Shell Laminate Inlays
Engraving Tips
The Shell Laminates will add value to gift and award products. These
laminates are easily laser cut for a lasting product of high quality. Available in
a Paua Pearl, White Pearl and Metallic Pearl, the Shell Laminates measure
5.5" x 9.5" in size with a thickness of .010".
•Start in CorelDRAW by making 2 copies
of the design you are using for the inlay.
Create a hairline outline of the design
for vector cutting the design on the Shell
Laminate, and a filled in copy to use to
raster engrave the well for the laminate
in the base material.
•Using the filled in copy, engrave
a well for your laminate to be
set into. The Shell Laminates
are a thickness of .010”
•Settings for raster engraving
for 40-Watt laser is 45% speed
and 100% power.
•Next, adhere Heavy Duty
Mounting Tape to your Shell
Laminate and using the hairline
outline, vector cut the Shell
Laminate.
•Settings for vector cutting for
40-Watt laser is 30% speed
and 50% power.
•Remove the white backing of
the adhesive and place the
cut laminate into the well. The
removed white paper can be
used to burnish the laminate
into place.
•Clean any residue with a clean
damp cloth.
