Ringtons
It’s been an exciting time for Ringtons recently as we were asked to take
part in a unique British Fair at the Hankyu Department Store in Osaka
alongside our Japanese distributors.
Our CEO and fourth generation of Ringtons’ founding Smith family, Simon
Smith and his wife Sue, gave demonstrations on how to make a proper British
cup of tea. They even donned some traditional clothing from the 1900s! It
wasn’t just Simon and Sue who made the epic journey - one of our original
carriages used to deliver tea in 1907 was also on display along with its very own
replica horse.
There was also a fantastic Ringtons mini museum and shop which exhibited
many of the company’s most iconic collectables and gave visitors the chance to
snap up some Ringtons goodies. Simon said: “It was fantastic to show Japanese
visitors what British tea is all about. It’s a delight to be able to share our
commitment to provide high quality teas and excellent customer service to
people across the globe”.
Anniversaries
It’s been 90 years since our six storey building on Algernon Road in
Byker was built to accommodate the factory and offices.
Whilst growth has meant we’ve had to move the packing and blending
to a larger modern facility nearby, the Ringtons building still
remains an iconic landmark in Newcastle.
From Her Majesty The Queen’s 90th birthday to the Rio
Olympics - 2016 is sure to be an eventful one. To mark the
Queen’s special day we are producing some commemorative
limited edition products and we will be out in force
supporting the British teams over the summer months for
the 2016 Olympics with a hefty supply of quality tea and
scrumptious biscuits.
But through all the changes, what has remained the same
over the last 108 years is our commitment to deliver the
highest quality teas straight to your door. Surely that’s the
best reason of all to celebrate?
30 years ago
You can’t think of Ringtons without thinking about
friendly salespeople travelling in their vans to bring
delicious goodies to your door. Whether the traditional
horse and cart springs to mind or you’re more familiar
with our modern VW ‘tea’ Caddies, we’ve had a fair few
vehicles over the years!
This year we celebrate 30 years since we reintroduced the
green colour, originally used on our horse carts, to our new
design. We think you will agree that the vans are a very
recognisable sight – not to mention a welcome one!

Here at Ringtons, we love a special occasion and there are
certainly lots of reasons to celebrate this upcoming year.
It’s a year of celebrations for Ringtons too as our building on
Algernon Road also turns 90. Originally built for the factory
and offices it even had space inbuilt for the fleet of horses,
our traditional delivery method. We have certainly moved
on in terms of our transport, in fact we are celebrating 30
years of a new van design, which came into effect in 1986.
