made entirely by hand without an assembly line. Many of the clocks in this catalog are literally one-of-a-kind, each crafted by an artisan

This model is the largest carved
cuckoo clock we have in stock but a
larger one can be made to order.
Typically it takes the carver
approximately four months to finish
this masterpiece. Details abound with
tiny acorns, squirrels in the trees, and
an intricately carved pendulum
making this one a piece of
timekeeping art.
The music box from Reuge in
Switzerland also makes this piece an
impressive mechanical-musical
instrument. It plays three different
tunes and its 72-note music box
movement allows longer tunes with
more melismatic melodies and a
richer accompaniment. The same
clock is available in a smaller size
with a 52-note music box movement.

This clock is an example of the finest carving available. Its
powerful scene is a testament to the beauty of nature. It
depicts a large and powerful eagle coming in to land high
in the forest while a hawk and an owl perch on oak
branches. Below, two baby birds begin to chirp from their
nest.
The detail in this carving is truly incredible. Each feather
on the wings of the eagle is painstakingly crafted. The
depth of the leaves give them a lifelike appearance, as do
the owl and hawk. The large case also holds a large, 36note music box and long, deep-sounding bellows giving
the cuckoo a stately call.

A faithful reproduction from the workshop
of Ingolf Haas; this piece is as
interesting as it is beautiful. The
intricately cut filigree case is cut so that
the black from underneath makes a
striking pattern.
Ingolf Haas is an award-winning designer of
Black Forest Clocks. He first received
international fame in the 1980's by reintroducing
the "Dumpling Eater" to the modern timepiece
industry. Since then, he is renowned for inspiring
creations which recall the mysticism and
romance of yesteryear. Mr. Haas is a repeat
winner of the prestigious "Black Forest Clock of
the Year Award" and his concepts continue to
have a lasting influence on the cuckoo clock and
Black Forest clock industry.

Whimsical and sometimes realistic animations
such as this one were commonly reproduced
mechanically in the Black Forest since the early
Nineteenth Century. Here, a man in traditional
Black Forest garb chops his firewood for the
long winter. Meanwhile the merrymakers are
above, on the balcony, dancing to the music.

Here, a woman beats her soused husband over the head with a
rolling pin. One strike for each hour. The drinking man moves his
beer stein, seemingly unaware of the clobbering he is receiving.

A woman beats her stitching husband over the head with a rolling pin.
One strike for each hour. The tailor moves his sewing arm.
The scene recalls the Grimm Brothers' story about the tailor who, with one
blow, killed seven flies that were gathering around his fresh jam. He was
so proud he made a belt and stitched on the lettering "Seven With One
Blow." As he strutted about town with this belt, rumor began to circulate
that he had killed seven MEN with one blow.
When the King heard of this he called upon the tailor to solve some
problems for him (giants, a dragon, etc.) and in return the tailor's reward
(of course) was to be the Princess's hand in marriage.
The tailor had several adventures after that, and even managed to outwit
every creature that came across his path - using brain instead of brawn to
achieve his goal. When he returned to the King he settled down with his
new wife, the Princess, and started up his tailor business again.
Imagine the Princess's displeasure when she found that she hadn't
married a dashing and courageous prince at all. She was stuck with this
lowly tailor!

This huge clock is packed with all kinds of impressive
details. Even the tiny dancers are carved with
incredible detail. There is so much to see here, one
could spend hours admiring the
artwork. The waterwheel turns and the
horse moves his head to feed.
This is a beautiful and lovingly crafted piece, with great
carvings of trees, leaves, as well as a Clock-Peddler
and his faithful dog.
Clock Peddlers in the Black Forest used to carry their
wares on a large backpack. As this figure goes around
with the music, one might imagine a Clock Peddler
wandering over the hills and through storybook forests
hundreds of years ago.

This clock is an example of the finest carving available. The clock
hangs on an intricately carved backboard full of trees and brambles.
The clock itself has a Bahnhäusle design with a metal cage housing a
life-sized, hand-carved and hand-painted bird.
The bird flaps its wings and moves its beak to the cuckoo call. The
clock-on-backboard design allows for incredible depth and dimension
in the carving. The three-dimensional pine trees come to a delicate
point above, and there is even real moss at the base of the trees!
The bird is finely painted to show even more depth and lifelike realism.

Every cuckoo clock has a
story, make one your own.
This charming scene is taken from the famous Aesop
Fable about the Crow and the Fox. It is entirely hand
carved from solid Linden wood. When the clock strikes
the hour or half-hour the door opens, a cuckoo appears
and calls along with the clock's gong strike.
A Fox once saw a Crow fly off with a grape in its beak
and settle on a branch of a tree. "That's for me, as I am
a Fox," said Master Reynard, and he walked up to the
foot of the tree. "Good-day, Mistress Crow," he cried.
"How well you are looking to-day: how glossy your
feathers; how bright your eye. I feel sure your voice
must surpass that of other birds, just as your figure
does; let me hear but one song from you that I may
greet you as the Queen of Birds."
The Crow lifted up her head and began to caw her
best, but the moment she opened her mouth the grape
fell to the ground, only to be snapped up by Master
Fox. "That will do," said he. "That was all I wanted. In
exchange for your grape I will give you a piece of
advice for the future:
"Do not trust flatterers."

of Black Forest clocks of the

Eisenlohr of Furtwangen,
Germany first submitted the
design as part of a contest for
the Grand Duchy of Baden.
His inspiration was a railroad

This charming chalet is very impressive. The doors and
windows on the barn are laser cut and have incredible
detail. There is even an inlaid cuckoo bird on the door that
the cuckoo comes out of.
The carved squirrel actually jumps up when he is startled
by the cuckoo call.

Romba’s new Art Clocks have taken the
design world by storm. Similar clocks, built
by Romba craftsmen, are featured in New
York City’s Modern Museum of Art (MoMA)
gift shop.
A few select Black Forest artists have redesigned the cuckoo clock using stylistic
cues from the classics. These clocks are reimagined according to modern tastes for
clean lines and bold colors.
In addition to the beautiful filligree
designs and clean lines, the design

include a special series of ArtClocks of which only one of each is
