Three-Runway System
by 2023
• Traffic volumes at HKIA have been
growing steadily, and in order to
meet future air traffic growth, the
airport must enhance its capacity.
• Under a three-runway system,
HKIA will be able to accommodate
620,000 flight movements per year,
meeting demand projections up to
and possibly beyond 2030. By 2030,
the forecast passenger throughput
will reach 102.3 million.
