Dr. Subroto, the Chairman of the Bimasena Mines and Energy Society has invited the Board of Trustees of Bimasena to a dinner meeting to review current conditions related to the mining and energy sector. The Board discussed several topic issues which could be raised at dialogue forums at Bimasena. According to DR. Subroto, the suggestions brought forward by the Board members at this gathering, should be made available to “Top Decision Makers”, and could be viewed with the political, business and academic elites. Bimasena is available to accommodate such important discussion. one BIMASENA BREAKFAST FORUM “TAX AMNESTY AND EXPECTATIONS TOWARDS NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT” Tuesday, March 29, 2016 with Suahasil Nazara, Ph.D. Head of Fiscal Policy Agency Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia In his discourse dr. Suahasil Nazara extensively explained the expectations of the government including the additional revenues to be achieved and a better data base of accurate taxpayers. An elaborate outline was presented on the Latest Economic Development as well as an Update of the Tax Amnesty based on unreported assets. The short term strategy is: Stimulate the buying power of the community and enhance the investment climate - for the way to prosperity and achieve A Prosperous and Just Society. The forum was well attended by Bimasena members and executives of the private sector. FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION “PANCASILA” Thursday, February 18th, 2016 - Lobby Lounge, Grha Bimasena “Pancasila Sebagai Pandangan Hidup Bangsa Indonesia” written by the late Prof. M. Soediman Kartohadiprodjo and translated in English “Pancasila as The Philosophy of Life of the Indonesian Nation” by Prof. Budiono Kusumohamidjojo was discussed with speakers: Prof. Subroto, Chairman of Bimasena, Mr. Yudi Latif, Ph.D., Chairman of Center for Islamic Studies and State-Indonesia (PSIK-Indonesia), Prof. Budiono Kusumohamidjojo, Professor of Legal Faculty at Parahyangan University and the moderator, Prof. Makarim Wibisono, former Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations. The conclusion of the forum: 1. Pancasila has a strong resistance to the effects of globalization. 2. Pancasila has a mechanism to counteract the religious radicalism. 3. Pancasila also choose a middle way between the homogenization of local identity versus chauvinistic nationalism. 4. Pancasila prioritizing the role of the state rather than individualistic democracy 5. Economically, Pancasila also took a stance against the injustice of capitalism A further discussion on this subject was suggested. IN MEMORIAM “Ireng Maulana – your legacy will live forever” The legend of Indonesian jazz music , Eugene L.W. Maulana, better known as Ireng Maulana has passed on Sunday, 6 March 2016. He will be sadly missed by all jazz lovers in Indonesia, and his dedication to music will always be remembered. BIMASENA music lovers will fondly remember the many times that Ireng Maulana has turned the Lobby Lounge into a swinging “jam session” at the Jazz In-crowd evenings with Bimasena members. Prof. Dr. Subroto in his talk mentioned that there as a time this country was rich in fossil energy, such as oil, gas and coal. “But we must to realize that the condition of the country is now of lower energy, this is because the Indonesian behavior is not energy efficient. The Mayor of Ambon, Mr. Richard Louhenapessy, SH., made a surprise visit to Bimasena to witness the unique cooking class, and has kindly brought all the authentic spices and equipment with him for this occasion.
