POPOVA (Russian Federation) in WMO RA II – Asia Opened in 1934 WMO index No: 0-20000-0-20667 Coordinates: 73.33°N, 70.06°E, 3,7 m Observation ( from WMO Pub 9 Vol A): GOS Global Observing System GSN Global Surface Network CLIMAT(C) RBCN Regional Basic Climatological Networks RBSN(S) Regional Basic Synoptic Networks Reference climatological station Basic climatological station Supplementary climatological station ACCESSIBILITY OF STATION BELYY ISLAND IN THE WINTER IN THE SUMMER STAFF AND DATA Meteorogical station operateв all the year round. The meteorological measurements are carried out in terms of meteorological standard in 3 hours. Data is transmitted using the satellite communication system INMARSAT. All work is done by qualified meteorologists with Roshydromet control. Measurement of the depth of the active layer and the thermal state of permafrost recording are carried out 2 times a year INFRASTRUCTURE OF STATION BELYY ISLAND 1 4 Meteorological station 1 2 Plot 1: snow, permafrost, active layer depth blue labels show the point of measure ice thickness on the lake 2 3 5 3 6 Plot 2: snow, permafrost, active layer depth 4 6 5 Plot 3: snow Plot 4: snow Plot 5: snow All measurements on the meteorological station are conducted in accordance with the standards of the WMO and Roshydromet. At additional sites observations on the spatial distribution of the snow cover in the coastal part (4), on different type of the relief (2,3,5), in the valleys of medium and small rivers (3,6).
