As of December 13, 2009 Galveston Island now has a 350.org presents. Only the two
of us were able to make the 350 candlelight vigil. It was a pretty nasty day and we really didn't
want to go out, but this was important. We made this statement for Galveston Island's
participation at the Copenhagen Climate Conference, official. Greater things have started with
fewer than two people though. In fact more people are offering to become involved now that
they are aware just what "350" means and that we must get C02 back down below 350 parts
per million in the atmosphere if we wish to continue living in this area, as we have. Together
perhaps, we can help the Houston Galveston Bay Area gain a stronger voice in Combating
Climate Change and Sea Level Rise! We must do this.
Last summer at this spot in the photo, at the "Sand Castle" competition, I recall the
beach was maybe 1,000 feet beyond this point. We are at the Front Gate of the East Beach
Park in this photo. When I spoke to the Galveston Parks Department Friday they said they
have been having problems with subsidence and high tides. The post you see stretching way
off into the fog and surf are designated parking markers. Kinda brings it all a little too close to
home to ignore any longer.

I also attended the Vigil in Houston Saturday night starting at Mecom Fountain. It was
fun and I met allot of nice people that Care about this planet and who are willing to Do
Something to Help Save It. People like you and me. We walked with our 350 Banner and
candles for 3 miles. Hundreds of people waved and honked in support.
One car passed close, rolled down the window and someone yelled "Global Warming is
a Hoax". Wouldn't it be wonderful if that were true, I thought. It would all be so much easier to
deal with just a hoax. What about all the NASA satellite photos of Antarctic ice shelves
breaking up? The Larson-B, the Müller and Pine Island ice shelf and more recently the Wilkins
ice shelf. Not to mention the Arctic photos showing much of the Arctic Ice has already
melted! And then there's Greenland. A hoax, I'm afraid not. I suppose it just goes to show the
forces of disinformation and seeding confusion and denial are alive and well. Its easier for
some people to believe pretty lies than to face the cold hard truth and the need to Act.
On our walk one senior gentleman, like me, actually tripped and hit the pavement twice,
Hard. It was dark and the sidewalk was broken and slippery. He got right back up, dusted off,
and completed the whole 3 mile march. That's Tenacity and much to be Admire. So, if we slip
and stumble or even get assaulted and torn, we must get back up and dust it off. We have a
long hard ways to go to save this planet and it won't be easy, But it will Be Worth It! I Promise.
- Again Time Is Short, There Is Much To Do, We Must Be Expedient
Best Wishes For A Cleaner Greener Planet
