April 5-15, 2016 Encore! Concert and Awards Ceremony Wednesday, April 20, 2016 6:30 pm | Arden Theatre City of St. Albert Community Grant Program 2 - St. Albert Rotary Music Festival 2016 www.st-albertmusicfestival.com The St. Albert Rotary MUSIC FESTIVAL Message from the Board of Directors There is no more powerful way to build a community than to celebrate a love of the arts. We welcome everyone to come to see and hear some wonderful music and dance performances by our youth – some of whom will go on to professional careers in the arts. All performances are open to the public. On behalf of the Rotary Club of St Albert and the St Albert Rotary Music Festival Association, I have the privilege of expressing our appreciation and thanks to the musicians and dancers as well as their parents and teachers for the dedication they have put into getting ready to perform at this year’s Music Festival. We take pride in putting on our Festival, which involves nearly 2000 musicians and dancers with more than 750 adjudicated performances. We are particularly appreciative of the more than 200 volunteers who will organize the performances at our venues. Our focus on educational evaluation of each performance will continue with adjudicators of national level expertise. The St. Albert Rotary Music Festival operating costs are over $80,000, which includes $12,000 in scholarships and awards. These costs are being met by the generosity of individual and family supporters, St. Albert and area businesses, government and community agencies, local churches and the members of the Rotary Club of St. Albert. Please take a moment to read the list of supporters of Rotary Music Festival 2016 and consider adding your name to the community of St. Albert Rotary Music Festival supporters. See you at ENCORE! on April 20th – a night to remember. Page 28 Thanks to the Volunteers Each year, St. Albert Rotary relies on hundreds of volunteers who offer their time to make the annual Music Festival an outstanding success. We couldn’t do it without you. This year we have 53 sessions in the Festival, with approximately 800 entries. Volunteers run the sessions, host the adjudicators, help at the Encore! Event and everything in between. On behalf of the performers, teachers, adjudicators, parents, and all of us at the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival . . .Thank You! For information on volunteering, phone the Festival Office at 780-419-2658 or 780-458-8967 In its 39th season of nurturing performing artists, the St. Albert Rotary Music Festival will have a whole new look. We hope you are as excited about it as we are. The new logo was designed by professional designer Carrie Mattern of St. Albert. It speaks to the vitality of our young artists. The three blocks of color on the left represent stylized hearts ... symbolic of the Festival’s love of music. They create a striking image of rhythm, flow and harmony as with music itself. The swirl on each of the hearts is like a curled arm, a show of strength; in this case, a show of talent. 4 - St. Albert Rotary Music Festival 2016 www.st-albertmusicfestival.com 2016 FESTIVAL AT A GLANCE Tuesday, April 5 AM PM Wednesday, April 6 Monday, April 11 Tuesday, April 12 L Musical Theatre SA Junior Piano L Strings SA Piano I L Classical Guitar SA Prep Piano ARDEN Band UNITED Choral ARDEN Band UNITED Choral ARDEN Dance L Musical Theatre ARDEN Band L Musical Theatre SA Junior Piano L Musical Theatre SA Junior Piano L Strings SA Piano I & Junior Piano L Classical Guitar SA Prep Piano ARDEN Band SA Prep Piano UNITED Choral ARDEN Band SA Piano II UNITED Choral SA Junior Piano SA LYLE MOORE CLASS L Junior Piano SA Piano I SA Prep Piano SA Prep Piano Family Music SA Piano II UNITED Choral SA Piano II UNITED Choral ARDEN Band L Composition SA Piano II ARDEN Jazz Band EVE Saturday, April 9 ARDEN Band L Musical Theatre SA Junior Piano Wednesday, April 13 PM Friday, April 8 ARDEN Dance L Musical Theatre EVE AM Thursday, April 7 Thursday, April 14 ARDEN Band SA Piano II ARDEN Band SA Piano II Friday, April 15 VENUES L Vocal L Vocal ARDEN Arden Theatre, 5 St. Anne St. L St. Albert Evangelical Lutheran Church 11 Glenview Cres.
