It is my distinct pleasure and honor to extend greetings to you as the
International Grand Basileus of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated.
My dear Amicae you are celebrating your 67th Anniversary and Zeta
is so very proud of you.
You have been true friends of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated
and our organizations have a rich and beautiful history, and the future
will be just as rich and profound. As we continue to work together in
unity, let us enhance the quality of life in our various communities by
helping others who are less endowed.
Friend Donnie Faye Hull, National Director of Amicae Affairs, has traveled to all regions and
presented workshops and visited with you. She is a true blessing to Amicae and lets remember
her in our prayers as she mourns the passing of her father. Thanks to Friend Rhonda Eberhardt,
Co-Director of Amicae Affairs, for her dedication and time. Both of these ladies are very
talented, dedicated, committed to working with you and they know Amicae history. Under their
very capable leadership the Amicae will continue to grow, learn and be of service to the
community. They have set their goals and both you and your sponsors will be well informed
about the role and responsibility of each Amicae, Amicae auxiliary and sponsor. You are a vital
part of Zeta and we have great plans to build on our friendship.
Wishing God’s continual blessings on each Amicae auxiliary and again congratulations on 67
years of service to Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Incorporated! Looking forward to visiting with you
as I travel to conferences.
Zeta Amicae of all the gifts that life can send, there’s none more treasured than a friend---a
friend whose smile and thoughtful ways add happiness to passing days, a friend who shares and
comforts too and Zeta has found that kind of friend in you! We love you and we so appreciate
the money you have donated to help pay off the mortgage on our house and make the needed
renovations that are taking place, so that we can move back into our house – you all are so
AMAZING!!!
Yours in sincere friendship,
ZETA AMICAE IN ACTION

We are excited about this issue of the ZETA AMICA IN ACTION Newsletter as
we continue to showcase activities, programs, and projects of the Amicae in all

EASTERN REGIONAL AMICAE PRESIDENT
Greetings from the Eastern Region,
I am extremely excited to announce that the Amicae of the
Eastern Region continue to work diligently on the
principles of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. Our focus for the
region continues to be “Strengthening Our Friendship”.
The “Sister-Friend Tea”, campaign consists of local Zeta
Chapters and Amicae Auxiliary will sponsor a “Tea” for the
purpose of activating, reactivating, reclaiming and recruiting Amicae. The
Tea will allow the local Zeta Chapter to be a great support to the Amicae
which is a part of being “Friends”.
The Eastern Region has also embraced our theme by facilitating the first
ever Eastern Regional Zeta/Amicae Necrology Ceremony, Zeta/Amicae Choir
as well as regional Amicae Conference calls with the Regional Director,
Soror T. Diane Surgeon. Soror Surgeon has worked hard to incorporate
comprehensive programming and involvement with the Amicae during the
Regional conference workshops and summits.
The Eastern Region Amicae were recognized at the Grand Boule 2014 for
Chartering and reactivating the most Amicae Auxiliaries within Zeta. We are
excited in the Region about our growth and our accomplishments of our
Amicae Auxiliaries as they continue to ‘Building on the Principles of Zeta,
While Blazing New Paths”.

Amicae to Zeta Spotlight for the Electrifying Eastern Region
Soror Edna Caldwell
Soror Caldwell is a professional women who do not have the four year degree should all recognize this
wonderful Auxiliary, the Amicae (under the umbrella of "The Best" Sorority of them all, Zeta Phi Beta
Sorority, Inc.) mainly because Zeta is the only sorority that has one. I spent four fabulous years
(1992-1995, when I finished my degree) as an Amicae, where we were on the constant move for the
Auxiliary and our Sponsoring Chapter, Zeta Chi Zeta of Goldsboro. When a line was formed, there was
no hesitation - I was more than ready and am a proud, blessed "Zeta".

around the Great Lakes Region
Since Regionals 2014 in Cleveland Ohio, I have
been running around the Region to visit, educate
Tau Psi Zeta Chapter - Alsip, IL and show some love to the Amicae. My first stop
Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of Alsip, IL in June was at the Alsip Amicae Summer Roundup where Zeta, Amicae and other invitees gathered
for a fun-filled day of food, music & laughter.
Host:
Then in July, it was off to the Boulé where the 1st Amicae Legacy Club was established
with Legacy members getting a pin, certificate and their names in history. I served as the
Capital Campaign Raffle Chair and the Amicae raised enough to donate $1500.00 to the
Grand at the Boulé. Good times!!
After the summer, the first order of business in September was the Great Lakes Regional
Executive Board meeting in Rosemont, IL. Following the meeting was Amicae Sponsors
Training, where 27 Sorors throughout the Region were certified. Then, the first stop in
October was to Springfield, the State Capital of the Illinois, for the State Leadership
Conference where I welcomed a new State Coordinator, Soror/Friend Elouise Jones
from Waukegan, IL. I also presented a workshop on the National Insurance
requirements for the Amicae.

