During the meetings, the inception, planning and implementation of activities such as fund-raising events, collaboration with research laboratories and student organizations in co-organizing conferences and lecture series were discussed. A logistical framework for the proposed activities was established in order to assign the committees who will implement the designated tasks. (A) Induction of newly elected PAGS – SEGSC officers. (B) General Assembly introducing the student chapter to 3rd year geology students of Adamson University. (C) Inception planning of student chapter officers and university representatives. (D) Meeting of the officers with the SEG Student Chapter Faculty Adviser, Dr. Carla B. Dimalanta. First Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA) Student Congress 2015 (PMSEA SC 2015) The student chapter was invited to participate in the First Student Congress organized by the Philippine Mine Safety and Environment Association (PMSEA). The event was held last November 18 – 20, 2015 at the MOFAMCO Multi-Purpose Hall in Baguio City with the theme “Converge: Converging Students Towards Responsible Mining”. Participants included geology, mining and metallurgical engineering students from the different universities in the Philippines. The congress was held to promote and strengthen the sustainable development advocacies of the Philippine mining industry. The event also provided a venue for the university students to meet and get to know each other. Student Chapter Fieldtrip The chapter was awarded the Stewart R. Wallace Fund (Round I, 2015) in the amount of 500 USD. Through this grant, a fieldtrip was conducted in the Baguio Mineral District, one of the most prolific mineral districts in the Philippines in terms of gold and copper. The fieldtrip was held last November 20, 2015. Twenty student chapter members participated in the fieldtrip which was facilitated by Dr. Karlo L. Queaño, exploration geologist of Apex Mining Co. Inc. An overview of the geology and mineralization potential of the Baguio Mineral District was provided by Dr. Queaño. Rock exposures of the Mirador Limestone and Klondyke Formation were visited. These sedimentary rocks overlie the mineralized district and play a crucial role in understanding the overall tectonics of the region and its implication on the mineralization in the Baguio Mineral District. The splay of the Philippine Fault Zone (PFZ) and how it affects the geomorphology of the area was also observed, The PFZ was discussed due to its proposed association with the distribution of the different deposits in the Baguio Mineral District.
