TOLERANCE, UNDERSTANDING,
AND DIVERSITY THROUGH LOCAL
AND NATIONAL PROGRAMMING,
FUNDRAISING, AND GRANTS FOR
THE LGBTQ COMMUNITY, THEIR
FAMILIES, AND ALLIES, WITH A
FOCUS ON YOUTH, EDUCATION
AND COMMUNITY ACTION.
Aspen Gay Ski Week is AspenOUT’s annual fundraiser.
Funds generated are used to fund programs and grants for
local, regional, and national nonprofits that share our
mission to provide support to the LGBTQ community. Here
is a list of grantees funded from Aspen Gay Ski Week 2015.
YO U C A N P L AY : You Can Play is
dedicated to ensuring equality, respect and
safety for all athletes, without regard to sexual
orientation. You Can Play works to guarantee
that athletes are given a fair opportunity to
compete, judged by other athletes and fans,
only by what they contribute to the sport or
their team’s success. You Can Play seeks to
challenge the culture of locker rooms and
spectators by focusing only on an athlete’s
skills, work ethic and competitive spirit.
HRC : The Human Rights Campaign is
America’s largest civil rights organization
working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual
and transgender equality. By inspiring and
engaging all Americans, HRC strives to end
discrimination against LGBT citizens and
realize a nation that achieves fundamental
fairness and equality for all.

community of educators that influences
the culture and climate of individual
schools through positive language, cultural

issues. They strive to inspire students to
create this culture of diversity and climate
of acceptance by providing the language
and tools they need to create positive
change for themselves and their peers by
how they relate to each other.
A SP EN F IL M : Aspen Film strives to
enlighten, enrich, educate, and entertain
through film. Aspen Film organizes a major
movie event in every season, offers an
extensive education program, and hosts
numerous special presentations. Each

They offer one-of-a-kind enrichment
opportunities through their educational

the stigma of mental illness through expert
clinical care, public education, community

MOA B P RIDE : Moab Pride’s mission is
to foster understanding, acceptance and
support for the LGBTQ community living in
Moab and Southeastern Utah. The Festival
serves as a beacon in Utah where people
are invited to come together regardless of
age, gender, religious or political affiliation.
It serves as a celebration of diversity, a way
to entertain, engage and delight not only
the LGBTQ community but the friends,
families and allies, who also share the same

Just steps beneath Aspen’s hottest restaurant, David Burke Kitchen,
there is a new addition to Aspen’s nightlife scene. The perfect postdinner spot for visitors and locals alike, the nightlife lounge features
over 5,000 hand-selected vintage vinyl records and wood-paneled
walls reminiscent of a 1970’s basement. An intimate, destination
hideaway that is always approachable yet impossibly cool, the lounge
taps into the laid-back vibe of the famed ski town that attracts a welltraveled crowd who jet between New York, LA, South Beach, and the

THE ADVENTURES OF PRISCILL A QUEEN OF THE DESERT
320 E. HYMAN AVENUE • (970) 920-5773 • DOORS 8PM, FILM 8:30PM
$15/FREE TO PASS-HOLDERS
The Adventures of Priscilla tells the story of two men, Adam (Guy Pearce) and Anthony (Hugo
Weaving), and fellow transwoman traveller Bernadette (Terrence Stamp) on a trip to the center
of Australia to perform in a drag queen residency show. Originally, Anthony is offered the job
to perform in Alice Springs alone but recruits the rather icy Bernadette — who recently lost her
partner — and the obnoxious Adam to join him on this road trip. Each character has, however,
concealed some secret before their expedition and we see their epic travelling paralleling the
percolating emotional problems of our respective heroes and heroines.

I am the future of the
LGBT community.
I’m gay.
I’m 20 years old. I’m out to
my parents. I love parties,
the beach, and believe
it or not, sports. I have a
boyfriend, and we like to
laugh at dumb online videos.
But I also read the news. I
care about the planet. I’m
studying Engineering at
college. I voted in the last
election and I campaigned
for marriage equality.
Someday I might want to
have kids.
I am the future of the LGBT
community. And I read about
that future every day on my
smart phone. Because that’s
where I want it to be.

Melissa called!
She’s found
your piece
of paradise
in Aspen.
Ice-breaker, heart-melter, instant
connector, damn near impossible to
resist. No matter where in the world
Melissa is – Bali, Great Barrier Reef,
Amalfi Coast, Côte d’Azur, people meet
her and, pretty soon, she’s buying or
selling a home for them. She calls
it a vacation.
ONE LOVE
We call her a global phenomenon.
She’ll present this real estate market
to you in fine detail, while translating
the day’s foreign exchange rate in her
head – and she’s as serious about pure
fun, as she is about flawlessly getting
the job done.
