A letter from the President
August 2016
Dear Members:
The renovation of the Club began on schedule, however, as in any major project, there are expected hiccups along the way. With the
expertise of Colgan Construction and Jeremiah Young of Kibler & Kirch, they are ironing them out. Please visit the Club to get tease of
the transformation. After an event August 19th, we will begin the remodel of the restrooms. Check out our progress on Facebook; I feel so
good about the progress! We will have a “Construction Cocktails” fundraiser to assist in raising money for the President and the Sheepherder
Room.
As we’ve taken down items for the remodel , it brings back memories of the Petroleum Club for me during the 80’s and 90’s. Many familiar
faces came to mind. Some are no longer with us, but the reminiscences of their contributions and membership still linger. If you are interested
in some memorabilia, it is for sale! Please feel free to visit our “Estate Sale Room.”
There are some special items that need to be purchased, such as a ballroom chandeliers, draping, electronics, a piano for the bar, chesterfields
for the library, that rely on donations. If you or your firm are looking for ways to help the Club with these needs or as in a naming opportunity,
please give us a call. The Club appreciates all donations, regardless of the amount.
Effective September 1, the Club will have a new General Manager. Debby Cochrane comes to us from The Silverton Hotel and Casino in Las
Vegas. As General Manager of the Sundance Restaurant and Grill she brings with her a perfect blend of five-star expertise in fine dining and
hospitality management. She leaves a resort hotel company with its Sway Lounge and will mix any cocktail to quench your thirst. The resort
boasts of a 117,000 gallon aquarium that was voted as the “Best Free Attraction in Las Vegas.” The hotel/resort holds a 165,000 square foot
Bass Pro Shop for the fisherman, hunter, and even the whole family to enjoy so if you want to share your fishing and hunting stories with her
I’m sure you’ll have her ear.
With a new a look, we have new events on the horizon. We have visited with Bill Mitchell, at Mitchell’s Golf and we would like to organize
a winter afternoon women’s indoor golf league. This would entail the Club arranging a ladies luncheon to head to Mitchell’s for a round of
golf and unwind with a cocktail and appetizers at the Club. Do you play Bridge? The Club would like to host a regional Bridge Tournament
in the spring of 2017 at the Club.
How about a Gridiron Night? Before you know it, football season will be in full swing. We are looking for a couple members who would like
to organize a party around the November 19th Cat-Griz Game this year. If you would like to quarterback this event, give us a call. We could
make it a great party for Club Members and their friends.
2015-2016 OFFICERS & DIRECTORS
CLUB MANAGEMENT
The Club is excited to invite the members for smooth jazz night and live entertainment. Once the Club’s renovation is complete, we will keep
you posted with events, appealing to a variety of age groups. It will be a fresh approach to dining and enjoying the ambiance of the Magic
City like it’s never been seen before.
