Croatia is known for its long tradition as a Mediterranean Eden for camping enthusiasts.
Camping tourism in Croatia is very well developed and widespread, and Croatian campsites
are particular because of their ubication on attractive and extremely well-preserved
natural locations, most often very close to the sea.
The Croatian Camping Union which comprises almost the entire Croatian camping
offer, is proud to present Croatia’s top quality campsites in this brochure.

INTRODUCTION

The campsites
are located in particularly enchanting locations, under the natural shade of Mediterranean vegetation and directly by the sea
(except for SlapiÊ, which is placed by the river Mreænica). They
have a rich catering and shopping offer and various sport and
recreation facilities. Sanitary facilities are equipped with many
conveniences for adults, children and people with special needs.
They contain: washing and drying machines, areas for chemical
toilet emptying, even private toilets or single cabins for washing,
as well as a separate areas for pet care. All campsites dispose of
one or more areas for the discharge of chemical toilets directly
from the vehicle
In Croatia, any form of camping in free areas outside registered camping
sites, or parking areas for caravans and motorised campers, is forbidden and
is punishable by law.
The selection criteria are
clearly defined
Campsites must meet one of the following requirements:

ÌÌ Meet the minimal technical requirements for 3*, and have a specially
good quality of sanitary facilities,
plots, general equipment, sport and
entertainment, confirmed by the
Croatian Automobile Club inspectors
during their visit to the campsites.

The peninsula in blue and green shades, lapped at three sides
with crystal clear pure sea, on the very exit from Italy and
Slovenia to Croatia, with beautiful beaches, a hinterland which
contains a rich cultural heritage, medieval forts, olive and
wine roads, superb gastronomic offer...
Information
Istrian coast length: 445,1 km, sea temperature during
summer season: 23-24°C, average summer temperature:
23°C. Pine woods and evergreen underbrush cover 35% of
the peninsula, thus during the summer months campsites
have excellent shade. Mild Mediterranean climate: warm,
dry summers, mild and pleasant winters.
Beaches
The Istrian sea is the warmest in Europe. The prevailing
neat, paved and safe beaches have pine shade in the back
and numerous attractions, including areas for children,
the elderly and the disabled. As many as 50 Istrian beaches
own the Blue Flag symbol, and frequent measurements
continually monitor the sea quality. Seclusion enthusiasts
shall enjoy the rocky and pebbly coves and beaches of
numerous little islets...
Active Holiday
Water sports, snorkelling, windsurfing, paragliding, cycling
(2,600 kilometres of cycling trails), tennis (430 courts), golf,
volleyball, beach volleyball, five-a-side football, horseback
riding, sport climbing, hang-gliding, caving, hiking - there is
enough to satisfy even the most adventurous visitor!

Gastronomy
Istria is renowned for its traditional dishes made from fresh
seafood, caught the same day in the rich Istrian waters, or
from home-made supplies coming from the Istrian inland.
Surely among the most famous delicacies is the magnificent
aphrodisiac truffle, while home-made Istrian ham and wild
asparagus are not far behind...
Istrian wines are recognized worldwide, and especially
renowned are the Istrian malvasia and teran - you may
taste them when touring one of the six Istrian wine roads,
with almost 70 wine cellars. Don’t forget the olive roads,
as well!

Sights
Each angle of Istria is a real postcard worth to be admired.
Istria was named after Histri, first known inhabitants of this
peninsula. Its churches, the authentic architecture with vaults,
balconies, stony blocks, stonewalls and paved streets, the profane
and sacral monuments left by numerous populations beginning
from the Ancient Romans are interdicted here with amazing
natural beauties…

The medieval picturesque towns - forts proudly
standing on the Istrian hinterland’s hills: Motovun,
Gračišće, Grožnjan, Momjan, Boljun, Dvigrad, Roč,
Lindar., Hum… all towns of artists, dreamers, of a
rich history, witnesses of past times… (1)
Standing on a peninsula, the ancient part of Rovinj
captures the attention with the beauty of its tight
narrow streets, main streets and small squares above
which the most impressive monument proudly stands

The Brijuni national park islands situated on
the South-Western part of Istria, are frequently

The FAO (Food and Agriculture
Organization) experts have scientifically determined that right below Tar
grow olive trees that produce the best
olive oil in Europe. The secret lies in mild
winters, the olive does not ripe to the
full, and the oil has richer composition.

The Euphrasian Basilica in PoreË is the
nicest preserved monument of the early
Byzantine art on the Mediterranean, and
it was inscribed on the UNESCO World
Heritage List in 1997. Besides the exhibition

The entire old core of PoreË is a cultural
monument, with the preserved street pattern
from the old Roman castrum - Decumanus
and Cardo Maximus. Located on the Marafor
square are the remains of the Roman Forum
with temples of gods, the Romanesque
house and several Gothic palaces. At the
very entrance to the old town proudly stand
two defensive round towers.

