For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from
the law of the Spirit of life ““...in For Christ Jesus hath made me free from the Law of Sin and Death. ” — Rom. 8:1-2 WELCOME FROM JIMMY SWAGGART The world that you’re going out into is never pleasant, it never has been, but you have one anchor: the Lord Jesus Christ. You have one power: the power of the Holy Spirit. You have one message: the Gospel of the kingdom. And you are equipped, not because you’ve come here—we pray that we have contributed a tiny bit toward that which God has touched your heart with—but you are equipped because of what Jesus did at Calvary and what the mighty power of the Holy Spirit is continuing to do within your heart and within your life. Hold your head high and square your shoulders; what you have is bigger than a million devils because Jesus lives within your heart. Go out and win the lost at any cost. Go out and bring in the sheaves, rescue the perishing and care for the dying. Go out and let the world know that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Go out and preach the Word. Preach it without compromising it; preach it without favor; and preach it because the preach is within you. Live it because the Live-er is within you — Jesus Christ. Proclaim it because He is Lord of lords and King of kings forever and forever. The words you just read are the same words I spoke to one of the first graduating classes of this college back in 1987. Since that time, now more than a quarter of a century ago, we’ve seen thousands of men and women from around the globe pass through this unique experience called World Evangelism Bible College and Seminary. Today, many of them serve the Lord in both ministry and in the mainstream workforce. In obedience to the Lord and His leading, we’ve done everything we can to ensure that the students here learn the Bible from men and women of God who know the Word and believe it, and who understand the moving and operation of the Holy Spirit. Seventeen years ago, when the Lord revealed the Message of the Cross to me, we immediately made this message of Jesus Christ and Him crucified the cornerstone of our college curriculum. This word of truth will change your life; that I guarantee. The Psalmist said, “Thy Word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path” (Ps. 119:105). That lamp and that light is Jesus Christ and Him crucified (I Cor. 2:2). That means, also, that there is no other lamp, and no other light! Should you choose to attend WEBC&S, we pledge to do our very best to help that lamp and that light to burn brighter and brighter in your heart and life. In the Master’s service, yours, Jimmy Swaggart founder and chancellor www.webc.edu | WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY 1 WELCOME FROM LOREN LARSON The knowledge of the Word of God should be of paramount concern to every Christian. If a believer desires to enhance his understanding of God and the ways of God, the Bible is the only appropriate source that need be studied. We believe that all the answers to life’s complexities are found within the confines of Scripture. The keys of experiencing the abundant life that Jesus has promised are found within the Bible. It is a mystery to me why any believer would not desire to understand or study this great Book. Here at WEBC&S, we focus primarily on the study of the Scriptures. The classes themselves are either an overview or an in-depth study of some portion of the Word. The classes that are not exegetical studies of the Word use the Bible as their primary source. In the classes themselves, the Spirit of God works in the lives of the students to drive home truth. At times, the moving of the Spirit will completely take over the class and the students will begin to praise, cry, pray, and worship the One they are studying about. It is in this atmosphere that true spiritual growth can best occur. Whether you are interested in being here for a semester or for the entire fouryear program, I know that a great opportunity for spiritual maturity will be extended to you. You may feel called to full-time ministry, or perhaps you just want to spend a year in a strong Bible program before going on to another institution. In either case, WEBC&S will serve you well, teaching you and encouraging you in your personal relationship with the Lord. I believe that men and women of God who know the Word of God are vital toward fulfilling God’s present and future plans for His church. If the Lord is leading you to be a part of WEBC&S, please don’t push that call away. We will do everything possible to help you fulfill the call or function that God has designed just for you. So come renew your mind with the Word of God and discover for yourself what is that good, and perfect, and acceptable will of God for you. The distinct emphasis of Brother Swaggart is the anointing of the Holy Spirit, and it is this ongoing principal upon which the college was founded and continues to operate. From the chapel services with their lively worship of God, to the classrooms, to the residence halls — the entire campus is dedicated to walking in the Spirit of God. Here at WEBC&S, chapel