Tip Selection
One of the most important aspects for successful Solder Joint Removal is the selection of the proper size Tip. There are several
points to keep in mind.
1. The Inside Diameter (10) of the Tip must be large enough to fit over the lead while providing sufficient room so that air and solder can
be drawn through the Tip.
2. The Outside Diameter (00) of the Tip must be smaller than the diameter of the pad to permit direct Tip contact with copper surface
while preventing direct Tip contact to baseboard. This will eliminate possibilities of scorching and will prevent high vacuum pick-off
forces.

Tip Selection
One of the most important aspects for successful Solder Joint Removal is the selection of the proper size Tip. There are several
points to keep in mind.
1. The Inside Diameter (10) of the Tip must be large enough to fit over the lead while providing sufficient room so that air and solder can
be drawn throUgh the Tip.
2. The Outside Diameter (00) of the Tip must be smaller than the diameter of the pad to permit direct Tip contact with copper surface
while preventing direct Tip contact to baseboard,. This will eliminate possibilities of scorching and will prevent high vacuum pick-off
forces.

This Entry Level program provides trainees with a basic understanding of the soldering, assembly and rework tech
niques that will allow them to either move directly from the classroom into the field of electronic assembly, or will pre

This intensive training program develops the skills and teaches the techniques essential in today's electronics
world. This advanced program covers techniques needed for a broad range of non-destructive electronic repair,
once the diagnostic procedures have been completed.
Universal Repair for Electronics combines the most significant Military and NASA specifications with the best and
most functional commercial requirements and practices. It is recommended for those personnel who manage or
service electronic equipment.

Multl·Layer and Flexible Circuit Repair
This course covers the latest repair techniques for these state-of-the-art electronic assemblies. Procedures for exca
vations, interfacial connections and internal conductor repairs are taught, as well as the latest repair techniques for
broken conductors and land areas. The skills presented in this course can bring down the replacement costs of
these new and expensive components.

This course begins with an introduction to surface mount technology, reviewing both components and substrates.
Both SMD installation techniques and "Hands-On" non-destructive SMD removal methods are practiced.

Repair Skills Development Kit
This kit teaches the student to repair broken and missing conductors using
round, flattened round and tin-lead plated copper wire and foil. The use of
funnel and flat head eyelets, lifted and missing land and conductor repairs are
also taught. The student uses this same printed wiring board to learn repair
techniques for lifted and missing edge fingers. These same edge fingers can be
used to teach electroplating techniques.
