During the course of 45 years the Alvarez guitar shop in St. Louis has developed the most comprehensive pre-sale inspection and adjustment procedure in the industry. Every single Alvarez instrument, irrespective of its price point is inspected and adjusted in St. Louis. We know how important it is for a guitar to not just sound right, but to feel right too and play perfectly straight out of the box. Alvarez instruments go through an advanced set-up process that includes a full fretboard level and dress, filing of nut slots and multiple neck/ truss rod adjustments. Every fretboard is oiled, every note is tested for clarity and bridge saddle measurements are taken to make sure your guitar feels and plays just right. Regent Series All-New From 2013 How did we make them better this time? In 2011 we launched a great line of Regent Series guitars and in order to improve on them we focused on how we could deliver more features and better tone through improving our production techniques. Techniques that would allow us to make the best value, best quality entry-level guitars in the market. First we scalloped the bracing system in a way that gets the best from laminated construction. The new Regent 26’s and 27’s will surprise the most experienced of acoustic guitar players, they respond and resonate incredibly well. We then focused on the finish and cosmetics and improved our painting, polishing and detail work. The notes Regent Series produce are rounded and have depth, which is rare for laminated construction, this makes them more enjoyable to play. We also now ship every Regent guitar in a gig bag, but not just the usual unpadded freebie. We designed a super deluxe, duo-foam bag made from the finest materials we could find and filled it full of protection. Regent Series sounds and looks better than it ever has, it offers unsurpassable value and appeals to all players from beginners to the experienced and it’s tone and response will blow you away. The 650 uses B-BAND’s patented electret film technology replacing the Piezo materials found in other acoustic guitar pickups. A Piezo pickup tends to import a sound of its own into the electrified tone, which is often described as “quacky” or synthetic – You don’t get this with B-BAND technology which works in much the same way as a condenser microphone, allowing for accurate reproduction of the instruments true voice. The SYS650 is a dual pick-up system incorporating one UST (under saddle transducer) and an AST (acoustic soundboard transducer) placed under the soundboard, the amplified sound can be blended between the two pickups to find subtle changes in response for lead, picking or rhythm work. The SYS650 has a fully chromatic, precision tuner with backlit LCD screen; 3-bands of rotary EQ and a notch filter that helps eliminate feedback while minimizing degradation of the overall sound. The sound of Artist Series is one of these junctures where we scratch our heads; we think they sound so good we decided to leave the construction alone. Artist Series is now “The Award Winning Artist Series” – winning competitions in the States, Europe and around the world. It’s a truly awesome line of guitars which stands tall and sounds sweet in the solid top guitar market. How could we make it better? Well we made them look more beautiful by upgrading the finish. We now use a premium coating and an extended 23 process painting system that gives Artist series a lovely glass like, deep gloss finish and beautiful shine. We also added new models and embraced the left handed players of the world by making left handed options in Dreadnoughts, Folk/ OM’s, Parlors, Basses, Grand Auditoriums and even a lefty Baritone is on the way. New to the Artist Series line This year we introduce the Artist 66’s, a great line of all mahogany guitars in a fabulous vintage sunburst. Other new models include the ARD70 round shouldered dreadnought and our ATD60 solid top, travel sized dreadnought. All solid wood really does make a difference and we’ve made sure Masterworks gets the best out of their solid wood construction. They are very open sounding, powerful instruments with rounded notes and plenty of bass. All models are made from hand selected, AA solid Sitka spruce or Red Cedar tops, and solid, cured mahogany or rosewood backs and sides. Each component is made of natural material including real bone saddles and nuts, maple and rosewood bindings and purflings, ebony bridge pins and green abalone inlays. Masterworks feature a one-piece mahogany neck with a 50/50 finish, Grover® tuners and 12th Fret abalone inlay.
