Dear Customer,
We congratulate you on choosing FRETTE linens, synonymous with quality since 1860.
Maintaining Frette linens is very easy: just a few, simple care attentions will suffice to
preserve the original sensations and the outstanding characteristics of our product in
the course of time.
preliminary tips and notes
New products of pure cotton, pure linen, or linen/cotton union, should always be washed, at least once,
separately from the other laundry, before being put in use for the first time. Use more water ( higher
ratio ) and load your washing device with fewer items.
This initial washing eliminates any residues left over from the production processes and puts the linen
item in its best conditions for an optimal use. After the first washing, in fact, the fabric recovers its
normal shape. During weaving, finishing and tailoring - just to name a few of the many production steps
- the fabric is continuously under tension; that is why it may appear somewhat out of shape at a first
glance upon receipt. After washing, fibers swell and compact regaining the original shape. A shrinkage
in the two directions of the linen item (i.e. warp and weft, respectively the length and the width of the
cloth) is normal practice with fabrics of natural fibers (cotton, linen).
If a mangle (roll ironer) is used, feed the linen in length, normally, but not always, this is the direction
of the warp of the fabric. By the same token, flat items (e.g. bedsheets and tablecloths) will be introduced by the hem (not the selvedge, if any). Items with a pocket (e.g. pillowcases and duvet covers) by
the side which is opposite the opening.
The contents of the pages that follow are guidelines for the maintenance of each line of product as outlined in the respective care labels. Further adjustments of the wash cycle, which may be due to different
types of water and machinery, will be developed from these bases.
Frette products are manufactured, in line with the most recent recommendations as regards to the environmental sustainability, to perform very well to laundering and ironing.
Therefore:
do not exceed the temperatures during the washing and ironing processes, causing unnecessary
consumption of energy, and
do not exceed the detergents dosage thus affecting the reconversion cycle of waters.

New linens should be soaked in cold water for some 12 hours before washing for the first time through a regular laundering program. Soaking may be effectively substituted by a couple of the rinsing cycles of an industrial washer. Use more water (higher ratio
water to linens) and load your washing device with fewer items.

Prewash at 40°C (104°F).
Wash with detergents at 60°C (140°F). For very soiled, and white items, the washing temperature may be increased to
75°C (169°F).
Bleach, if necessary, using oxygen-based products. If, instead, chlorine bleach is used, never exceed the prescribed
concentration otherwise the appearance and the life-cycle of the linen item will be adversely affected.
Rinse thoroughly, lowering the temperature of the water, to remove chlorine and any chemical agents.
Carry out normal neutralization at the end of the washing cycle to neutralize all bleach residues and to reduce the alkalinity.
use of detergents and bleaches
To obtain the best results in washing, the dosage of the detergents and bleach should be adjusted to the specific
characteristics of the water and correctly tuned by your supplier of detergents in collaboration with the manufacturer
of your laundry equipment.
Colour linens: never use detergents containing optical brightening agents (OBA), you may experience alterations in colour.
drying and ironing
Pressing and tumbling are steps in which care must be used.
Set the pressure of the press to the lowest level as possible or gentle spin, and make sure that drying be at low temperature,
gentle process, to obtain a residual humidity of 52 to 55% (i.e. 1.00 kg of dry linen must weigh 1.52 to 1.55 kg when
extracted damp from the tumbler).
Tumble-drying too long and at a too high temperature damages bed linens by causing creases, abrasions, elephant-skin
wrinkles, and shrinkages of up to 20%!
Iron linen on a mangle or calander having a roller temperature not exceeding 185°C (365°F).
way of treatment

Colour linens: always keep separate from white.
Neither exaggerate with dosages nor exceed the dosage concentration.
Enzymes or sodium-peroxide-based bleach should be preferred to remove heavy soil or stains.

Never leave bed linens (wet or dry) in the tumble drier: that may cause burns or create permanent creases in the linens.
Never iron dried linens.
The shrinkage rates of bed linen items are carefully calculated. Inserting the product into the mangle in the weft direction
(that is to say width instead of length) causes an abnormal shrinkage in the product length (up to 10%).

The loops of new terry towels and bathrobes are not yet fixed and therefore they pull easily if not handled with the utmost
care. It is only after washing that the fabric compacts, and the loops stabilize in the ground-weave, acquiring the desired strength, softness and absorption properties.
We strongly recommend to open the packaging with particular attention and care.
