and patterns. Kids just know
they love Legos™ and are having fun!

LEGO™ CREATE

WATER AEROBICS
Schedules available at the Member Services desk and online at

Deep Water Fitness: Tone and strengthen your core and increase your energy
level using float belts and barbells.
Shallow Water Fitness: Wash away your stress and rejuvenate your spirit while
you tone and condition your body. This course allows for partial weight bearing
exercises that protect your joints while allowing efficient calorie burning.
Water Fit: Increase your mobility and balance as well as toning your body with
low impact exercise. Great for anyone with arthritis.
Aqua Fit Total Body: This is a full body shallow water workout. Jump in and work
on cardiovascular strength while incorporating resistance training components.
This work out is appropriate for all fitness levels!
Aqua Zumba
Known as the Zumba “pool party !
Integrating the Zumba formula and philosophy with traditional aqua fitness disciplines, Aqua Zumba blends it all together into a safe, challenging, water-based
workout that’s cardio-conditioning, body-toning, and
most of all, exhilarating beyond belief. Aqua shoes recommended!

STINGRAYS SWIM TEAM Ages 5-18+
The Auburn Y Stingrays is one of the most competitive
programs in NYS. Team is open to swimmers who can
swim one length of the pool using the crawl stroke utilizing rotary breathing. Participants must be a Minnow 1/
Level 4 swimmer. Swimmers can compete through high
school and even into college during the summer. Practices
are held 2 to 6 times per week depending on age and level of commitment. Fall
session meets Sept. – Feb. and summer session meets April-August For swimmers
qualifying for state the season extends to mid March and if qualifying for nationals, the season extends into April.

If the student does not qualify for the class, they will be refunded the class
fee minus a $50 testing fee.
Refund Policy: Should you decide to cancel enrollment in the program, we will
refund the cost of the session only if it is more than two weeks in advance of
the start of the session. If it is within two weeks, a credit will be applied to your
account. If you cancel once the class begins, no refund or credit is issued and
you will absorb the full cost of the session. The course cannot be pro-rated or
changed to accommodate scheduling conflicts on the student’s end.

ARC re-certifications must be completed within 30 days of your previous certification’s expiration. Challenges are no longer accepted as a recertification process.

This class is subject to the same pretest outlined in the ARC Waterfront lifeguard
class above, and is subject to the same refund policies as listed above. If the student does not qualify for the class, they will be refunded the class fee minus a $50
testing fee.

Part II: First Aid, Epi Pen and Aspirin Administration
Accidental injuries, including choking and drowning, are the leading cause of death
in children and send over 16 million children a year to the emergency room. Don’t
let your child be a part of this statistic. Take the easy steps to prepare yourself for
an emergency. The first four minutes preceding an accident are crucial in determining how your child’s brain is affected. Learn what to do to take action and respond
appropriately until EMS arrives. Accidents can happen to anyone.

Become certified to teach American Red Cross swimming lessons and water safety.
Participants must pass the pre-test described below. The course includes the
Fundamentals of Instructor Training program and books. Pre-test:

Elementary Backstroke - 25 yards
Sidestroke - 25 yards
Butterfly - 25 yards
Maintain position on back for 1 minute in deep water (floating or sculling).
Tread water for one minute

The YMCA/SSI SCUBA course consists of 1 1/2 hours in both the classroom and
the pool each evening, plus four open water dives.
Certified instructor Henry MacDonald brings extensive knowledge and certification
at all levels of SCUBA diving. This is a 6- week class.

MASTERS SWIMMING
Masters are swimmers who may or may not be members of USMS
(United States Masters Swimming) who get together for a fantastic workout! You must be at least 18 years old to participate and
capable of swimming a minimum of 2,000 yards, with advanced
swimmers covering 3,500 yards or more. The yardage is broken
up into different sets with rest intervals in between.