is often referred to as the classroom of the Holy Spirit. Under the ministry of Brother Swaggart, Spirit-filled professors, visiting speakers, and upperclassmen, the Word of God is illuminated by the Holy Spirit to the hearts of the students. It is not uncommon to hear a student say, “I can’t wait to see what the Lord is going to do in chapel this week!” The entire campus community is encouraged to spend time daily in prayer and personal devotions. WEBC&S offers many opportunities for the students and staff to get together every week and seek the face of the Lord both at WEBC&S and Family Worship Center, as well as in the residence halls. WEBC&S students have the opportunity to participate and be blessed in the Easter and Thanksgiving Campmeetings as well as the highly anticipated International Youth Conferences. One thing is for sure, ministry opportunities abound for the WEBC&S student. 4 WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY OUR PURPOSE the preaching of ““For the Cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. ” — I Cor. 1:18 The founding of a Bible college to prepare men and women for an in-depth, Spirit-filled ministry has been Brother Swaggart’s dream for a number of years. He has felt such an institution will play an important role in evangelizing the world as the coming of Christ draws near. As Brother Swaggart says: “We don’t have much time left. We must do everything within our power to reach a lost and dying world with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. All our energies and all of our resources must be utilized in this battle we’re waging for souls. That includes equipping young men and women to carry on until Jesus calls us home.” As a result of this vision, WEBC&S opened in the fall of 1984. The goal of WEBC&S is to build students into the kind of men and women God wants them to be. From its doors the college is sending missionaries, evangelists, pastors, and teachers to all the world. The entire lifestyle of WEBC&S is based on a scriptural foundation. This lifestyle is stressed in each class, and a daily walk with Christ is emphasized in every facet of each individual’s life who is associated with the college. OUR MISSION STATEMENT World Evangelism Bible College and Seminary is a Pentecostal training center for equipping Spirit-anointed students to fulfill their God-ordained roles in world evangelism, and church ministry. www.webc.edu | WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY 5 DISTINCTIVES OF WEBC&S The College and Seminary have the privilege of being associated with the worldwide outreach of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries via its various media outreaches. This brings each student into direct contact with men and women of God who are called to preach the Message of the Cross to a lost and dying world. All students are aware and expectant that they are a part of a mighty last day move of God’s Spirit. Philosophy of Education WEBC&S is committed to the Bible as the inerrant Word of God and projects this revealed truth as the integrating factor in all of its educational processes. WEBC&S is Protestant, evangelical, and Pentecostal, and it believes that the church has been given a renewed emphasis on the person and work of the Holy Spirit. Through the anointing or enabling of the Holy Spirit, true knowledge can be acquired and significant work can be accomplished in the kingdom of God. Its world view is that in the Bible, God has given a revelation of Himself as the Creator and Sustainer of the universe and given a revelation of His Son, Jesus Christ, as our Saviour and Lord. This world view requires the highest achievable academic standard, a genuinely Christian code of conduct, and a commitment to worldwide evangelism. The primary thrust of the academic program is to provide students with both a thorough grounding in the Bible and opportunities for immediate practical ministry experience. Objectives The general objectives of the College arise out of its mission statement and are intellectual, personal, and spiritual in nature. These objectives are the expected results which the College desires for each of its students. The college anticipates that students who successfully complete their chosen undergraduate programs should: 1. Be committed to the conviction that the Bible is the inspired Word of God, the inspiration of which is plenary and verbal so that the entire Bible is infallible and inerrant. 2. Possess a thorough biblical training which includes an understanding of the chief content of the books of the Bible and which comprises a thorough grasp of the fundamental doctrines of the Bible. 3. Utilize unique personal gifts for ministry which have been developed by practical, consistent, hands-on training. 4. Develop a commitment to worldwide evangelism. 5. Demonstrate growth in personal character in spirituality, responsibility, stewardship, and cooperativeness in personal relationships. 6. Adopt patterns of good health as a lifestyle. 7. Gain competence in a chosen field of Christian service, or give evidence of adequate preparation for related graduate-studies programs. 