Dear friends,
It is our great pleasure to share the tremendous success we achieved in 2008 thanks to the ongoing support of our many donors and volunteers.
The Alberta Shock Trauma Air Rescue Service Foundation is extremely grateful for the support received from you, as an individual or part of a community group, service
club or business. Through that continued support, STARS is able to sustain and enhance our patient care and transport program, emergency medical communications,
educational programs and research projects.
Even though we have been facing tough economic times, our donors continue to be supportive of the value of a safe, rapid, highly specialized emergency medical
transport system for the critically ill and injured. In 2008, we transported 1,465 patients from 229 communities in Alberta and eastern British Columbia.
Some of the highlights of 2008 included:
•
Annual direct mail campaigns including address labels, fall campaign and newsletter donations which raised over $1.3 million net funds.
•
Community volunteers helped raise a record $1.6 million through a variety of special events such as dinners, auctions, tournaments, social groups, casinos and
bingos.
•
The 15th Annual STARS Lottery continued to be very well supported and sold out early with net revenue of $9.1 million.
•
Legacy Gifts to STARS were over $370,000.
•
The STARS Calendar campaign raised a record net goal of $1.3 million.
We can’t thank you enough for your support, particularly now with recent economic conditions which put a strain on our donors. As a non-profit, charitable organization,
we truly appreciate the thoughtful giving that enables us to carry out life-saving missions. Be assured, your donation makes a difference in the lives of many people who
are unexpectedly injured or become critically ill.
