Those pieces will have their first Hungarian performance in the orchestral arrangement made by Daniel Pacitti. The message is significant: music, the universal language, the means of spiritual elevation, unites the nations and different groups of people in solidarity, friendship and peace at Christmas. The Influence of Latin American Folklore on Classical Music Contemporary Latin American music is undoubtedly influenced by folk music. The influence can be particularly detected in the peculiar dances (Cuban habanera, Brazil samba, Argentine tango). The vast majority of Latin American composers used those motifs in their compositions, paying tribute to their native land. They enriched their works with new elements of harmony, counterpoint and arrangement in the style of Western European classical music. Ariel Ramirez: Creole Mass Ariel Ramirez The Creole Mass by Ariel Ramirez is undoubtedly the most famous and most often performed composition in the world, which is inspired by religious-folk sources. Since its first performance (Düsseldorf, 1964) the popularity and success of the piece has been continuously growing. During the papacy of Paul VI it was declared a musical piece of universal religious interest. The composition, which was originally written for the piano, harpsichord, charango, percussions, together with folk instruments used in the Andes, mixed choir and tenor solo by the two composers – was also composed in the honour of two German nuns, Elisabeth and Regina, who fought against the Nazi regime. Ramirez met them during his stay in Würzburg, Germany in 1950. The Creole Mass was performed and recorded by the greatest opera tenors and folk singers namely José Carreras, Placido Domingo, the Los Fronterizos, Mercedes Sosa, Chabuca Granda and others. The arrangement for symphony orchestra was made by Daniel Pacitti, and it was first published by Warner&Chapell Music. This will be the first Hungarian performance of the Creole Mass in D. Pacitti’s arrangement. Daniel Pacitti Balázs Kocsár He is one of the most outstanding figures of the young composer generation.
