ArchiForma
The First ArchiCAD Plug-In for Creating Objects
ArchiForma is an extension that uses API (Application Programming Interface)
technology to add new functions to ArchiCAD.
This Plug-in was designed and developed to allow ArchiCAD users to create a
limitless array of shapes without having to program in GDL.
Designers often need to create complex shapes that can represent architectural
details in 3D, along with furnishings or other volumes and surfaces that are not
easy to achieve with the basic graphic elements contained in ArchiCAD’s
toolbox. With ArchiForma, ArchiCAD users are given a new series of basic
graphic elements, commands and functions specifically devised for solving this
problem. Users can therefore choose to process the project in an even more
personalised and detailed way.
You can save objects created with ArchiForma as library elements and reuse

Creation of Windows, Doors and Glass Structures
ArchiGlazing 1.0, a new Add-On for ArchiCAD enables architects to design and
include in their plans broad range of window styles.The parametric quality of
the window objects supplied with the standard ArchiCAD library also allows
the definition of individual types of glass structures. ArchiGlazing was
developed to fulfill special needs, such as to create glass structures of very
sophisticated geometry. ArchiGlazing 1.0 is available for both the MacOS and

ArchiRuler
The First ArchiCAD Plug-In for 2D Drawing
ArchiRuler is a new extension for 2D drawing which, by using API technology,
adds new functions to ArchiCAD.
This plug-in lets you enrich drawings with greater ease, incorporating twodimensional graphic information which will help you, for example, to produce
design details and working drawings for use on the construction site.
The tool palette includes tools and functions that provide unbeatable
productivity incredibly quickly, to boost the user’s communication within the
project.
ArchiRuler manages:
- two types of primitives: arcs/circles and lines, and all variations of these
(polyarc, polyline, multi-arc, multi-polyarc, multi-line and multi-polyline);
- a new series of snap-tos at significant points;
- the procedure for managing polylines, enabling other CAD drawings to be
acquired more simply, reducing processing times;
- the “Inspector” instrument, which lets you view all the geometrical and

RoofMaker 2.1
Quick and Easy Professional Roof Constructions
RoofMaker is an efficient tool for designing and modeling roof constructions in
ArchiCAD. The main feature of RoofMaker is that it automates the process of
designing a fully detailed roof.
A RoofMaker roof is made up of a number of separate elements such as rafters,
purlins, and trimmers. If you require, you can change the shape, size, and
position of each element. These individual elements are GDL Objects, which
can be conveniently edited like any other ArchiCAD library parametric object.
The RoofMaker elements you select
for your roof are placed
automatically in the ArchiCAD roof
solid according to the settings you
choose.
With RoofMaker, roof constructions

ArchiFaçade
Straightening Photographic Images
ArchiFaçade is a simple yet powerful program that lets you transform a
perspective distorted image an image of the building with a measurable façade.
It is based on the principles of projective geometry: through the appropriate
mathematical transformations, the points that make up animage deformed by
perspective, are edited until the image appears straight.
To use ArchiFaçade, all you need are the real co-ordinates – those measured on
the actual site – of just four points of the façade. The program automatically
applies the same transformation to all points of the photograph.
The resulting image is of a façade-measured point by point.
In addition, ArchiFaçade allows you to convert a photograph of a building or
any other image into an ArchiCAD library element; this means that you can
then insert it in a three-dimensional view to create a silhouette effect within the
ArchiCAD photo rendering.
Use ArchiFaçade to:
- straighten angled photographs;
- obtain a graphical representation of a façade’s relief;
- create silhouettes to simulate architecture, or recreate an existing
architectural scene.

The Furniture of Alvar Aalto
Furniture Design Series
Hugo Alvar Henrik Aalto (1898-1976) was one of the first
major architects of the modern movement to emerge from
Scandinavia, and he remains one of the most individual
and poetic masters of functionalism in the architecture of
our time. Since 1930 he has become widely known
outside his native Finland for, in particular, his imaginative
use of his country’s traditional building material, and for
his post-war planning and reconstruction. It has been said
that
Alvar Aalto’s furniture designs evolved in connection with his architectural
projects, deriving from his desire for a comprehensive design, conceived as a
total concept from the townscape to the doorknob.
Alvar Aalto’s furniture designs are now available as ArchiCAD library parts.
Chairs, tables, armchairs, trolleys and sofas are also part of a detailed

The Furniture of Gerrit Rietveld
Furniture Design Series
Gerrit Thomas Rietveld was a significant European architect
and furniture designer of the early twentieth century. As a
member of the “New Design” school and a representative of
“Cubism” and “New Functionalism,” he reduced his art to
the basics with the use of primary colors, straight lines and
angles. Rietveld designed simple furniture out of cheap,
standardized materials which made them fit easily into futuristic architectural
environments. They were starkly new in terms of construction in techniques.
Rietveld’s main goal was to combine basic shapes and forms with specific
functions and choice of materials, so that the finished product represented
complete harmony.
The well-known furniture designs of Gerrit Thomas Rietveld are now available
as parametric library objects, including chairs, tables and lamps. These objects
are provided to raise the quality of illustrated environments.

Thomas M. Simmons spent seven years as an architect and served as the
director of design technology for Esherick, Homsey, Dodge and Davis
Architects, an award-winning and internationally acclaimed architecture firm,
before starting his company. While at EHDD Architects, he was instrumental in
integrating and managing ArchiCAD on projects ranging from single-family
houses, commercial buildings, libraries and aquariums.
Simmons received a Master of Architecture degree from the University of
California, Berkeley, and a Bachelor of Environmental Design degree from
Texas A & M University. He has been a speaker on a variety of subjects
including Beginning to Advanced ArchiCAD, Architectural Multimedia,
QuickTime VR and Architectural Visualization. He spoke at the A/E/C Systems

Technology.
