The Athlone/Dunvegan Community League will
be celebrating Community Day in Edmonton on
Saturday September 17th, 2016
On Saturday
September 17th
the Athlone/
Dunvegan
Community League will be celebrating Community Day in
cooperation with the Edmonton Federation of Community
Leagues (EFCL).
Festivities will run from 1 pm to 4 pm at the Athlone Community
Hall at 13010 - 129th St. and will include games, races, prizes,
Jumpy Things and food for all! We will also have face painters
and a balloon animal maker visiting us!
We will be accepting donations for the Edmonton Food Bank at all
special events at the hall, so bring along a donation
Come meet members of the Athlone/Dunvegan Community
League board. We would love to hear from you!
Representatives will be there from Telus, Calder Library, the
Traditional Karate Club and the Junior Forest Rangers programs to
take your questions and registrations.
This is our big membership drive for the year, so 2016/2017

Athlone School is Back!
School is back in
session and the
Athlone/Dunvegan
Community League
would like to remind
you to slow down
around Athlone
Elementary School.
Police officers will
be stationed outside
schools for the first
week of school to
enforce speed limits.
A driver caught
going 50 km/h in a
school zone could face a $167 fine.
It’s not just those speeding through
school zones that create dangerous
situations for students — tow trucks will
be outside schools for the month of
September ready to tow improperly
parked vehicles. The four-week
campaign will crack down on parents
squeezing into parking spaces that are
too close to crosswalks and
intersections, creating dangerous
situations for students. Tickets for illegal
parking start at $50. Impound fees start
at $120.
So take your time and make sure
everyone gets there safe!
