Bezalel Academy of Arts, Jerusalem, Israel & Rachana Sansad's Institute of Environmental Architecture, Mumbai International Certificate Program on Sustainable Design “Small is Beautiful: A Study of Design as if people mattered” Dates: 11- 18 August 2016 Venue: Rachana Sansad, Prabhadevi, Mumbai; Bezalel Academy of Arts, Jerusalem Introduction: Can design influence human behaviour for sustainability? In what way can building design help reduce the ecological footprint of human beings? Through a short, interdisciplinary and intensive course, students and professionals from Mumbai, India will collaboratively work with students from the Bezalel Academy of Arts, Jerusalem, Israel and assess how sustainability in buildings is related to human behaviour and what aspects of this can be studied and used to increase sustainability index of buildings. In a week-long workshop involving field visits, surveys, lectures and design studios, students and professionals from Mumbai and Bezalel will explore what kind of spaces suit different family structures in different cultures, and how this influences human consumption of natural resources. The Aim of the workshop is to develop a humanistic, interdisciplinary approach to sustainable design of habitats Key aspects of the workshop: o o o o o o o Design that is accepted by people How design can influence human behavior for sustainability Involving stakeholders in the design process Multilateral and interdisciplinary Promotion of experimental didactic and research Development of an Index as an innovation model towards sustainability Testing and dissemination of sustainable solutions for society at large Who can participate? o o Students of Architecture, Interior Design, Industrial Design and Applied Arts Architects, Interior Designers, Industrial Designers, Applied Art & Visual Communication Professionals Exchange Program*: Interested participants will get the opportunity to be part of an exchange program and participate in a simultaneous workshop in Jerusalem, Israel for period of 10 days.
