Biographies of Judges
Robert York – is a professional non-profit specialist in
the areas of corporate partnerships, special
events, artist/talent management and development in
Washington, DC. He is a native Oklahoman and he has been
involved with the LGBT community of Washington DC for over
16 years. Robert served six years as the director of Capital
Pride from 1999-2005, and director of AIDS Walk Washington
from 2003-2005. Robert has served on the Board of
Governors for the Human Rights Campaign, Board of
Directors for the Gay Men's Chorus of Washington, Team DC,
PFLAG-DC, and The Mayor's Advisory Council for GLBT
Affairs.
Robert has been the owner of Miss Gay DC America since 2006. In three of the last
four years, Miss Gay DC America has won the national crown of Miss Gay
America: Victoria DePaula in 2009, Coti Collins in 2011 and Kirby Kolby in 2012.
Robert is an active team member of the Federal Triangles Soccer Club, the Club
Hippo softball team and the Washington Freedom Professional Soccer
Organization. Robert is a resident of Arlington, VA with his two "four-legged" kids,
Madison and Wilson.
Tammy Faye Taylor – A 25 year veteran of female
illusion, Tammy Faye Taylor is a former Miss Gaye
Universe (D) and former Miss Gaye USA (DC). She still
entertains and enjoys mentoring new queens and drag
kings coming up the ranks. Tammy is the mother of
Ophelia bottoms and Xavier bottoms DC’s premier brother
and sister drag team. She is the owner and promoter of
the Miss Gay Fredericksburg pageant. She loves comedy
and often does comedic routines.
Tammy is also a certified makeup artist and hair dresser,
and a rights activist who supports both human and normal
rights. Her license plates even say two paws up.
Kris McLaughlin – Kris McLaughlin was president of the
Arlington Gay & Lesbian Alliance (AGLA) for four years and
continues to help with AGLA activities like this one tonight.
She also served as a judge for the first two Miss Gay Arlington
competitions. In 2006 Kris was recognized as a Capital Pride
Hero and in 2008 she received the Arlington Equality Award.
She was a Community Advisory Board member for Whitman
Walker Clinic/NoVA until it closed. Kris was appointed by
Arlington County Board to serve on Arlington’s Diversity
Dialogue task force, and she is on WETA’s Community
Advisory Council.
Fidel Morin – Originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, Fidel
retired from the U.S. Navy after 20 years of honorable
service. Moved back to his home town and soon thereafter
joined the Imperial Court of Corpus Christ (TRE) in 2007,
where he was a line member and later voted in as a board
member.
In 2011 Fidel moved back to Washington, DC where he
became a member of The Imperial Court of Washington,
DC (ICWDC). Strongly supporting the court in its inaugural
year where he was voted in as a member of the Board of
Directors. In 2012, he was elected Emperor I. As Emperor I
of the ICWDC, he has vigorously made it his personal commitment to forge a wider
community relationship with various organizations in the DC, Maryland and Virginia
communities.
Fidel truly believes in the purpose and mission of The Imperial Court of Washington,
DC and that of the International Court System, which is to raise funds for
organizations, including but not limited to those supporting just the Gay, Lesbian,
Bisexual and Transgender (GLBT) communities and play a significant role in the many
local GLBT communities, spearheading HIV/AIDS services, human rights advocacy,
youth enrichment and to promote cooperation and communication among member
courts, create awareness and visibility, and stake our place in GLBT history.
Shelby Blake Stephyns – Shelby is thrilled to be
judging the Miss Gay Arlington for the second year. She
is the current Miss PW'S Sports Bar 2012 and The
Academy of Washington's Vice Lady. Previous held titles
include: Miss Gaye Zodiac, Miss Black & White, Duchess of
Beekman Place, Showstopper Award and shockingly (to
some...) Mr. Maryland Leather.
Shelby's passion for the theater has allowed her to start a
new campaign for all First Ladies of the Academy of
Washington. Starting this year, the new first ladies will
chose a charity to sponsor and this year she has chosen
then amazing Broadway Cares/Equity Fight AIDS. In
addition to helping raise monies for this most amazing
charity, she has also given her time and talents to help raise money for Grandma's
House, PFLAG, The GLCCB, Pets-DC, The PW'S titleholders, Contestants for Miss Gay
Maryland and other benefits around the area.
You can check her out performing all over the city at venues such as PW'S Sports
Bar, Remingtons, Town DC, Freddie's, Wings & Things, and the Black Fox Lounge
where she is part of the permanent cast of their brand new Sunday Night show,
Tula's Cabaret @ The Black Fox Lounge.
She wishes the very best to all the contestants and congrats on a glittery job to
Stardust!

CookOUT for Marriage Equality with couples
across the Commonwealth in anticipation of
the Supreme Court’s upcoming decisions on
Prop 8 and DOMA. This is about bringing LGBT
people together with friends for a weekend of
celebrating the relationships our government
does not. Hosting an event helps EV put a human
face on Virginia’s couples that could be impacted
by the court’s ruling.
