The Tocobaga were the American Indians living along Florida’s Central Gulf Coast
when the first Europeans began to arrive in 1492. At the time of discovery, they had
lived for thousands of years on one of the most productive estuaries on Earth. Today
their culture is extinct. However, evidence seems to indicated, they had developed a
sustainable economy within this environment. Can we do it again?
