The British Columbia Wine Awards are the province’s oldest wine judging competition. With over 600 entries
and growing, this event celebrates the amazing quality of wines made from 100% BC grown fruit. A group
of North America’s most experienced wine judges spend four days in the Okanagan judging the wines and
the results are unveiled to the world at this event. Sponsored by ContainerWorld, Farm Credit Canada, Grant
Thornton and TricorBraun Winepak, wineries will be the recipients of the Premier’s British Columbia Wine
Award, Platinum, Gold, Silver and Bronze medals each recognizing a different level of excellence. Meet the
winemakers and be the first to taste a wonderful sample of the award winners. This is a Get Home Safe event.

The Rotary Centre for the Arts is a funky locale to taste over 250 wines all under one roof. With our unique

Canadian cheeses have made their mark on the world winning prestigious awards. It’s time to celebrate with
a special salute to these cheeses. What better way to toast success than with British Columbia sparkling
wines! Join David Beaudoin from Dairy Farmers of Canada and Judie Barta, Proprietor, Meadow Vista Winery
at this fun informal celebration. Be introduced to 6 Canadian cheeses, hear the story behind each one and
be entertained with David’s well known passion for cheese. While savouring the cheese, your palate will be
introduced to six different sparkling wines from the Okanagan Valley. This 2 hour seminar is a perfect way to

ALEXIS DE PORTNEUF PRESENTS: “THE YOUNG CHEFS”
October 8th, 6:30pm – 9:00pm, Okanagan College Atrium, 1000 KLO Road, Kelowna
A unique culinary event for all foodies and wine lovers. Ten apprentice chefs compete to create a unique small
plate item either sweet or savoury that must contain at least 20% cheese supplied by Alexis de Portneuf from
Quebec. The creativity of these young chefs is a sight to behold and the taste is so authentically Okanagan. To
round it out nicely, each apprentice chef is paired with an Okanagan winery whose wines are chosen to match
the dish. A group of professional judges will determine the Top Young Chef while they enjoy the amazing food
and wine. This is a Get Home Safe event.

All the cheese made by The Village Cheese Company is

whole milk from the Okanagan Valley. This havarti style cheese
has a semi-soft texture, which gives it a creamy mouth feel.
Adding Gewurztraminer from a local winery creates a nice
finish.
This unique farmstead organic cheese is hand crafted bearing
a golden washed rind and pale yellow interior. The distinctive
meaty aroma and rich lingering flavour are partly the result of
the organic thermalized milk from select herds of Brown Swiss
and pure bred Holstein cows that graze in the pastures near
the cheese plant. Michel Pichet has been farming organically
for over 25 years.
