A N N U A L R E PORT 2 0 1 2 -20 1 3 A MESSAGE TO THE COMMUNITY RCTV began its 20th Anniversary celebration in November 2012. It has been a banner year, marked by growth, new endeavors and investment for the future. Just three years ago, we began upgrading the station, creating a new sub-control room and purchasing equipment to enhance the quality of programs produced at RCTV. Over the past year, we’ve made additional investments that are the culmination of careful thought, research, budgeting and work. They include paying off the mortgage on RCTV’s building, installing new studio lights, purchasing three state-of-the-art JVC High Definition studio cameras and adding advanced digital recording capabilities. Over recent months, we have been working on a new website that will better serve our members, producers and viewers. All these enhancements are designed to increase member and producer benefits and to expand the ways in which we serve our community. The new and colorful window décor on the front of the building is an external reflection of these many internal changes. In the past 12 months, there have been expanding collaborations with community organizations, such as the one with The College at Brockport SUNY. Through this partnership, we are producing Pythodd Remix, to be broadcast in January, focusing on music, the arts and jazz. Kabutey Ocansey Board President Beginning in early June, our 20th Anniversary Film Forum and Speaker Series, held at the Cinema Theater, shed light on important topics of local and national concern. This series, plus increased community outreach, connected us to fresh, receptive audiences who are enthused about RCTV’s mission. Increased membership has resulted in stronger demand for studio time, classes and professional development workshops. To address that growth, we’ll be developing broader offerings in a variety of media-related areas. As we look forward to 2014, RCTV is poised to transition toward becoming RCTV Media Center, a community-oriented resource that will maintain education and community service at its core, and that will grow to meet the demands of Rochester, a community growing in vibrancy.