The Lim Bay, the drowned canyon valley

Rovinj
The Rovinj archipelagus has 14 islands
and 6 cliffs, and among the most beautiful ones are the island of Katarina and
Red Island. They can be easily reached
by taxi-boats. On the northwestern part
of the Katarina Island stand the famous
high rocks known as the Golden, Silver and
Bronze rock; while the Red Island houses
interesting remains of the Benedictine
church and the maritime museum.

The largest Croatian bay, a region of islands and maritime coastlands,
of green nature and mountains, architecture and culture… It stretches
from the Učka massif and Rijeka to the Dalmatian coast, including
the islands of Cres, Loπinj, Krk and Rab.

It is said that some of the most beautiful Croatian breathtaking beaches and coves with small pebbles are located
on the area of the Kvarner islands, and often these beaches
are accessible only by boat, which makes them especially
mysterious. On the coastal part comfortably neat beaches
prevail, with plateaus and sunbathing spots. The Blue Flag
is the symbol of 28 Kvarner beaches.

The wealth of the Kvarner kitchen is created by a variety of
authentic dishes of the sea belt and those of the continental
part. In the littoral region and the islands, you will be offered
with Mediterranean tastes: renowned Kvarner scampi
(shrimps), tasty lamb fed on the sage fields, “©urlice”…
The kitchen of Gorski Kotar will overwhelm you with meat and
game dishes, frog specialties, mushrooms, snails, freshwater
fish... Highly esteemed among wines is the Vrbnik Žlahtina.
Kvarner is famous for its renowned chestnuts in whose honor
the manifestation “Dani maruna” - “The Chestnut Days” is
held each October in Lovran.

Visiting Kvarner means enjoying the nature, from the littoral to the islands
and mounts. Thanks to its favourable geographic location, Kvarner has
always been the crossroad of many populations and civilizations. The
first inhabitants were the Liburnians that spread their influence and
commercial connections here, and to give an important mark were even
the Greek sailors and the Romans. An important influence was even the
Austro-Ungaric, during whose empire many mansions and villas for the
aristocracy were built and in this period the first beginnings of Kvarner

Nature park Učka situated on the homonymous

Martinščica is a quite new and very nice
area situated on the most accessible part
of the coastline of the entire island, along
the spacious gulf open towards the SouthWest, and well protected from the bora. The
historical site comprises St. Martin’s church
with the Franciscan Monastery dating back
to the 16th century and the family Sforza
castle from the 17th century. By the beaches,
northern from the area, in this untouched
nature and picturesque tourist location there
are numerous possibilities for a pleasant
and active stay and vacation.
Campsite Poljana
The fact it is situated in a dolphins’ reserve describes perfectly the
ecological orientation of this campsite. The pitches are situated in a
terraced terrain leaning gently towards the sea, towards the equipped
beach and the pebble bay, and are mostly situated into the pine-wood
shadow. Part of the beach is reserved for naturists, and a jetty with
120 moorings is integral part of the campsite.

even today there are three small shipyards
in Klimno - continuing the shipbuilding
tradition of the town. Klimno also offers
a well equipped marina.

middle of the small bay are just some of

situated on the southwestern part of
the island of Krk. Koπljun represents a

The enormous natural wealth of Baška
is represented by around thirty pebble
beaches, among which stands out the
biggest and most beautiful, called “Vela
plaža - The Great Beach“ (1800 m).
It is also famous for the renowned Baška
Stone Tablet - one of the most important
monuments of Glagolithic literacy, but
also for other valuable cultural sights.
Campsite Zablaće
The campsite Zablaće is situated in Baška valley, along the western part of
the 1.800 metre long pebble beach known as “Vela plaža” (The big beach),
the longest beach on the Island of Krk. Surrounded by two hills, the campsite
is offering a view of the neighbouring islands and the mainland in the
distance. The part of the campsite that hosts organised pitches is on the
beach itself, whilst the unparcelled camping is about 100 meters from the
sea. The campsite fees include the use of a swimming pool and the fitness
of the Wellness centre Baška, located about 50 meters from the campsite.

Campsite San Marino
Situated on the peninsula of Lopar on the island of Rab, the campsite
San Marino lies along the famous sandy beach called Rajska plaža
(the Heavenly beach) and is surrounded with the shade of oak and
poplar trees. Right next to the camp there is a leisure centre where
the guests can enjoy a wide range of sports and other entertainment.
The camp is especially suitable for families with small children as
well as for fans of recreation and sandy beach lovers.