MASTERS LITE
Incorporates interval training, drills and coaching to help you improve your
strokes. This program is beneficial for tri- athletes, former competitive swimmers,
former collegiate swimmers as well as fitness swimmers. A coach is present and
practices are geared toward a variety of different levels and abilities.

The Skaneateles Y is committed to the health and well being of its members. We
offer a variety of options to help you find a fitness program that works specifically for you. There are over 25 different types of classes taught by 28 very diverse
instructors. Currently the Skaneateles Y offers 70 group fitness classes a week.

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Abs, legs, Core & More
This half hour class focuses on the large muscles of the abdomen, concentrating
on toning and muscular strength. This class dynamically uses bands, physio balls,
and weights to achieve your fitness goals.
Boot camp meets Barre
An interval class that mixes calisthenics and body weight exercises with cardio
and strength training for the first part of your hour will then be followed by, a
barre workout focusing on balance, posture and high energy exercises for the
lower body and core that will promote continual fat burning motion. This Combo
class will sculpt muscles and elongate the appearance of your body.
Barefoot Strength & Motion
A dynamic class done barefoot, reconnecting the mind and body with elements of
cardiovascular endurance, muscle balance, agility, and strengthening, while utilizing techniques to increase flexibility and stabilization in the ankles, knees, and
hips.
Body Sculpt
Improve flexibility, muscular strength and endurance while utilizing a variety of
exercises and workout equipment, tools, and techniques. This class is designed
for all fitness levels and will deliver full body conditioning that is sure to alter
your physique.
Cycling
This high energy class on stationary bikes includes movements and positions with
hill climbs, sprints and interval training. This terrain-based spin class is designed
to improve a riders outdoor skill set and increase endurance while providing
an intense cardio-based workout. Our rides are beneficial in strengthening the
muscles of the lower body. It tones the quadriceps and hamstrings, along with
working the back and hips. Oh, and you will burn the calories with a smile on your
face! (Cyclone is a more intense hour of cycling and will have more core work)
•Amp’d UP - Intermediate/Advanced level class. Come prepared to ride for an
hour. work resistance with speed to safely build your strength and fat burning
potential
•Cycling Blast - This is an fast paced half hour class, designed to give you a cardio
based caloric burn
•Cyclone - An hour class with focus on endurance, suitable for beginners
•Cycling + - Includes core work
•Cycling Technique - an hour ride focusing on the safety and fundamentals of cadence. Great class to establish a strong riding base while improving your position
on the bike.
Fiit Workout
Functional intensity interval training. Uses the method of intervals to help tone
the body and burn fat. These workouts will be 30 minutes to an hour with modifications built for every level.
The Hip Hop Body Project
This high energy one hour class uses natural body movements through hip hop
style dance and strength training to help the muscles we use in our everyday activities become more functionally strong. The endurance and coordination exercises will target your core, burn body fat and define your body beautifully! No dance
experience necessary, just come in to get your "fun-k" on!
Hydro power
Get into the pool for your full body cross training class to increase cardiovascular
response to exercise and breath techniques. Great way to take impact out of your
training and use resistance to increase your over all physique. Must be able to
freestyle swim on a beginner level
Kickboxing
In this class you will strike, punch, & kick your way to a toned physique. This
workout is varied for all participants and is designed to maximize your caloric
output while challenging your overall fitness level. The elements include a militant
use of plyo metrics, bounding, intervals, circuits, as well as various
fitness equipment.
Movin to Music
Think old school Jazzercise…moving and grooving your way to a healthier heart
and leaner body…elements of dance and aerobics make this class exciting and fun.
Pilates
This integrated flexibility class is based on the methods of Joseph Pilates, which
will transform your body from the core. The YMCA’s Pilates program is structured
for participants of all fitness levels and is designed to tone and sculpt your power
house. By utilizing breathing techniques participants will develop a strong abdominal core, while optimizing postural endurance and joint stabilization. Come join
our instructors for an experience that will change your level of fitness.
