Shatter Tining
The use of the Verti-Drain as a cultivation
method to aerate soils is also known as
deep shatter tining. The Verti-Drain drives
solid tines into the grass and through the
ground up to 400mm (16”) deep, piercing
any pan which may exist. The tines then
heave the soil, cracking up the compaction
before they are withdrawn.
It breaks the side walls and adds pore space
to the soil profile.
Compaction is relieved and the soil is
opening, allowing water to drain and air to
move freely.
This heaving action lifts the soil in a
uniform manner. This lift represents the
amount of air that has been incorporated
into the ground.

The tine angle lever allows easy adjustment
to the degree of ground shatter intensity,
and quick setting to the vertical position for
conventional coring.

Hollow Coring
The Verti-Drain tines penetrate vertically when
the tine angle lever is positioned at 90˚. Perfectly
straight cores are being pulled on the surface.
Hollow coring is ideal for exchanging the soil,
or for removing thatch.

Cross Tines ensure an extra intensive aeration
treatment, while Chisel Tines will create more
space in the soil for oxygen.

Verti-Drain 1513
The Verti-Drain 1513 connected
to a Carrier functions as a
selfpropelled aerator. It is a high
production aerator, penetrating up
to 150mm deep into the soil with
both solid tines and hollow coring
tines.
Ground pressure is limited to a
minimum, since most of the weight
of the Verti-Drain 1513 and the
Carrier is carried and absorbed by
its wide tyres and the smooth front
roller of the Verti-Drain. Therefor
the ground pressure per square
centimeter amounts only 0.45kg.

decoupled from the Carrier,
and be hooked on a tractor,

The sit-on 7007Hydro Verti-Drain is
hydrostatic driven, so that all speed
adjustments are simply done by means
of a foot pedal. The three wheeled

Topdressing prior to
Verti-Drain
After the turf is topdressed with sand, the VertiDrain works the sand into the soil with solid tines.
Set at an ideal shatter angle of 5-10 degrees and a
close hole spacing, the tines then shatter the sand
backwards through the soil profile thus thoroughly
mixing it into the soil structure.

A retro–fit bogy wheel system is available for
easy transport, and less tractor horsepower is
needed.

The Core Collector uses a special two stage collecting system. A flexible
rubber flap gathers most of the cores. Behind this is a row of ground
following aluminium fingers to ensure that all material is collected
without the risk of damage to the turf.
The turf hold down fingers ensure that, when
vertidraining or coring, there is no danger of turf
damage even with a very shallow root system.

A rotating brush at the back of the Verti-Drain
incorporates sand into the holes, levels the ground
or breaks up the cores. The brushes are segmented,
so that it is ideally suited to process the material.

The Windrow kit aligns the cores for easy collection

How does it work?
Decompaction of the
soil takes place via offset blades. Their rotary
motion, combined with
the forward speed, sets up a
wave action. Thus the soil
is shattered laterally, and
decompacted consistently

The Verti-Seed is
designed for the

wants precision control
of dosage and depth,

unique action provides
direct seed contact with
the soil which ensures
good germination rates.
Direction of travel
The Verti-Seed’s unique action first opens the turf
using special oval shaped discs followed by small
chisels. The seed is then fed through the seeding
funnel and released just above the slit where the
wind cannot blow it away. The seed is deposited
in the furrow accurately and can be precisely
adjusted to give you exact rates even for very fine
seed, like bents and fescues. The furrow is then
sealed by the seeding shoe. Each seeding element
is independently sprung enabling the Verti-Seed
to accurately seed on any ground contour.
The Overseeder
The Overseeder buries the seed up to 20mm(3/4”)
deep in the ground, safe from the beaks of hungry birds
and out to the way of the wind. The amount of seed
is controllable to a highly accurate degree and the

The Vibra-Sandmaster will efectively decompact and
surface drain the soil all in one pass. Mounted in the
front of the Vibra Sandmaster is the Verti-Quake,
which decompacts and slits the turf down to 25cms
deep. Vibrating coulter blades open up the slits and
inject sand down to between 1520cms. A rear set of flotation tyres
gently firm up the ground leaving
a level ready-to-play surface. The