6 WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY THE DOCTRINAL STATEMENT We Believe: The Bible is the inspired and only infallible, authoritative written Word of God. There is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. In the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in His virgin birth, in His sinless life, in His miracles, in His vicarious and atoning death, in His bodily resurrection, in His ascension to the right hand of the Father, in His personal future return to this earth in power and glory to rule a thousand years. The only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentance and faith in the precious blood of Christ. Regeneration by the Holy Spirit is absolutely essential for personal salvation. The redemptive work of Christ on the Cross provides healing of the human body in answer to believing prayer. The baptism with the Holy Spirit, according to Acts 2:4, is given to believers who ask for it. In the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a holy life. In the Blessed Hope — the Rapture of the church at Christ’s coming. In the resurrection of both the saved and the lost, the one to everlasting life and the other to everlasting damnation. www.webc.edu | WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY 7 ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS A Christian Experience A definite born-again experience is essential for admission to WEBC&S. Preference is given to student applicants who have established a history of active participation in their local churches. The applicant’s commitment must include a life of personal holiness, refraining from any sinful practices. Students who have not received the baptism with the Holy Spirit will be encouraged to seek and receive the experience. It is expected that all applicants should be sympathetic toward the doctrinal statement contained in this catalog. Academic Requirements Graduation from an accredited/approved high school is the basic educational requirement for admission. A transcript of high school work is required. Nonhigh school graduates who have satisfactory GED scores will be considered. Special Students Applicants who are 25 years of age or older and have not graduated from a secondary school or who do not hold a high school equivalency diploma may be considered for admission as “special students.” An applicant may be admitted as a special student provided he gives evidence of ability to pursue the courses elected. Housing can be provided on campus for two nights for single visitors on a space available basis. Prior arrangements for housing must be made with the Office of Admissions. STUDENT LIFE Students enter WEBC&S to be trained by Spirit-filled men and women for the glory of God. As a student, you will make the commitment to be a part of this vision. The following seven covenant principles, are based on the Scriptures. The biblical foundation for each of these covenant principles is set forth on the following pages. Each student is strongly urged to prayerfully consider each of these foundations for an effective ministry and testimony to the world. It is our fervent prayer that each student will grow spiritually as well as academically. We stand ready to pray and work with each student in these areas. Please feel free to reach out if a need exists. LIFESTYLE COVENANT I. We/I covenant to seek the Lord’s guidance through daily personal prayer and Bible study and by faithfully attending daily chapels and weekly church services. II. We/I covenant to be faithful and punctual in attending class sessions and other academic gatherings, constantly seeking to be diligent in developing the full potential of our/my mind. III. We/I covenant to practice good health and physical fitness by getting appropriate rest and exercise and by observing a balanced diet. IV. We/I covenant to embrace and hold to a life of personal holiness, refraining from sinful prac- tices and observing the College standard of dress and appearance. V. We/I covenant to be mindful and diligent in properly handling all business and financial responsibilities. VI. We/I covenant to be continually involved in ministry, always looking for and using every opportunity to minister, teach, proclaim, and bless others for Christ. VII. We/I covenant to walk in humility toward others and live in submission to those in authority, obeying all College rules and regulations, and always manifesting a cooperative and teachable attitude. www.webc.edu | WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY 9 TIMES OF PRAYER Prayer plays a vital roll in the daily life of WEBC&S. Prayer times are made available to all of our students, and they are encouraged to attend these prayer meetings as much as possible. Multiple weekly prayer meetings are held at the College as well as the prayer meetings held at FWC. Also, very special to the students, are the times of “Hall Prayer,” which is a time designated to resident students to get together on their respective floors and share in devotions and prayer. CHAPEL ATTENDANCE Classroom of the Holy Spirit All full-time students, regardless of whether or not they reside on campus, are required to attend Wednesday and