Prime Time - Barre
A resistance and strength training class on and off the barre which delivers a
combination of aerobic and anaerobic exercises. Classes include different elements of fitness to develop cardiovascular strength and endurance while conditioning and targeting alternate muscle groups. This class is geared for all fitness
levels by offering modifications to each exercise element.
Prime Time - Cardio & Tone
A cardiovascular and movement based class which focuses on aerobic exercises.
Classes include different elements of fitness to develop cardiovascular strength
and endurance while conditioning, a full body. Work on stability and balance while
having a blast!!! This class is geared for all fitness levels by offering modifications
to each exercise element. This class if full of surprises, so don’t miss out on an
energetic and exciting workout.
Prime Time - Strength
A strength training class to work muscles from head to toes. Uses weights, resistance bands and balls to create toning , muscle endurance, and range of motion .
This class will assist participants in gaining functional fitness through fluid motion
and balance.
Prime Time Strength & Balance - Chair based class
Focuses on balance. Involves Tai Chi based movements that will help improve
functional abilities and create strength and mobility. Class will use the chair for
components of the workout. Great for all levels to help create stability for the
whole body.
Rise & Shape
Start your day with this TOTAL body workout that changes as much as the Upstate
NY weather, utilizing various types of equipment and training techniques to get
that body tone!!!
Tai – Chi
This is a gentle art of health and well being that focuses on 108 movements which
will help develop posture while optimizing muscular strength and relaxation, body
alignment, coordination, and balance.
ZUMBA®
Ditch the workout…Join the party! The Zumba program fuses international
rhythms and easy-to –follow moves to create a one-of-a-kind fitness program
that will make you smile from your head to your toes. The routines feature
“intermittent training” or fast and slow rhythms to deliver an hour of resistance
training, sculpting, cardio endurance and fat burning all rolled into a party like
atmosphere.
Yoga Flow
Utilizes Vinyasna breath-synchronization while flowing through salutations and
poses to maximize flexibility and strength. An active Yoga class that focuses on
stretching muscles and working through asana’s while making that mind body
connection. All levels are welcome
Yoga - Building a Stronger Practice - A 45 minute class with a traditional sun
salutation warm up leading into a focus on the physical alignment of traditional
yoga poses to enhance your base and understanding of each pose.
Yoga Fusion
The blending of Hatha yoga to offer a balance of posses focusing on alignment
and breath fused with muscular endurance building and strengthening with focus
on the core. This journey will include Asanas, Pranayama (breathing), Dharana
(meditation), and Kundalini and allow you to utilize your practice to connect the
mind, body, and spirit! All levels are welcome to share in the flow.
Yoga - Gentle
A less intense practice of sun salutation and asana’s are shared with the participants of this gentle yoga class, while still incorporating the mind and body element of the practice of yoga. This is a great class to start your Yoga journey - all

Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is a form of yoga which is performed to stretch the connective tissues
of the body. Primary connective tissues include the hips, thighs and lower spinal
area. These types of tissues do not stretch the muscles (as in the yang form of
yoga) but they stretch and exercise the bone and joints areas of the body
Yoga- Spiritual & Gentle Journey
This class focuses on gentle movements and ancient practices geared towards
enhancing your spiritual journey and how it relates to your physical practice. Incense, oils and pranayama techniques are used to connect the journey to the here
and now.
Yoga - Core & Flexibility
In this yoga you will flow through asanas that will enhance your core strength
while gently stretching you body and lengthening muscles. Applicable for all
levels.

Our fitness room has a free weight area and
cardio equipment which includes eliptical machines, steppers, arc trainers, bicycles and
treadmills. The Fitness Center, located on our
second level, is open during our regular business hours.
Teens over the age of 14 may use the facility. Children ages 12 &13 year old may use
the Center only after having completed an
orientation.

• All games played will consist of three 15 minute stop time periods.
• Registration fee will be $825 per team with $400 deposit required by February
15, 2015. Team slot secured with deposit.
All players MUST be registered with USA Hockey.
•Teams will be competing for the St. Patricks Cup!
