Elevating classical dance in the hearts and minds of millions
New York City Ballet
One of the foremost dance companies in the world, New York City Ballet is renowned for
the athleticism and lyricism of its dancers, and for its ability to present the largest repertory
in the field of classical ballet. Founded by legendary choreographer George Balanchine and
philanthropist Lincoln Kirstein, New York City Ballet presents dance of unrivaled excellence,
while consistently developing new work of the highest order.
New York City Ballet continues to build new audiences through extensive touring, public
outreach and curriculum-based education programs, and by nurturing the next generation
of dance professionals through the New York Choreographic Institute and official training
academy, The School of American Ballet. Such activities bring more and more people to
the ballet, promote the highest artistic standards, and elevate the classical dance form in
the hearts and minds of millions.

World Leader
New York Philharmonic
The New York Philharmonic is one of the world’s most celebrated orchestras. As the oldest
symphony orchestra in the United States and one of the oldest in the world, the New York
Philharmonic has performed more than 15,000 concerts —a milestone unmatched by
any other orchestra. Since its inception in 1842, the New York Philharmonic has been
renowned for vibrant performances of traditional and contemporary repertoire, and has
been committed to the commissioning and performance of new works. The New York
Philharmonic is deeply dedicated to sharing its music, whether at Avery Fisher Hall or on
domestic and international tours, in addition to providing year-round educational programming
for children and adults, and maintaining its position as a world leader in the use of new media
distribution of its performances through broadcast and digital media.
“The pre-eminent theater in the country.” — The
New York Times
Lincoln Center Theater
Now in its 27th year, Lincoln Center Theater has earned
praise from countless quarters for its exemplary productions,
and has been named as “the pre-eminent theater in the
country” by The New York Times.
Since the Theater’s re-establishment in 1985, LCT has
received a total of 66 Tony Awards —for the magnificent
epic, War Horse, for Tom Stoppard’s trilogy The Coast of
Utopia, for acclaimed revivals of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s
South Pacific and August Wilson’s Joe Turner’s Come
and Gone, as well as for many other memorable
productions throughout the
Theater’s history. LCT plays,
musicals, and revivals have
been seen by millions of
theater-goers at the Vivian
Beaumont Theater, the Mitzi
E. Newhouse Theater, at
Broadway and Off-Broadway
theaters, and on national tour.
The new LCT3 Claire Tow
Theater for works by new
artists opened in the late
spring of 2012. In addition
to producing plays and
musicals, Lincoln Center
Theater sponsors numerous
educational and outreach
programs for youth and
students throughout
New York City.
Producing more professional ballet dancers than any other school in the United States
The School of American Ballet
The School of American Ballet is the official training academy of the New York City Ballet,
and the premier school of its kind in the country. Since its storied founding by legendary
choreographer George Balanchine and philanthropist Lincoln Kirstein, the School of American
Ballet has produced more professional ballet dancers than any other school in the United
States. Extraordinarily accomplished faculty members guide the transformation of talented
students into professional dancers, and prepare them for placement in leading American
and international ballet companies. Beyond the classroom and studio, students are offered a
unique opportunity to gain performance experience dancing in New York City Ballet productions.

Enhance awareness, accessibility, and understanding of the
art form among a broad and diverse film-going audience
Film Society of Lincoln Center
Founded in 1969, the Film Society of Lincoln Center celebrates American and international
cinema, recognizes and supports new filmmakers, and enhances awareness, accessibility and
understanding of the art form among a broad and diverse film-going audience. As an independent
constituent of the world’s foremost performing arts center, the Film Society of Lincoln Center
presents year-round programming that premieres new films from an international roster of established
and emerging directors, and is best known for its two world-class film festivals – the New York Film
Festival and New Directors/New Films. The Film Society operates two year-round cinemas (the
Walter Reade Theater and the Elinor Bunin Munroe Film Center); publishes Film Comment, the
country’s most respected cinematic journal; and, each year, honors an individual whose work has
left an indelible mark on the history of cinema at its Chaplin Award Gala.
Making an indelible impact on the quality of the performing arts
The Juilliard School
The Juilliard School is the only private conservatory in the
country to offer study in all three performing arts disciplines
of music, dance, and drama. With a long tradition of more than 100
years of educational and artistic excellence, Juilliard continues
to make an indelible impact on the quality of the performing
arts in America and the world. From Kevin Kline to Laura Linney,
Yo-Yo Ma to Renée Fleming, Paul Taylor to William Forsythe,
Juilliard alumni are among the leading luminaries in the performing
arts today.
Juilliard is also a major contributor to the cultural life of New
York City, offering nearly 700 performances at Lincoln Center
each year. In 1999, for its unparalleled standard of excellence in
arts education, Juilliard was awarded the National Medal of Arts,
the U.S. government’s highest honor for the arts.
A vibrant home for the most creative and talented
artists working in opera
The Metropolitan Opera
The Metropolitan Opera is a vibrant home for the most
creative and talented artists working in opera, including
conductors, composers, musicians, directors, designers,
choreographers—and, of course, the world’s greatest singers.
Known as a venue for great voices for more than 125 years,
the Met has embarked on an ambitious program to increase
significantly the number of new productions from the world’s
most imaginative directors, to elevate further the company’s
theatrical standards, and to secure increased commitments
from opera’s greatest stars. Thanks to live, high-definition
performance transmissions to movie theaters internationally
through the Peabody Award-winning Live in HD series (later
seen on public television), an online subscription service for
streaming hundreds of opera performances, an around-the-clock
satellite radio station, streaming of performances on the web,
and the continuing tradition of the Saturday matinee radio
broadcasts, the onstage excitement at the Met today reaches
millions around the world.
America’s foremost repertory company for Chamber Music
The Chamber Music Society
of Lincoln Center
The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center is America’s foremost repertory company for
chamber music. Under the artistic direction of cellist David Finckel and pianist Wu Han, CMS
presents an extraordinary roster of world-class artists in its signature series at Alice Tully
Hall, in the more intimate Daniel and Joanna S. Rose Studio, and in concerts around the
globe, drawing more listeners to chamber music than any other organization of its kind.
Beyond the concert hall, the Chamber Music Society offers a rich variety of activities to
inform, to educate, and to draw new audiences to chamber music. Through far-reaching
educational programs, live, recorded, and televised performances, extensive commissioning,
radio broadcasts, new music series, and young artist programs, CMS actively promotes a
love and appreciation for a body of music that can be said to be among the finest
achievements of our civilization.