Friday, for vibrant Pentecostal chapel services under the leadership of the president of the College. Professors and guest speakers will preach and teach the Word, each bringing their own unique experience and testimony of God’s grace, coupled with the anointing of the Holy Spirit to make for powerful times of learning and growth for the students. It is not uncommon for the Holy Spirit to move so strongly that the service is literally turned over to times of worship and altar time before the Lord. Mondays are scheduled for student ministry practicum in which the students gather and report on their weekly church attendance as well as give account for their weekly practicum (hands-on ministry). Students will choose from a variety of options such as nursing home, children’s ministry, crossfire, etc. CHURCH ATTENDANCE STUDENT MINISTRY Family Worship Center, the 7,000-seat sanctuary on the grounds of Jimmy Swaggart Ministries, is the home church for all WEBC&S students. All full-time students are required to faithfully attend both Sunday services and the Wednesday evening service. Students are encouraged to attend all other special services and conferences. Students who were Baton Rouge area residents attending a church of like faith before entering WEBC&S may leave their membership with and continue attending that church upon written approval from the dean of students. The Student Ministry Program is considered to be one of the most important distinctives. We believe that our students should be involved in ministry throughout their tenure at WEBC&S. In light of the Great Commission and the urgency of the times, we must prepare our students to begin their ministry now. Student ministry is optional for students in their first four years, but it is mandatory for all students enrolled in Seminary. Those students involved in ministry must attend weekly evaluation and planning sessions. While attending WEBC&S, students are encouraged to get involved in many of the activities and outreaches of FWC. Students will have the opportunity and privilege of learning and growing under the anointed ministry of Brother Swaggart and other outstanding pastors, evangelists, and missionaries. 10 WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY STUDENT HOUSING We have, we think, some of the finest facilities in the world. We have excellent dormitory housing which is available to students age 25 and under who are enrolled with a minimum of four courses per semester. Each dorm room is 300 square feet with a semiprivate bath furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, chair, etc. and with a panoramic view of the Ministry grounds. There are kitchen facilities located on each floor and laundry facilities in the building with 24-hour security. Due to College growth and limited space in our housing facilities, all students accepted after the Fall 2013 semester will automatically be assigned a roommate. No private rooms are available. FINANCIAL INFORMATION WEBC&S endeavors to provide you with the finest Christian education possible within its means and resources. Student fees cover only a portion of the actual cost of operating the College and Seminary. The balance is subsidized by Jimmy Swaggart Ministries. Each student is expected to be diligent in properly handling all financial responsibilities and should demonstrate financial integrity by paying school bills and all other bills on time. We trust that a confirmation of God’s timing for your study at WEBC&S will be your ability to meet the financial requirements. See the insert entitled FINANCIAL INFORMATION for additional details. ACADEMIC INFORMATION & PROGRAMS There are four areas of vital importance at WEBC&S: spiritual development, academic achievement, practical ministry, and good health. These all receive emphasis in the curriculum plan. WEBC&S chapel is a focal point in daily campus activities, giving rise to a description of the chapel period as “the classroom of the Holy Spirit.” The Maynard Ketcham Health Fitness Building was opened in the fall of 1987 and offers students a wellrounded program of athletic activities. Student ministry practicums round out the academic program with a wide variety of hands-on, practical ministry experiences. All of these elements of training are considered to be integral parts of proper preparation of young people for their God-given call to service. THE WEBC&S LIBRARY Just as chapel is the center of the spiritual life of the campus, so the library is the hub of the academic. Book Check-Out Most books in the library are checked out for two weeks and may be renewed unless a hold has been placed on the book. Some books are placed on a limited check-out or reserve and are marked accordingly. Books are not checked out to students who have unpaid book fines. A student may have a maximum of 10 books checked out at any one time. Fines A fine is levied for each book or other library material which is overdue. A lost-book fee is assessed for books and material 30 days overdue. www.webc.edu | WORLD EVANGELISM BIBLE COLLEGE AND SEMINARY 11 CLASSIFICATION OF STUDENTS Full-Time: A student enrolled for 12 or more semester hours.