Afterwards, I was off to
National Executive Board
meeting in Houston, Texas in
January 2015 where I co-trained
the Amicae certification course
with Soror/Friend Hull for the
newly appointed Regional and
State Directors.
Finally, in April, I will be
winding down my travels to our
very own conference in
Rosemont, IL where the National Director of Amicae Affairs and I will
conduct Coordinators and Sponsors’ training for the Great Lakes Region, as
well as other workshops for the Amicae. I would like to thank our Regional
Director, Soror/Friend Michelle Porter Norman for her trust in me by
allowing me to serve in this
role. I would also like to thank
her for allowing me to be her

Greetings from the State of Ohio Soror/ Friend Georgette M. Weatherspoon, Coordinator
I am very proud to have been
appointed the State of Ohio
Amicae Coordinator role for
the past four (4) years. My
goals for the Amicae within
the State of Ohio Organization
is to continue with working
within the various
communities incorporating ZHope projects, especially the
most recent Adopt a School,
and Eldercare, so we can build
an awareness of the Amicae
and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority
Inc. and help someone along
the way. I also want to
c o nt i n ue t o gr o w i n
membership and continue to
build the relationships
between the Amicae and
Zetas. I have the pleasure of
working with some great
women who have the
principles of Zeta Phi Beta
Sorority Inc. dear to their
hearts.
The Amicae are currently led
by Zeta Amica President

The Amicae also has an
Annual
Retreat in
September for all Ohio

together for a day of
training, fellowship, and
bonding this year the Zeta
Amicae Auxiliary of
Cincinnati, Ohio was the
host. At this retreat the
Amicae discussed the recent
changes since Regionals and
Boulé, bonding, and sharing
ideas for building and
retaining members. This will
continue during the Ohio
Conference we will be
brainstorming and sharing
ideas to build and grow the
State of Ohio.
The Amicae of Ohio always
has representation at all State
meetings,

MRS. LYNNETTE T. WILLIAMS
The Pride of the Alsip
This jazzy grandma was
introduced to Zeta Phi Beta
Sorority, Inc. when her
oldest daughter became a
Zeta. Upon excepting an
award for her daughter from
her sorority, two ladies Mrs.
Thelma Murray-Skyes and
Mrs. Arletha Hardin
approached her and told her
about the Zeta Amicae
Auxiliary. The rest is history; She became a member of the Xi
Mu Zeta Amicae Auxiliary in 1995; in 2005 she became a member
of the Tau Psi Zeta Amicae Auxiliary of Alsip and has held
several positions.
Lynnette graduated from Copernicus Elementary School in 1958
and Englewood HS in 1962. Later she attended Wilson Jr.
College (now Kennedy-King) and Harold Washington City
College.
She has been married for over 40 years to her husband Percy;
They have 2 daughters, Yolanda—Academic Advisor at Eastern
IL Univ active member of Tau Psi Zeta Chapter and LaTanya—
LPN, 2 grandchildren Isis and Israel .
Lynnette was employed by the Chicago Board of Education for
25 years, 2 years as a Teacher Assistance and 23 as a Vision &
Hearing Tech., she retired in Feb. of 2004. While working she
served on the Chicago Teachers Union for 20 years in the
capacity of Delegate, District Supervisor, Functional VicePresident and Trustee.
Her hobbies are scrapbooking and stamp collecting; and she
serves as a Greeter at Salem Baptist Church of Chicago where
Rev. James T. Meeks is the Pastor.
She graduated from Chicago State
University with a board of
governors major and a minor in
African-American studies on
December 19, 2013. Though hard to
leave the Amicae, she fulfilled her
dream and was initiated into Tau
Psi Zeta Chapter on 11/15/2014!!
We are extremely PROUD
to now call you Soror!!
Greetings from Sigma Alpha Zeta Chapter-Amicae
Auxiliary,
Currently, the Sigma Alpha Zeta Amicae Auxiliary is
in its re-building phase. In October of 2014, we hosted
a wonderful open house where we had five
enthusiastic guests interested in joining the Blue and
White Family. Going forward we have our intake
process planned along with formally chartering our
Amicae Auxiliary.
One of our lovely former members, Jasmine Groce,
transitioned from Amicae to Zeta after her enrollment
at Mount Mary College. She was a very active
member working with the 5K Aids Walk, Food for
Families Drive, Hallelujah Harvest and Homeless
Children of MPS. She is also a past Vice President.
I am the Amicae Advisor for Sigma Alpha Zeta
Chapter along with Teresa Smith. I am also the
current Wisconsin State Amicae Coordinator. In my
fourteen years as a Zeta, I have served as Tamias
Grammeteus and worked on numerous community
service projects. And finally, I would like to add that I
am very proud of the dedication and hard work of our
current Amicae Auxiliary members.
Yours truly,
Sharon McGhee Dailey

Every year in the month of November along with
our sponsoring chapter of NU EPLISON ZETA
Chapter, we put on a Thanksgiving Basket
giveaway to the elderly. This is one way where we
give back to the community.
Not only does our sponsoring chapter assist in
collecting and donating items for the baskets, they
also assist in the preparation process of making the
baskets.
Our first year in 2012 we gave away 4 baskets.
Last year in 2013 we gave away 8 baskets. And
this year our goal is 12 baskets. As you can see we
try and double from previous years.
We are a very small number in members, but we
do give in quantity
Zeta Amicae of Texarkana, Texas celebrated
their 40th Anniversary in October, 2014. They
were treated to dinner by their sponsoring Zeta

when they hosted the Southern Region’s 85th
