The President’s Paddock Bruce Szczech The summer of the Club’s 60th Anniversary is in full swing and we have a lot coming up. After a very fun but busy May and June, we ease off the throttle a bit in July with our combination July Social and Club Picnic on Saturday July 12th from 12:00 ‐ 3:00 at the brand new Wisconsin Brewing Company in Verona. The Club will supply subs and the first round or two of a barley or non‐barley beverage, with a tour of the shiny new facility at 2:00. Please bring a bag of your favorite munchies, a side or desert to share if you can too. All ages are welcome for a few hours of relaxing bench racing. See the flyer in this issue for directions. Back on the track, we head to Jefferson Speedway one last time on July 20th with our Autocross Series, so come on out and bring a friend or two and show them how they can have a blast with their daily driver just a short trip down the road. Speaking of road, make sure you’ve got your calendar marked for our not‐to‐be‐missed Road America weekend on August 16 & 17, with wheel‐to‐wheel races both days and a Madison Autocross event at the R/A Motorplex on Sunday – an awesome Autocross venue. R/A is a big, beautiful track, so we’ll need plenty of help to staff the event and will be celebrating our 60th Anniversary with our Racing Through Time theme and terrific party on Saturday night. It’s the one and only trip to R/A this year and we’ve got the whole Autocross and Wheel‐to‐Wheel crew together at the best racing venue in the nation – don’t miss it! Until the next checkers... UPDATE ON "THE TESLA FACTOR" MOVIE.
Late last summer, Producer/Director Robert Love of the movie "The Tesla Factor" had a
publicity photo shoot with several MSCC members' hot cars with several of the movies hot
stars. The Tesla Factor is a full length action/comedy indie (independent - not Indy 500)
movie that's about the very smart but sheltered Scientist Melanie Goddard. When she
discovers her work is going to be used as a weapon, she runs away from VivaTech, the
research company she was working for. With the help of two detectives, John Finley and
Alan Boltzmann, Melanie discovers the real world while trying to stay alive. One thing
leads to another and Melanie ends up hopping in MSCC member Rusty Dramm's Bullitt
Mustang and drives it like she stole it in the movie.
What's the latest news on the Tesla Factor movie shoot? The movie production team was
able to purchase a top end movie camera for high resolution movie theater and NetFlix
releases. Filming is well under way and just recently the shooting of the car scenes has
begun. Filming at speed Bullitt shots (pun intended) began June 14 on part of last year's
MSCC Halloween Fun Rally route. Rusty reports it was great fun but very intense with
high speed filming runs in between a huge bike ride event with another of our members Loren Ziglin. The weekend of June 21 was spent shooting cars scenes in Rhinelander,
Wisconsin. Filming should be done by the end of September with editing and final
production this coming winter.
Look for the premiere next spring at the Sundance Theater in Madison. We will be sure to
make this a club outing at the opening to admire the real star, Rusty's Mustang. For more

Treasurers Report: (G. Schneider) – The balance reflects AX trophies purchased & autocross track deposits
Final installment ($19.5K) for RA track rental (Midwestern Council-sanctioned event) is due
~July.
Membership: (G. Schneider) – We have 167 club members (MSCC) with 155 reported to Midwestern Council.
Polly Linden has some renewals and a few new members (~6) from the low speed autocross.
Name tags – It’s been a few years since we sent out name tags. Bruce S will check into having a
batch of name tags made for inclusion (along with stickers?) in new member mailings.
Socials: (B. Bylaws – BoD discussion: Who is on the “Bylaws Committee”? All clubs should be invited.
Club Mentor Meeting – Next gathering seems to be scheduled for June 13th before Contest Board.
2014 Banquet – Sports Car Club of Rockford has volunteered to host the banquet.
MCSCC Charitable Fund – Disbanded Full Throttle club would like to use their unallocated funds to set
up a fund for members in financial need. The sentiment was applauded but this seems too far
outside Midwestern Council’s “mission statement” to allocate scarce administrative resources.
Arm restraints – Rules changes discussed. Reminder: Posting discussions of rules changes in the Minutes
on the forum (MCSCC.org) equates to “publishing” them.
Chief of the School – BoD discussion: The Competition Director already has the authority appoint an
assistant as a contact. There is no need to create a position / an added layer of infrastructure.
AX Committee: (J. Campbell) 1st event went well. There were only 45 entries but the weather was poor. The
course was fun and pretty fast. Next event is this weekend – Expect 65 degrees & sunny!
Expenses – A new printer needed to be purchased. G Schneider has the receipt.
Miscellaneous – Bruce S will send 3 free AX passes to Formula SAE along with club literature.
Old Business: 60th Anniversary – The BoD gave Rusty D some logo-tweaks: Drop dark gray (just 4 colors),
shrink the height of “MADISON” and make MADISON Sports Car Club all the same blue.
Upcoming Events:
Memorial Day (May 24-26) – Race Chair, Kevin K not present – Erik Hutchins will be out of town for
HPDE but will send info – Bruce S will check with EH re: recruiting instructors. HPDE Tech was
also EH. Tech sheet is in the entry form – Rusty D will assist with tech. Gary S conducts the
drivers meeting and stewards make PA announcements. Ray J will order 144 checkered flags.
Registration - Staffing still being finalized.
AX Tech - Bruce S will check with Kevin K about using the former Frisbee space or a canopy.
Road America (Aug 16-17) – No word, yet, from the Race Chair. Ray J will email Chief Steward John
Boldt about the schedule. Also need graphics, pricing, and etc. for the entry form.
New Business:
Older metallic stickers – Ray J had a stack of MSCC logo stickers, which he transferred to Bruce S
Crystal Tack Cloth souvenirs – Ray also has about 2 dozen first aid kits… Halloween Rally give-away?
