DIVAS SIMPLY SINGING! is a magical evening of song and entertainment
that benefits The DIVA Foundation. This benefit concert event features a
host of the entertainment industries most talented women united in song
to continue the courageous battle against the spread of HIV/AIDS.
Sheryl Lee Ralph’s landmark career started with her portrayal of Deena in
the Broadway Musical Dreamgirls back in the 80’s. This proved to be the
best of times for Sheryl and also the worst of times. An epidemic was on
the rise during that time that would soon change the world forever. In
1990, Sheryl Lee Ralph established The DIVA Foundation 501(c)3 and
created DIVAS Simply Singing! as a loving memorial to the many friends
she had lost to HIV/AIDS. She used her voice to speak out from those
who died in silence and stigma.
For 24 consecutive years, Sheryl Lee Ralph and her friends have come
together to raise their voices in song and commitment to HIV/AIDS awareness and prevention.
Each DIVA performs one song with the sole accompaniment of a concert grand piano. It's like no
other show you've seen…The lights, The Mic, and the DIVAS Simply Singing!
Every cent of the millions raised through their efforts has gone to help men, women, and children
infected and affected by HIV/AIDS.

ABOUT THE DIVA
FOUNDATION?
The Diva Foundation is a
national not-for-profit 501C(3)
charitable organization founded
by actress and honored AIDS
activist, Sheryl Lee Ralph, in
1990. It is a memorial to the
many friends she had lost to
HIV/AIDS.
The DIVA Foundation stems from
Sheryl’s deep concern for the
lack of attention given to
HIV/AIDS and its potential to
become a health risk not only
for men, but women and
children.
The organization focuses on generating resources and
coordinating activities to create awareness of and combat
against HIV/AIDS. The DIVA Foundation utilizes music,
entertainment, and the arts as a vehicle to raise HIV/AIDS
awareness, funds, educate people, and help erase the
stigma attached to this deadly disease.
Goals
•
To support those who take responsibility for themselves
and others by making educated, informed choices, and
living a healthy lifestyle.

To advocate for action, understanding that prevention is
as important as a cure.
•
To be a catalyst for change in regard to reversing the
negative social perception of this disease. HIV/AIDS is not
just a Gay disease, AIDS affects us all.
•
To help others light the light of compassion as we
continue to fight the good fight against HIV/AIDS.
•
To recognize that men, women, children, young, old,
black, white, red, brown, and yellow people must work
together in a healthy partnership to solve what is quickly
becoming a global pandemic with devastating
consequences to us all.

The Diva Foundation is a positive force in the lives of
those who are infected and affected by HIV/AIDS by
using its voice and sphere of influence to speak up, sing
out and take action.
