Debit Card with EMV Chips
NEFCU continues to utilize the latest
technology to safeguard your account
information. In late 2014, we launched
our new VISA Advantage and Signature
Elite Credit Cards with an EMV chip for
added security at retailers who process
EMV payments. The chip in the card is
encrypted and provides stronger security
and protection against fraud. In October,
we will be expanding our use of this
technology by incorporating EMV chips
into our debit card as well. Members
will receive the new chip-enabled
cards when their current card is up
for renewal, or they open a new account.

Using an EMV Chip-Card is Easy
If a retailer has a chip-enabled terminal,
you can make purchases by inserting
your VISA chip card face-up in the
terminal and providing your signature
or PIN to complete the purchase.
Thousands of retailers here and abroad
process EMV payments, and this
technology will soon be the US
standard. If the retailer does not process
EMV payments, you can still use your
card by swiping your magnetic stripe
as you do today.
You Can Protect Your Card From Fraud
An easy way to protect your card from fraud is by frequently changing your PIN. Be sure not
to use your birthdate or a number that can be easily associated with you such as the last
4 digits of your social security number. To change your debit card PIN, visit any NEFCU ATM
Machine or Branch, or call 866-985-2273. To change your credit card PIN, call 888-886-0083.
