Fort St. John is centrally located within British Columbia’s oil and natural gas industry and is considered to be the central
business hub for Northern BC. The population of Fort St. John is expected to grow by 7.9% between 2015 and 2020,
while the Peace River Regional District is also expected to grow by 7.0% within the same time frame. Population growth
is largely considered to be due to the inflow of young people relocating for work in the energy sector, a promising
trend that will be sustained by long term projects and several secondary industries in the city and regional district.

Fort St. John is home to the largest proposed infrastructure project in Canada, the Site C Clean Energy Project, which is
valued at $8.8 billion. This 1,100-megawatt hydroelectric earth fill dam on the Peace River will be a source of long-term,
low-cost clean energy. The project was approved in December 2014. The project is expected to generate 35,000 jobs
directly and indirectly through a 10-year project construction timeline.

Due to strong growth within the city, Fort St. John recently received approval for the expansion of city boundaries in
September, 2014. This expansion of city limits saw 11 parcels of land annexed.
The current success and future potential of the oil and natural gas sector in Fort St. John have fostered several
secondary industries in the city and surrounding areas: pipeline construction, wellsite construction, trucking and seismic
companies continue to migrate to the city, bolstering and supporting the existing economic mainstays. Surrounded by
4.5 million hectares of forest, Fort St. John is also a major producer of lumber products.

Phase 1 will be anchored by Canadian Tire, Mark’s Work Wearhouse and Canadian Tire
Gas.
Easily accessed from the Alaskan Highway (Hwy 97), the major north/south route linking
several Northern major B.C. communities to the development.
The Landing at Fort St. John is the only viable large scale commercially-zoned
development in the Fort St John area and, upon completion, will become the largest
shopping centre within the Peace River Region.
West Fort St. John has seen significant residential development in recent years, with an
abundance of future growth potential to supply the rapidly growing population.
