At the age of only 63, Marcelle Trudel has been an avid coin
collector for nearly forty years. Her collecting specialties include
Essais and Pieforts of France, Palladium coinage, unusual
denomination coinage and precious metal coins-of-tradition (coins
issued by Royal or Imperial Houses in exile). Marcelle is an
accomplished student of Real Estate Management from the
University of Quebec and of Human Relations from the Carnegie
Institute, receiving the only honorary life membership awarded by
the Property Owners League in Montreal. She also served for
many years as a School Board member in Eastern Montreal and in
various secretary or treasurer positions for numerous cultural
organizations. Mother of two daughters, Julie and Nancy,
Marcelle remains active in her personal life and in the numismatic
community as she retains an outstanding collection of early
French coinage as well as a noteworthy ensemble of at least 100
palladium coins.

Introductory Notes regarding the Marcelle Trudel Collection
Rarity and Estimates
The following group of lots represent the initial offering of
material from the Marcelle Trudel Collection. Many of these
coins are unlisted Patterns, Trial Strikes, Essais, Pieforts, OffMetals or Uniface Die renderings that are unlisted in the Standard
Catalog of World Coins by Krause Publications as well as the
book Unusual World Coins by Colin R. Bruce II. Some of these
coins may share the same obverse and/or reverse dies with Bruce
listed coins, yet represent a mule configuration of known or
published types or vary on the basis of metal content. As such,
there are also few, if any recent recorded sales in private treaty
transactions, auctions and/or numismatic dealer pricelists. These
circumstances create the quandry of undefined price estimates on
many of the lots. Since most of these are one of very few
produced, we are certain that there will be some spirited bidding
throughout the section. Please feel free to contact us with any
requests for verbal descriptions on any items within the catalog.
This listing will likely become a reference for many of these
unusual issues with regard to specific information and pricing.
This offering is a wonderful opportunity for the specialized
collector to obtain prohibitively rare, ultra low mintage coins that
are virtually unavailable elsewhere.
