Every year more than 125,000 cancer patients will travel to the greater Houston area for life saving treatment. For many, this is a last resort for complex needs or advanced stages of cancer. Affordable lodging is one of the most formidable challenges faced by cancer patients and their families. BU I LD HOPE by helping cancer patients and their families that have to travel away from home for life saving treatment. TOUCH LIVES by giving them over 23,000 nights of lodging at no cost, representing a savings to patients of over $2 million per year. Together let’s lead the way in 2015 to build Hope Lodge Houston. Slated to be the nation’s largest, with 64 patient suites and multiple stories covering more than 68,000 square feet. It will be open to cancer patients who are receiving treatment and follow up care and reside approximately 40+ miles or two hours from their cancer care providers. Hope Lodge Houston will be located in the expanding Texas Medical Center, on land donated by the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. TH E MCNAI R CHALLENGE In an effort to reach the $30 million campaign goal needed to build an American Cancer Society Hope Lodge in Houston, the Robert and Janice McNair Foundation has issued a challenge. The McNair Foundation will contribute $1 for every $2 raised, up to $4 million total. The generous challenge grant aims to quickly bridge the gap between what is already committed and what is needed in order to break ground. The goal is to reach the challenge by the end of 2015. Whether you are able to give $10 or $10,000, the Robert and Janice McNair Foundation will increase your gift. This provides an incredible opportunity for people to truly make an impact. Leading our HOPE LODGE HOUSTON —Build Hope. Touch Lives. campaign, the Society is extremely proud to have President George Bush and Mrs. Barbara Bush as Honorary Co-Chairs, and Robert and Janice McNair as our Campaign Co-Chairs.
