Come to hear the sounds and experience the skills
of the Morse code message senders aboard the
ill fated Titanic, who called for help from nearby
ships, moments after she hit an iceberg. Try your
hand at Morse code, and learn about the radio
of the day. As part of the activities, a team of local
radio amateurs have a licence to run a special
event radio station, call sign GB0TI.
They will put out calls ‘into the
ether’ not knowing who will reply
and from what distance away, just
like it must have been in the
radio room on board the
RMS Titanic. They will also
exchange greetings with
other towns in the UK and
other countries with a
Titanic connection.
