ANNUAL PICTURE WEEKEND
April 29th – May 1st, 2016 at On Pointe
Dear Parents,
OPSD is teaming with SeeSaw Studios (Dennis Slagle) to capture the 2016 competition and recital experience. The
student is to arrive at the studio 15 minutes prior to their photo session. Prior to arriving at the studio please
have student’s hair in a low bun unless instructed otherwise by their instructor.
Note about makeup: Stage make up is unnecessary but light makeup is recommended because of the
photographer’s lighting. We do not want your dancer’s face to look washed out in the photos.
DO NOT wear your costumes to the studio. There will be rooms designated for each group to change into their
costumes. The OPSD staff will have one parent volunteer in each room in charge of answering all costume
questions for their group. There will also be an OPSD runner that will be pulling students from the dressing rooms
to the photo room. This person is also available to answer any questions. Please do not pull instructors from the
photo room. Please stay in your designated room until your group has been called for their photo session.
All Minis, Beginning Ballet/Tap & Ballet 2/Jazz 2, please start with your Ballet costume first.
At the beginning of each session there will be a group shot and then their individual shot will follow. If a student is
not ready on time and misses the group shot, another group shot will not be taken. The poses will be determined
by the instructor of the class. Each individual shot will have 2 poses.
All viewing and ordering will be done online. You have the choice to purchase prints, download the entire gallery
purchase or order merchandise (Mugs, Buttons, Mouse Pads, etc.) No need to wait for your USB to come in the
mail, as soon as you purchase your student’s gallery it is available to download instantly. All prints and
merchandise orders will be shipped to your home. (Online Gallery for Viewing & Ordering instructions are
attached, along with a sample price list.)

THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF EACH RECITAL…
OUR BACKSTAGE PARENT VOLUNTEERS!
Over the years, our Backstage Parent Volunteers are why OPSD Recitals are so successful!
During each recital, they coordinate with their dancer’s class to plan fun backstage activities,
organize snacks, etc.!
At least 3 Backstage Parent Volunteers per class are needed especially for all Mini classes,
Ballet 1/Tap 1, Jazz and Lyrical 1 & 2, Hip Hop 1 & 2 classes. We will need a Parent Volunteer
to sit with our MALE Dancers in the back of the auditorium as well! (Yes, you will be able to see
your child dance!)
There will be a sign up sheet posted on the parent board on May 2nd for any & all
interested mothers, grandmothers, etc. to assist with their dancer’s class backstage. Only
backstage parent volunteers will be allowed to stay backstage with their dancer.

In-Studio Rehearsal
Friday, June 10th @ On Pointe School of Dance
This is a mandatory spacing rehearsal held at OPSD. Students are to wear regular dance attire and hair
pulled back. Makeup is not needed for the in-studio rehearsal. Dance costumes are not required for the
in-studio rehearsal. The rehearsal may take up to an hour to complete.
Rehearsal Times:
5:00 PM - All Minis, Beginning Ballet/Tap, Ballet/Tap 1, and Hip Hop 1
6:30 PM - All Other Classes

Dress Rehearsal
Friday, June 17th, 2016 @ Oxford High School
Students arrive at 4:30 PM
Participation in Dress Rehearsal is MANDATORY for all students.
The Dress Rehearsal allows the students to become familiar with the auditorium surroundings and feel
comfortable with their performance, costume, and just being on stage. Lighting, music cues, set
changes and other logistics for a professional show are rehearsed at that time, so please be patient.
Please bring dancer’s costumes in a garment bag because accidents do happen. Have dancer’s hair and
makeup done prior to arriving at the high school.
Please enter in the main auditorium entrance and follow the signs that point to Dancer Check-In. Sign
your child in at the Check-In table. You will then take your child to their dressing room. Please settle
your dancer in with the group’s helpers. A parent is only allowed to stay backstage if they are a
volunteer backstage helper. All other parents are to return to the auditorium.
The rehearsal will begin with the Finale. When your dancer has completed all of their dances, please
sign them out and they are free to go.
Backstage: For the safety of all performers during dress rehearsal and recital, ONLY authorized
personnel will be allowed backstage. There is a lot of activity backstage within a limited amount of
space and dressing rooms are a private area. Please remind family and guests that these areas are off
limits before, during, and after the show. Those who wish to greet performers or present flowers should
do so in the lobby areas.
Photography and Videotaping will only be allowed during Dress Rehearsal.

Annual Recital
Saturday, June 18th, 2016 @ Oxford High School
Company arrival time is 3:00 PM.
Arrival time for all other students is 4:00 PM.
Hair & Makeup should be completed upon arrival.
Costumes in a Garment Bag.
Recital begins at 5:00 PM sharp!
DRESSING ROOM ITEMS YOU NEED TO BRING:
Besides costumes, dance shoes, etc., pack a bag with games, books, “NON-MESSY” activities & snacks
for your dancer! Some bring portable DVD players & kid appropriate movies! Bring water & “NONMESSY” snacks – remember, costumes are irreplaceable! If you’d like, provide a cover up (i.e. a robe or a
large shirt) to care for the costume and keep warm.
CHECK-IN & CHECK-OUT
Check-In will be conducted the same way at Recital as it was at Dress Rehearsal. All Dancers must be
checked-out once the Recital has been completed.
PICTURES & VIDEO
For the safety of our dancers and for the respect & enjoyment of all audience members, flash
photography and videotaping will NOT be allowed during the Recital. However, a professional DVD of
the Recital will be available for purchase. See page 10 for Recital DVD Order Form & information.
