complex database document without sacrificing speed or quality. Real-Time Page Processing
The :Dotrix Transcolor’s TechResearch © IPDS (intelligent Print Data Stream)
FS45 controller eliminates bottlenecks using Streaming IPDS , scalable
data-processing technology that provides unlimited processing power. Using
Myrinet © architecture, it distributes processing tasks to a “cluster farm” that
can house an unlimited number of clusters. The result is real-time “ripping speed” regardless of project complexity and color density.
Seamless Integration
Agfa’s IPDS solution integrates seamlessly with the industry standard
workflows. For total compatibility, a connectivity path to PDF workflows can
be included as well, using Agfa’s :Apogee X workflow tool.
A New Level of InkJet Technology
High Quality at High Speed
The :Dotrix Transcolor combines the highest quality inkjet technology with a
unique print engine to break the barriers to quality and speed.
Drop-on-Demand
Agfa’s drop-on-demand piezo inkjet heads use the grayscale principle to vary
the sizes of the droplets that create the printing dot. The heads generate eight
levels of “gray” for each ink color that makes a single dot. This allows the :Dotrix Transcolor to simulate the smooth gradations achieved by a nondigital, multilevel device, such as an offset printing press.
Stochastic Screening
Also known as FM (Frequency Modulated) screening, it differs from
conventional AM (Amplitude Modulated) screening by generating more or
fewer dots (depending on color density) in a non-linear pattern. This creates the continuous-tone or screenless appearance of a photograph.
The :Dotrix Transcolor screening works with the “grayscale” inkjet
technology, to deliver 900 dpi output resolution. You get rich, high-quality color images.
SPICE Engine
The Single Pass Inkjet Color Engine is another reason the :Dotix Transcolor
can deliver full color at high speed. It is configured with a static array of inkjet heads that span the entire printing
width. With the maximum paper width (65cm) you can print A4 pages, 3-up,
on both sides of the paper (duplex) in a single pass. The high-speed system
produces up to 648 A4 pages per minute. The :Dotrix Transcolor is configured
with a roll-to-roll feed for uninterrupted printing.
Add a rewind and finishing solution for even greater productivity.
