recruits our pack will fade. Spring Recruitment has
proven to be the best time to recruit new tigers from
our kindergarten families. So if you know any
potential new cub scouts, please encourage them to
attend!

Dyer at (714) 280-8460 if you would like to

Mark your calendars for May 14, 2011. This is the
scout event of the year! It will be held at Oak Canyon
Park, 5305 Santiago Canyon Drive, Silverado, CA
92676.
If you have never been to this fun event you should
plan to attend. Here are just a few of the things you
can do...beltloops, balloon sling shots, canoe rides, rain
gutter boats, crafts, and so many other activites. In the
past there have been visits by the Fire Department
displaying their engines and skateboard stunt shows.
This year our Pack will be setting up a Marbles
Beltloop Booth. Mark VandenEykel is the chair of this
event but all dens are expected to participate in
working this very popular booth.
The T-Shirts we plan to use this year are the same
navy color ones we had last year! They were such a
great design we decided to keep with it. I have a few
new orders so this is the last chance to let me know if
you are intersted in ordering any T Shirts. Again
sizes are as follows:
Ladies (tighter fit with cap sleeve): Medium, Large,
X-Large, 2XL
Adult: Small, Medium. Large, X-Large, 2XL
Youth: Small, Medium, Large
Remember these are great Class B uniforms and a
way to show pride at Scout-O-Rama, picnics,
campouts, etc. Please email me at
[email protected] or call direct at 714-2801055. Thanks again!
Coming up June 26th in Yorba Linda. More

Activities are a big part of these events. Each
family in attendance will be given tasks to make
this weekend a success. If you have a

Prado Regional Park will allow us the opportunity
to fish with our cubs. The Orange County Council
requires that Akela's are trained in water safety
training. Please plan ahead and take "Safe Swim
Defense" and "Safety Afloat" at myscouting.org.
Please print the certificates and attach to your
registration. If you have questions about this
training contact Barbara Redick at 714 281 5079

covered by BSA Insurance and participate in
fishing, Akela's must be trained. On the day of the
event you will not be allowed to fish without the
proper training certificates.
Be sure to sign up at the April Pack Meeting for
camping and sign up for a camping volunteer
opportunity.
Good evening Pack 546!
Cub Scout Day Camp will be here before we know
it! Today, Tuesday, April 26, is the last day to turn in forms
to our Pack! It is the week of July 11-15 at the Outdoor
Education Center in Irvine Regional Park. I attended the
last two years and had so much fun watching the kids play
various sports, cook, build tool boxes, shoot bb guns,
archery, learn first aid, and many more exciting
things! According to Aamber Walker, from Council, “we are
going to be changing things up a bit from last year-new
program areas that we have not had access to in past
year.”
I hope your Cub Scout(s) will join us this year in another
fun-filled week! Not only are they having fun, but at the
same time, they are getting credit for some achievements,
earning belt loops, and completing some electives.
To help make Cub Scout Day Camp a success, we need
some adult volunteers! Per the guidelines of camp, we
need one adult for every four campers (Scouts). Now
you are probably thinking that you would love to volunteer,
but have another child at home. Well, Day Camp offers a
Tot Lot for ages 3 (must be potty trained) to 10. If you
have an older child, they have the opportunity to have
some fun also by volunteering as a Den Chief or assist in
different programs.
The prices are as follows:
Campers (Cub Scouts)
(Register by May 14, Scout-O-Rama)
Pack 546 is a Founders Unit!
Siblings

$130
$ 10 discount
$ 5 discount
$ 5 a day ($20
So bring your registration to the Pinewood Derby and make

discount!! The forms are located at the Orange County
Boys Scouts of America website at
http://daycamps.ocbsa.org/forms_2011_001.html. This
Day Camp fills up fast and you don’t want to miss out as
others did last year! If you have any questions, please call
me at (714) 290-4618.
See you tonight!

My Den Activity by Matthew Bachor
On February 21st, 2011, my den and I practiced a skit
for Blue and Gold. We did “I’m a little tea pot”. I was
an opera singer. We practiced 5 times. At the end,
everybody said “I’m a little tea pot, tea pot…”
Everybody had a good time.
Den Meeting by John Tran
On Sunday, February 13th, 2011, the Fiery Phoenix
had a den meeting at the Pitzer’s house. Ryan
started the meeting by leading the flag ceremony.
Our den leader, Mrs. Pitzer, went over the
objectives for the meeting which was fulfilling the
craftsman badge and practicing for the Blue and
Gold banquet skit. Mr. Thompson went over the
safety rules in handling tools. Then we started
making the key holder and the wood walker using
the hand saw, coping saw and an awl. Mrs. Pitzer
suggested that we donate the walker to Pack 546
to use during campouts as a gift from our webelos
den. We had a lot of fun making the wooden
projects, experimenting with the walker where
Dougie fell face down (luckily he was caught by
Mrs. Pitzer), and practicing the skit “I’m a little
teapot”. Lots of thank to Mr. and Mrs. Pitzer and
Mr. and Mrs. Thompson for such a wonderful
meeting.
If your Den has completed a cool project or craft we
would love you to share it with the rest of the Pack.
You can bring it to the Pack Meeting and there will
be a table where it can be set up and displayed. It’s
great to see what the different dens are doing.
Also, anytime your Den has gone on an interesting
outing or been involved in a service project or just
has some ideas to share, please send an e-mail to
Barbara Redick at [email protected] and I will
be sure to include it in the newsletter!