The town of Lopar is located in the most
northerly part of the island and is surrounded by twenty two sandy beaches.
The town is birthplace of St. Marino,
a stonecutter who, after having sailed
around the Apennine peninsula in the
early 4th century, decided to found the
world's oldest republic - the Republic of
San Marino in Italy. In his honour, the hotel
settlement and the campsite are carrying
the name of San Marino, and Lopar still
maintains special friendly relations with
the Republic of San Marino. Lopar is also
known as the sandy beach paradise, since
it is the only place in the Adriatic that has
so many sandy beaches nearby.

Little town spreading along the island’s
little hills, not far from the city of Rab,
leaning gently towards the sea and four
bays - the Padovas. The peculiarity of Banjol
are actually the Padovas, those hidden
bays crowded with swimmers during the

coming back to their safe harbour … all this,

Throughout this spacious Croatian County we can find traces of
different cultures and populations that dwelt here since the first
century: the Iliri, the Ancient Romans, the Avaric-Slav populations,
the Venetians, the Turks, the French, the Italians…North Dalmatia is
represented by Zadar, Central Dalmatia by Split, and South Dalmatia
by Dubrovnik - cities that through history represented a cultural,
artistic and trade centre of the region. And besides history, even the
nature is very important here, unusually beautiful. The islets are

The enchanting beauty of national parks Paklenica,
Krka (1), Kornati, Northern Velebit and Mljet (2)
springs out from the wealth of nature and the
unique flora and fauna species, sunny landscapes
within which islets, rivers, waterfalls, slops, sea and
mountains succeed one another by turns…
Stony and serried houses, narrow and sinuous
streets with many stairs and vaulted passages
are characterizing Šibenik, city particularly proud
of its unique monument of the European sacral
architecture, the St. Jacob’s cathedral, under

The most impressive pearls of the rich monumental
heritage of Zadar (3) - the Roman forum and St.
Donat’s church - are in total harmony with a unique
contemporaneous attractions like the Sea organ and
the installation “Greeting to the sun”...

them is hiding picturesque towns full of history

The campsite, perfect for family holidays, is situated nearby the town of
Pakoštane, in the pleasant shadow of old pine trees. Besides the equipped

Drage
The Drage locality is situated in the central
area of the Croatian Adriatic sea, between
Zadar and Šibenik. Besides the vicinity of
those cities, Drage’s peace and quiet can
compete with some extremely far islands,
yet with all comfort of a modern way of
life. The coastline is very well indented,
the sea is clean and there’s a marvellous
view to the numerous islets of the Kornati
national park. In this area there are four
National parks - Plitvice, Paklenica, Slapovi

Holiday village Jezera Lovišća
The holiday village lies on the island of Murter, connected to the
mainland by a bridge. The campsite stretches along the pebble coastline,
offering a pleasant shallow entrance to the sea. The pitches are situated
partly on the levelled terrain and partly on terraced ground with
retaining stone walls, in the shadow of old olive and pine trees. The

Jezera is the smallest village on the island
of Murter, situated in the protected harbour
on the south-eastern part of the island. It
is a fishing village and one of the strongest
Central Dalmatian fishing centres. Here it
is possible to enjoy the sea fruits purchased
directly from the fishermen on their return
from the sea. The village was named after
the small lakes which arise in the adjacent
valleys after spring and summer rains, disappearing with the arrival of first summer
days. There is also a modern marina with a
petrol station, which is the starting point for
excursions to the national park of Kornati,
one of the most beautiful Croatian islands.
The village also hosts the international fishermen competition Big Game Fishing at the
end of September.
Camping Resort Solaris
Situated in a pine wood near to the beach and only 4 kilometres distant from the
beautiful town of Šibenik, the campsite offers a variety of contents for a family
vacation. Thanks to its vicinity to the national parks of Krka and Kornati, it
is a perfect starting point for many attractive excursions. Its guests can enjoy
the long built-up beach or the smaller pebbly bays, as well as the wellness offer

The campsite Galeb is situated in the heart of Dalmatia, only 25 km from

restaurants, pizzerias and clubs are located less than 100 metres from the campsite,
providing entertainment to campsite guests. Thanks to its geographical position,
this campsite provides an ideal starting point for discovering the cultural and
historical attractions of the middle Dalmatia, whether the guest's interest is in
visiting historical cities and monuments or in simply enjoying laid back time

Split
The city of Split has a long history - it was
built at the end of the 3rd and beginning
of the 4th century by the Roman emperor
Diocletian as his magnificent palace. From
the 9th century, with the population growth
the place developed into a medieval town.
Starting with this period, within the town
walls and on the town's western side sacral
buildings and palaces of the wealthy citizens were built. Even though the modern
Split has developed into a trading, maritime and commercial regional centre, its
historical nucleus maintained its original
appearance and today the old part of Split
and the Diocletian’s Palace are enlisted in
